ok /k/ra/k/ers,

talk me out of buying this
>>
>>28021832
What's the price tag?
>>
>>28021842
haven't even started looking at prices yet. I'm expecting to pay 2500-3000
>>
>>28021992
You'd better be expecting to pay a lot more than that, kiddo. It's not the Counterstrike buy menu out here IRL.

ok, lets just say I'm willing to pay whatever the price is. its a xmas gift for myself.
but tell me why i shouldn't. what are its flaws?
>>
>>28022079
The version you'd most likely get would be the non-SBR, non-FA, 16 inch barrel range toy faggot deluxe.

If you're okay with that, then by all means, get it. It's not my money.
>>
>>28021832
It's a H&K, so you're going to be buying a name more than anything. The sporterized ones I've seen start at around $2,500. If your goal is to shoot .45 out of a 16 barrel carbine then you're better off just buying an AR-15 that accepts Glock .45 mags and go that route. If you want it because it's OP as fuck in Battlefield 3 then you're better off getting the 16 inch barrel version and sending in your form 1 to make it a SBR then sending another form for the suppressor, waiting up to a year for the OK from the ATF and pulling the trigger reeeeally fast to give it the illusion it's full auto. You'll have a better chance of giving Obama a blowie than getting all the shit together for a full fun version of that thing.

Still want to buy it?
>>
>ambidextrous safety

fucking DROPPED
>>
>>28021832
Cheek weld is shit, gun is uncomfortable imo

Weird because the mp5 is fucking perfect
>>
>>28021832
Shitty trigger, at least the one some guy at the range had that I got to try. I'm used to my Geissele, admittedly, but that shit felt about as mushy as a low-quality DA pistol trigger. I'd expect far better from such an expensive gun.
>>
>>28022166
ok, this is what i needed to hear, its waaay too complicated

>>28022194
>Cheek weld is shit
yeah, this is what i'm looking for, practical problems

what other practical flaws does it have?
>>
>>28022185
lol i love when people say "DROPPED" it just makes me giggle for some reason.

I kinda agree though.
>>
>>28022330
The more experience I have with HK the more I realize that "Heckler und Koch" must mean "Mushy ass Trigger" in German. Literally every single HK firearm I have ever come in contact with at any point of my life has had an ultra-mushy mashed potato trigger.
>>
>>28022396
And for the record that's an HK45, VP9, P30S in .40, P30L in 9mm, and a USP .45.

Also not saying it's necessarily bad when shooting live ammo, but if you really just can't handle the mushy then HK is not for you.
>>
>>28022438
I thought the VP9 was supposed to have a PPQ-esque trigger?

OP here. paying that much for a mushy trigger is not something i want to do. very surprised, i thought hk was top tier

In reality this is what's available, and would require serious parts and work to convert. If you plan on getting a pre converted USC expect to pay $3500-$4000
>>
>>28022524
top tier for everything besides triggers. love my USPs to death and shoot them really well, but the trigger is just something you have to get used to. It'll work for forever and a half, but it's not a competition glass/carrot/icicle break or whatever the fuck 1911 fags call it these days
>>
>>28022464
VP9 is exempt from the above rule.
>>
>>28022550
Get the match trigger, yo.
>>
>>28022464
>>28022552
Nah I still thought the VP9 was mushy. It was much better than Glocks and shit like that but for what it was, mashed potatoes. Trigger feel is very subjective.
>>
>>28022575
Which triggers are you used to/consider decent?
>>
>>28022524
What >>28022550 said. If you care about trigger subtleties, get something else, but HK makes good shit even with their mushy triggers. And like I said in >>28022438, live fire is a different story. When you're actually firing live ammunition, you hardly even notice it. Especially in a training/class environment, let alone a high-stress situation.
>>
>>28022575
Couple hundred rounds or so and it cleans up well. Being the owner of both the PPQ and the VP9, the PPQ start off better but the VP9 wears into being better.
>>
>>28022580
For double action, I like S&W revolvers (especially PC guns) and I actually like the Beretta 92-series feel (both DA and SA). And for SA I like 1911s (of course) with a mid-range trigger (not into the ultra-light hair triggers), as well as the above mentioned S&W revolvers and Beretta 92-series SA pulls.

