Has anyone owned one of these NVGs? I'm interested in buying a set of PNW-57s, Should I? There only 70 EU on varusteleka.

Pic is of my 1PN34, I miss it alot, so I kind of want to get a set of these to fill the gap.
>>
>>28016682
>Should I
The manikin wearing them does looks pretty happy. However, I seem to recall Varusteleka offers zero guarantee about their functionality.

I just went ahead and bought it since they're cheaper this time, hopefully it all works out.
>>
>>28016793
Interesting buy.
It's a passive IR amplifier, so you need the IV handheld.
Which is not provided anymore.
That being said, any IR source will help you, but it's pretty crappy in functionality, if you ask me.
>>
>>28016682
I bought one. It is very strange to wear and use. I found plans online to jury rig a battery pack similar to the ones that were used in this thing. Mine was the vehicle version that was supposed to use a cigarette lighter type thing though. It worked alright.
>>
>>28016880

>passive IR amplifier

fuck me you could just get an IR floodlight and a digital IR viewer
>>
>>28016682
>literal Gen. 0 NV
>only 70 EU
>only

They're a fashion accessory.
A cell phone will serve you as a better NV device.
>>
>>28016899
Well, duh.
Did you really expect a Gen 1 for 70€?
>>
>>28016983

wait WHAT

link me to this website immediately
>>
>>28016894
pls post, have been looking for tutorial so I can justify buying one
>>
does this website ship to the us?
>>
>>28017066
They do, however it takes a little while.
>>
>>28017078
cool
im not in dire need of it so no big deal waiting
>>
>>28017009
Just read OP's post you retard.

It's VARUSTELEKA. Probably one of the best milsurp websites in europe.
>>
>>28017127
It is a finnish site to be specific.
>>
>>28016682
I previously helped another Anon get his PNW-57A working, if you need my help I'd be glad to provide it.

>>28016690
What happened to it? 1PN34s are damn nice scopes. The PNW-57A won't hold a candle to it in terms of performance, but they're still nice units.

>>28016880
I mounted an IR source to the end of one of my SKS rifles to boost my PNV-57As' performance. Works pretty well, given the age of the equipment.

>>28016899
Sure, but that's not nearly as entertaining.

>>28016729
This desu

>>28016969
>I've never used Gen.0 NV: the post
>>
>>28017234
I ended up selling it to a friend, I figured I wouldn't have much use for it since I was leaving for the navy. I figured the PNW-57 would fill that hole in my heart for now until I get my next duty station that is in a gun friendly state.

are the helmets worth the money ?
i want one because they seem snuggly
>>
>>28017430
If you weren't interested in the NVG, you can just get any communist bloc tank crewman helmet. They're pretty cheap as is.

Does anyone know of what kind of night vision optics that post com bloc countries are using now? I've seen pics of 1PN34 every now and then, but I still rarely see them.

I got a call from navy fed today because they thought it was a scam
>>
>>28016682
I got a bad one but the helmet was pretty fun to wear and the case it comes in is bretty cool. You'll have to ghetto rig a battery to them but other than that they are pretty east to set up. Something was wrong with mine however. It would just make a clicking noise and not power on.
>>
>>28020648
>>28020660
Varusteleka was brought into existense by one guy, and he's doing pretty well these days.
>>
So, my understanding is that Russia straight up doesn't try to compete on wearable NVGs anymore, just on scopes. Is this correct or am I missing something?

I am guessing that there are no pictures not because Russia doesn't have them, but because they use Western shit when scopes aren't enough.

Friend's dad was a truck driver in the Yugoslav army before the war and wore one of these. On one occasion to avoid hitting a vehicle in his lane he went off the road and crashed into a rock. Hit his head on the steering wheel and managed to break his jaw.
What I'm trying to say is don't wear one while driving trucks for the Yugoslav army.

Thats pretty cool, it got me wondering now, if I could connect an IR laser to my AK and double it with my PNW 57
>>
>>28021272
I was shocked at how well they actually work indoors.
>>
>>28021291

I have to admit that's true. I think they work well enough that they added some measure of magnification to them to prevent criminal use.

1PN63 goggles, late Soviet-era Gen.2. They are supposed to rival the PNV-57E in performance while being more compact. "Moonlight Optics" used to offer these units, rebranded under their label.

Search "Russian night vision" on eBay every now and again, they show up regularly. Anything over $300 is too much.

>>28021193
They're alright units, the issue is that they are attached to a massive frame that straps onto your face. If you're not careful putting them on, it will be extremely uncomfortable.

>inb4 for you

>>28021207
Nice! You have to get an M16A1 to mount it on now! And they say the 1PN34 looks oddly large...

>>28021289
Be careful with IR lasers, they can cause eye damage easily if you're not mindful of where they point.

Super fucking rare Russian camo.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (Mиниcтepcтвo пo чpeзвычaйным cитyaциям) or MYC manages several key duties, including disaster relief, search & rescue and civil defense. Some units of the MYC wear a brightly colored variation of the standard VSR 3-TsV camouflage pattern having black and dark grey shapes on a bright orange background.

I'm trying to think of a way i can jury rig one of these to a scope while the scope retains its accuracy.
Also, it looks like you're going to need an IR or UV flashlight to see past 20 yards, or have a light source where you're looking.

Either way, i think im going to buy one and sell it on Craigslist for 200 dollars, probably say it's an heirloom since i'm half Anglo half Khazar.
>>
So is there any Gen1/2 night vision that might be decent enough for me to use as an attachment for a scope?

I've thought about jury rigging a monocular to fit with a lens cap, but I don't want to shell out 2k for a fucking modern commercial one purpose built.
