What do you consider the minimum acceptable caliber for self defense in your everyday carry gun?

For civilians/police, probably .32 ACP. I can't imagine asking somebody to rely on .25 ACP.
For military applications, 9x19mm is the minimum useful round.

I dropped the mag racked the chambered round out for pictures. When I went to rechamber I grabbed the magazine, reinserted and it refused to feed. Completely locked.
I Probably would have only had one shot maximum.
Honestly won't be carrying it anymore. This was with FMJ rounds.

.380 is the least I'd feel comfortable with, but would prefer 9mm.
.380 is generally the smallest you can go for self-defense, due to that more or less being the smallest thing companies will manufacture defense loads and pills for.
And honestly they're doing pretty well with it, at point and time. You lose out on penetration for most loads that expand (so they're effectively crap), but for loads built for penetration, you're getting some really great results in gel (I think LeHigh are the best ones I've heard of?).
At the end of the day, expansion isn't as good as penetration capability, and getting adequate penetration out of a small pistol with good accuracy is worth far more than a .55 expanded pill if you miss or it doesn't penetrate well enough from hitting a bone.