Favorite trigger I have ever tried is this one:

boy am I laffin.....breddy gud

>>28021832
they arnt known for their rigidity. stocks are known to break on a whim. Faux supressors to hide the 16" are fuckspensive. the .40 comes with two different bolts for 165gr and below, and another for 180gr or hotloads.

honestly, Id find a MP5 instead.

>>28022524
as for triggers, idk about their submachineguns, but the G3 and USP triggers are just fine. everyone is just a whiny bitch because they are used to their 1911 custom tuned triggers, or just repeat what other people who own 1911s say.

And as for price. you can get a turkshit POF MP5 clone for pretty decent. Prolly not as reliable as a true HK but also doesnt carry that 2x price tag.
>>
>>28022624
>I actually like the Beretta 92-series feel (both DA
and you say the USP trigger feels like shit? I think its just cause you like shitty triggers and reject anything semi-decent.
>>
>>28022652
Because the 92 isn't mushy. It's stiff and more "crisp."

>arguing about something this subjective
>>
>>28022471
>This
They'll probably have more info on it at SHOT, but last year they were talking a 2016-2017 release and, based on the price of everything else they sell, at around $2k.

So wait a little longer for a cheaper gun that will do AR (read Geissele) triggers, or have a disappointing range queen with more slightly sooner.

DA mode feels like bending a fucking spoon. it is literally the worst thing I have felt trigger wise, besides a mosin.

dont be a dumbass.

I'm in the middle of converting a couple SL8s and have completely immersed myself in the world of HK clones. I can safely say if you want a true clone, any HK long gun will cost you around $5k. The USC/UMP is no exception.

>pic related
I have all of the parts to fully convert the partially converted SL8/G36, I'm just saving up the $2k it's going to cost to have the barrel re-profiled, my G36 rear receiver stub plastic welded to the rear of my SL8, and the magazine window filled.

HK clones are expensive, and the only reason to get into them is if you REALLY like the gun. For the record, the SL8 is a heavy, plastic AR-18 with a shitty trigger, but damn it I want my 90's villain gun.
>>
>>28022932
This. UMP-40 is a cunt to shoot. Money much better spent on an MP5 build.
>>
>>28022965
greentext fucked up. just delete the >

im saying get a 16" with faux supressor and dont bother with the ATF fuckery and be able to take it to your G-ma's to blast off a few hundred rounds in the backwoods.
>>
>>28022977

Gonna fuck with your accuracy man, you'd be better off having it re barreled.

you woulda been better off talking to the russian mob. prolly woulda been cheaper too.

and I thought the SL8 was completely different internals than a G36?

I would literally complete the whole fuckin game with only the nail gun and the nailgun cvar ammo cheat

The loss of accuracy will be so minimal (if at all, depending on who you talk to). It's $250 to re-profile a barrel on what is essentially going to be a safe queen/range toy, or $1200 for an authentic G36E barrel. The thing isn't meant to be practical; it's meant to be cool. Have you ever tried using one of those dual optics? They're horrible, but authentic for the clone.

I'd only suggest buying a non-practical safe queen after you have your fill of practical rifles, which I have plenty of.

>>28022993
>and I thought the SL8 was completely different internals than a G36?
No, they're more or less the same gun. Some things were done to the SL8 to prevent the use of some G36 parts, but those all can be modified.

>>28023009
I'm going for a MG36 clone, so it'll have pic related on it.

Absolutely fucking not.

Let me guess you also carry a 9mm 1911.
>>
>>28022977
Do you bother with 922r or naw?
Inb4 ATF
>>
>>28025552
I do, but only because the person who will be fully converting my G36 clone requires proof that the parts I supply to him are 922r compliant. If I can't provide proof, he won't do the conversion.
