I went to test fit my new rounds I reloaded and after cycling 2 rounds through the gun I noticed one of the rounds had a very, very light primer strike. Is this just a primer seating issue, or a 1911 specific issue?
>>
Did it fire though?
>>
>>28022975
I think he means the primers got dinged just from being chambered.
>>
factory ammo, handload, or factory reload?

and have you dicked with the gun at all?
>>
>>28022963
did you slide release it with a round sitting in the chamber? or was that a round stripped from the mag? or was that the result of when you went to shoot it and it didnt go off?

you gotta be more specific....
>>
>>28022992
Oh, I thought he pulled the trigger on them.

Eh, if your 1911 has a floating firing pin, then it's normal and there's nothing to worry about.

Light primer strikes
Test fitting rounds
Adjust your torsion beams or polish your ejector.
Also, what brand magazines are you using?
>>
OP here
its my own handload
i put the magazine in with 2 rounds
and racked the slide twice to cycle the rounds
one of them had a small dent on the primer

8rnd armscorp

Firing pin spring
>>
its also a pretty new 1911
its nothing special, a bog standard ria copy of the a1
maybe only put about 100 rounds through it
and its cleaned extensively after every range trip
>>
>>28023037
there's too many factors in play to determine a reason
>>
>>28023105
Go get a firing pin spring
RIA, shitty handlosds, 100 rounds, cleaned after each range trip
You're an idiot, send you gun back to the Philippines for warranty work or spend 4 bucks on a new firing pin spring
>>
>>28022963
Fuck That

you better keep that thing pointed in a safe direction and at things you don't mind putting holes in when chambering rounds.
>>
>>28023208

Stop.
>>
>>28023208
Spot the noguns.

Any gun that has a floating firing pin (AR, AK, SKS) will do that.
>>
>>28023208
this is only the first time i've seen it do that
it could just be that one round
ive never had an issue for all the rounds ive ever made
>>
>>28023037
>its my own handload
buy harder primers. dont chamber a round more than once. other than that, it should be fine.
>>
>>28023254
most of the time i use cci primers
this was just a new load with a 250g hornady XTP
i usually use 230g LRN
>>
>>28023250
try with factory ammo and see what happens
>>
>>28023282
ill take a look
it is a possibility that the primer didn't seat below flush
>>
>>28023249
RIA 1911
Floating firing pin
Pick one
>>
>>28023304
i might as well just upgrade the spring
im going to do some other upgrades while im at it
>>
>>28023342
You should fix this before you move on to causing other problems.
>>
upon the test with some cheapy tula ammo there is no dents in their primers
>>
>>28023342
highly recommend swaping the ria leaf spring for real colt parts
dropped the trigger pull by a lb
