/k/, how the fuck am i even supposed to CC this shit?
>>28027315
>automatic
You dont.
>>28027315
Nonvertical shoulder holster
>>28027321
Inplying it isn't old-timey speak for semi auto
Gooch carry, obviously.
End of the barrel nestled comfortably against the end of the tailbone.
>>28027353
I think a number of the long mag Rubys may have actually been full auto
>>28027315
That grip is too long.
>>28027356
This. Just spic carry like I did when I was a poorfag and CC'd a Dreyse 1907
Oh man, looking back it was a miracle nobody saw it or I didn't blow my pee-pee off...
OP here. I also have this monstrosity here. I can't carry either of them without looking like a deformed person.
>>28027409
Or a guy with a giant benis
>>28027422
... on my back, or portruding from my right hip? Yea i don't think so.
>>28027315
If you stick the grip up your ass, the barrel should fall in line along your asscrack.
Fucking spanish shit
Innaboot
>>28027679
Brilliant! No one would ever be the wiser.
>>28027566
Imagine being the French soldier who got THAT as his service pistol.
>>28027315
That is one weird looking 1911
>>28027357
but they do have a switch for semi & full
thinking about CC pic related
>>28027409
I like how old pistols look like stick drawings turned real
>>28027315
LOL

>>28027315
Oh thank god a thread for this. My grandma gave me this a few years ago, I googled hard and used the stampings on it to put me in a year range but can't find much info on it, most Ruby pistols don't have this long mag. I found one picture of a catalogue that inferred it may be called an Astra 1001 but otherwise googling Astra pistols I don't find an exact match for mine. Pics inbound
>>28031043
If anyone can point me to a source of more info I'd appreciate it
>>28031043
>>28031043
This looks like my gun and the stamps match but the words on the slide don't
>>28031043
How many rounds does that hold?
>>28031058
Search for the model in "Rock Island Auction". I bought mine there.
1811
>>28031866
To be honest I'm not sure. Here's a picture of how many rounds it came with (9) in the pocket of the leather holster it came with. I obviously didn't want to load these rounds into it so as to not possibly cause corrosion in the magazine, and I haven't been bothered to buy a box of .32 to load it up just to see, although eventually I will. It's just that based on the damage to the barrel shown in the next pic I'm not sure I want to ever try and shoot it
>>28032271
Thanks, I'll check it out
>>28032661
This is the damage I talked about. From what I've seen on youtube the barrel is rotated to be removed. Evidently somebody took a pair of pliers to it to try and rotate it when it was stuck. I tried to rotate it bare handed and it wouldn't move, so Ieft it alone and as of now this gun is just a neat old thing that belonged to my great grandfather that is full of questions I'll never have answered, like why the holster has Japanese (i think) writing inside of it
>>28032687
Here's the sticker thing inside the holster. Also when I put those corroded rounds in my hand to take the picture my hand started burning about one minute afterwards.
>>28032699
And here's the holster itself. I guess I'm wandering off topic a little bit now and just showing you guys stuff and telling a story. It's just that I rarely get a thread where this thing is relevant and as much as I've googled things sometimes one of you fellow gun nerds might have better info that what can easily be searched, especially for a pistol with as many variations, over a large period of time, manufacturers, countries, and an era of poor documentation
>>28027321
>>28027353
My dad calls all non-revolver handguns automatics. Drives me crazy.
>>28032749
I've know lots of older (50+) people who call semi-autos automatics. Never bothered me since I always knew what they meant when they said ".45 automatic" or "when we switched to automatics"

>>28032661
>>28032687

>>28032715
From the evidence put forward I deduce that this was PROBABLY a personal pistol from an officer, as some Japs carried foreign auto pistols instead of their service pistol.
Any idea if your great-grandfather was in the Pacific campaign in WWII? Mine was on Iwo Jima and the Second Battle of Guam. No bring-backs though...
>>28032815
shit, I'm 32 and if I am not actively trying not to, I still call em automatics; probably because all the adults I grew up around did
>>28032903
Curiosity got the better of me and I just talked to my grandmother about it, it was in her father's possession when he died back in 2004, she said she thinks it came from his cousin, who did in fact serve in the Pacific, but she doesn't know any more details
I posted these pictures in an Astra thread about a year ago and got a similar response, that they were popular among service members in the pacific as personal guns, but they were so popular all over the world back then there's no telling the gun/holster combo were just bought second hand from anywhere at anytime after
>>28032699
I might be able to get that translated.
>>28032271
Thanks to this anon I found this page http://www.rockislandauction.com/viewitem/aid/64/lid/848
Which is more info that I could previously find. No idea it'd be (theoretically) worth so much, not that I'm ever gonna get rid of it. That looks like a match, serial is even close. 12 rounds, neat! I wish I trusted it to shoot, or even CC it if it were super pristine (just for fun), it's super slim
>>28033017
I would greatly appreciate that and can provide better pics if you need
>>28027409
>>28027315
What acute gun.
>>28033039
The first kanji is "fuku," or good luck, and is used in a lot of words, including the Fukui prefecture's kanji spelling. The second kanji is rough to figure out, but it does resemble that second kanji in Fukui. The third kanji means army or troops. The last two kanji put together means "gunsou," which means Sergeant. Literally, the 3rd kanji is army, and the 4th is office or official, but when put together as one word, it means sergeant, as in the rank. So, likely "Good luck, sergeant". I'm still looking to see if i can find anything else.
>>28033194
Should also mention, it's likely written from someone in Fukui.
>>28033262
Turns out that Fukui, with that kanji, is also a surname in Japan, so in all likelihood, it belonged to "Sergeant Fukui." Might even be their signature, for all I know, since it's obviously handwritten and not typed or something.
>>28033301
There was a Sergeant Fukui who apparently died in a battle against the British that's listed in a book on Google.

Will probably have to do some fine fitting but yea, go wild

Japanese acquired a lot of these. Some through private pre-war sales, others when they started occupying Spanish islands in the Pacific.
After WW1, the Spaniards were cranking these things out left and right to make a buck.
Here's mine. Any one have any info on it?
My ruby is the best ruby
I have a Ruby but the firing pin is broken everything else is fine and the bore is clean and there's zero rust on the gun do you think some place would buy it or no?
>>28027315
It's the early part of the 20th century, you just stick it in your pocket and no one cares.
