did smith and Wesson fuck up by not releasing the M&P shield in .380 first, then 9mm Like glock did with the 42 / 43? Would you have bought one?
>>
No.
>>
>>28020066
Of course they didn't
>>
>>28020066
Shield would be heug for a .380, that's why they made the bodyguard.
>>
Smith fags buy revolvers.

Glockfags buy anything that says Glock.

So for Glock it was a good strategy. Smith wouldn't have sold any because people would understand it should be a 9mm.
>>
Did Glock mess up by not releasing a 40S&W version of the 43?
>>
>>28020066
>would you have bought a .380

Lol no
>>
>>28020435

They would have messed up if they did make one in .40S&W.
>>
>>28020066
>did smith and Wesson fuck up
no, both companies know their audience. Glockfans will buy anything glock, and .380 isn't as popular so they correctly let out a .380 first then a 9mm so people would eat it up. Smith and Wesson already had a .380 bodyguard, and making another .380 wouldn't have sold as well
>would you have bought one
probably, but im a terrible impulse buyer and I like weird novelty guns
>>
>>28020066
By "fuck up" do you mean "Not fuck over their fans"? Then yes.
>>
>>28020959
No one got fucked over. Seriously, no one was forced to go out and buy a Glock 42. If you did, that's all on you.

It was a smart business move and generated talk and hype for the 43. If you were in their position, you would have done the same.
>>
>>28021547
Yeah that definitely wasn't a sneaky business move to get fanboys to buy two weapons instead of just the one they wanted. Not to mention putting out a product for sale as basically a beta test for the new design.
>>
>>28021773
There was nothing sneaky about it. Companies in just about every industry do the same thing.

It's a smart business move and they didn't dick anyone over. No one was forced to buy it. Every single business is ran on the premise of creating profit. Any business who does not strive to make profit goes out of business. And really, they didn't even upset their stakeholders except for a few people pitching a bitch on the internet who probably don't own either a 42 or 43
>>
You both are retarded, Glock knew that people wanted a single stack 9 for decades now. No one forced anyone to buy the 42, but every Glock fan did because it's a Glock. Abusing their customers' retardedness is going to backfire eventually.
>>
>>28022015
That isn't abusing their customer's retardedness. Hell, I'm a Glock fan and I knew that the 43 was going to come out as soon as they announced the 42, I just didn't know when. People weren't patient and some people did want a .380 (not really sure who though).

Lots of companies do this. You put out one product that builds hype for another product. It's a smart business move and when the population has attention spans the size of a gnat, no one will remember or care except for the people who feel bitter and blame Glock for their purchase or the extreme Glock haters.

I'd love to hear the excuses if HK had put out the VP40 before the VP9.

Or how about the Shield only coming out with a Safety only version and then when they released a no thumb safety model, even people who already owned a shield went out to buy another.

It's not going to hurt Glock.
>>
>>28020426
It was a terrible strategy, nobody is buying the Glock 43 because everyone in that market already owns a Shield
>>
I'd sooner spring for a mid-size M&P9.
>>
>>28020066
I would love a 380 shield, I think the 9mm is just a little bit too snappy and I'm perfectly comfortable carrying 380.

Speaking of m&p shields the LGS has a 9mm on sale for 315$ would it be worth it?
>>
>>28022489
if its the no safety, why the fuck are you not there buying one right now?
>>
>>28022885
Just got back from trying I haven't been stationed on base for 90 days yet. What kind of bullshit rule is that. I have never herd of a base that did that before.
>>
I own the G42 and the 43 is not a 42 in 9mm, it's actually bigger.

Everyone is disappointed by the 43. It's a gimped version of the 26

>>28022885

Why does that safety bother you so much. Just don't use it if you don't like it.

What kind of person would buy another gun just to get rid of a feature that makes no difference?
>>
>>28023198
>Why does that safety bother you so much. Just don't use it if you don't like it.
What? Are you fucking stupid or somethi-
>I own the G42
that explains it
>>
>>28022885
or take 20 mins and file down the bar that connects the safety
>>
>>28020066
If I could get a .380 conversion for my Shield I'd already own it.
>>
i'm considering buying a Shield to carry, and don't understand why /k/ hates the model with a manual safety so much. whats the deal? also, should i opt for the 9mm or .40 version? i already own a full size pistol in .40(p226), and would like to keep a common caliber for my carry gun, but would consider 9mm if there was any real advantage.
>>
>>28024031
They are convinced that in the hurry to draw your gun you will forget how to turn off the safety and die.
>>
>>28024114
Yupp this. Or that if you insist on ignoring the safety and carry and train with it off and one day draw your gun and pull the trigger and act all confused when it doesn't work...... Oops safety was on just this once. Too late. You dead.
>>
>>28024031
The 9mm holds one more in the magcapacity deparrment. And it will be way less jumpy to shoot. Easier to train with. Less muzzle flip means more controlled/faster followup sgots Ammo is everywhere and super cheap. Pretty much every possible category could be seen as a advantage except the bullets them self being slightly smaller. .40 in a big all metal da/sa gun = Loud and fun and powerful. .40 in a small plastic carry pistol= flinchy and not much fun. For me at least. Your decision in the end tho
>>
>>28024282
That doesn't happen if you train. Not knocking on safetyless guns but if you train with your gun it's not a big deal.
>>
>>28024114
>>28024282
>>28024353
thanks for the info, anons. if i do pick one up, i'll probably just opt for one without the safety. i'm used to da/sa pistols like my p226 and p230, so the double action trigger has always been enough of a "safety" for me. how does the Shield's trigger stack up, weight and feel-wise? i'm actually very unfamiliar with shooting striker-fired pistols, save for a single magazine from a G19. Additionally, i am convinced that 9mm is the way to go. if my 226 in .40 hadn't been such a good deal, i would have looked for one a pistol in 9mm.

No, I carry a full size Pre-A1 1911 though, I doubt my opinion is valid in this arena.
>>
>>28021773
glock can be a lame company at time but dammit if theyre not business savvy. Even though I think the 42 was retarded I think how they did it was impressive

Well, at least you've got class on your side. Although you lack brains.

>>28024481
The trigger is meh. Mine was about 6 pounds and had a shitty reset, put the Apex kit and trigger into it, and some better sights, now I can shoot a police qualification score at 100yds.

For defensive use the stock trigger is acceptable, I liked the gun a lot more than my friends LC9
>>
>>28025522
if i pick one up, i'll certainly look into the trigger kit. i noticed the houge grip on yours. how comfortable is the stock grip? i take it they don't offer the alternate sizes like the regular m&p models?

It is the pistol I am most comfortable with, I am very proficient with it, it is reliable, I see no failing in my logic to choose it
>>
>>28020426
dumb question but:

does glock manufacture anything other than their fucking handguns?

no.

Just goving you shit, our guns hold the same number of rounds man.

>>28025592
The trigger kit is worth it in my opinion.

I actually dropped the slip on grip, it didn't make enough difference to bother with.

A skinny stabby Knife?
>>
>>28026067
They started as a combat knife and e-tool company, they made actual hand grenades for a while as well.
