Ok /k/, I was looking at buying some sort of carrier vest, mainly for innawoods fucking around and urban operating if the snackbars come around. What's your recommendations?
>>
Shellback tac
>>
>>28015493
Shellback Banshee, if it's still the best cheap carrier. Avoid condor unless you want it for airshit only.

Also, don't be a poorfag, and get ceramic plates.
>>
>>28015610
What plates do you recommend?
>>
>>28015610
>$170
Are you sure that's the cheapest one that's worth it? I'd rather not spend 3-400 dollars at the end of it if possible. And yes, I am basically a poorfag
>>
>>28015624
AR-500 level IV plates, they stop up to 7.62's

i thought you autists bitched about these being poorfag plates
>>
>>28015754
AR500 is level 3, not iv

but you can't expect a /k/ shitposter to know the difference.
>>
>>28015903
The level 4s are ceramics. They're kind of hard to fuck up. There's issues with their steel, mostly being heavier and not filling out carrier pockets, so they bounce around.
>>
>>28015933
In this case, AR-500 is the brand. Context motherfucker

When buying a second plate for your back should i go flat or curved?
>>
>>28016055
Buying curved front, flat back is a poorfag money scrimping measure. Gotta keep that extra 20 dollars for hotpockets eh?
>>
>>28015610
>Avoid condor unless you want it for airshit only.

Still using this meme.
>>
>>28015610
>Avoid condor unless you want it for airshit only.
Tell me again how your Condor has failed you while you were operating in hardcore mode?
>>
Mayflower APC or LBT 6094A
>>
>>28016253
I bought a condor vest for my exgf and it seemed to work. You can tell it's much lower quality than a Banshee or PIG. It just isn't stitched nearly as well and the cordura feels thinner. I can't say it will fail but I can say it's put together to be cheaper from start to finish so remember that.
>>
>>28015610
the Banshee was discontinued months ago and replaced by the Vanguard
>>
>>28016253
Stitching blows ass and won't carry weight for very long. Tears more easily, lower grade material.
>>
>>28016529
Well for literally the price of the leading competitor's magazine pouch, the entire plate carrier is a pretty good deal. Where else can you get a plate carrier with molle for $35?

Granted I'm not saying it's in the same tier as Banshee but it's also 1/10 the price.
>>
>>28016579
If you're just running around the woods and fucking around with it, get the Condor. If you're going to expect hard use or life threatening situations daily, get the Banshee at minimum.
>>
I can highly recommend the FirstSpear Strandhogg plate carrier! It is not that cheap but holy fuck it will last you a lifetime. I believe the norwegian army uses FirstSpear plate carriers as well, I could be wrong though.

What do you guys think of the 5.11 Tactical carriers? I have doubts about a full scale war, but if I'm going to buy I want something I can trust

No, first time buying plates here and i don't know if curved or flat is better for you back
>>
>>28015933
AR500 armor steel plates meet NIJ ratings. The level III ones don't stop 55gr fmj at close range (inside 50-75 yards) but their level III+ does. Their level IV stops pretty much anything you throw at it.
>>
>>28016253
I bought a mag pouch and radio pouch from them. Both came with unravelling stitching. If you need pouches, you can get all sorts of milsurp ones for like five dollars. If you really want to poorfag it up with a PC, find a cheap British of French milsurp one. They work, they're tough as fuck, they're cheap.
>>
>>28016218
What's condor good for?
>>
>>28016579
Can you stop ordering shitty stuff online long enough to save up another $30?

>>

>>28016543
Yeah but it's not like /k/ is operating every day in a harsh environment. Plus, poorfags will be poorfags.
Let AR500 LVL III dudes get condor, and LVL IV Ceramic get Banshee or First Spear or whatever.
>>28018983
>French milsurp one
Eeeewwww.
>>
For a full on carrier, the Shellback.

For a minimalist set up? Grey Ghost Gear makes a great small carrier for large AR500 Plates.
>>
>>28018997
It's cheap and if you don't mind fixing the stitching yourself some of the models are all right

I've had this one for airshit and it's alright. Not the highest quality stitching but it does the job. My one complaint is that the side MOLLE loops can't do shit. Here's mine. Hoping to get a Derma plate carrier soon. Haven't had any trouble with mag pouches yet.

145$/plate at bulletproofme.com
>>

Man all that Velcro or whatever just looks weird to me.
>>

yeah ive seen those but i think they have to be sapi cut which are 220$ and i struggle to justify paying >500$ on a plate carrier ill probably never use :/
>>
>>28019315
That's what AR500 is for. Shitty Condor carrier and some level III+ plates, leave them in the basement closet and spend the rest of your money on hotpockets.
>>
>>28019327
>the rest of your money on hotpockets.

?
>>
>>28019327

Does anybody use a US Palm Defender? You can get Level IIIA soft armor for front and back for $250 or just the carrier and a IV front plate for $240.

Define "work" and "doesn't work".
Also define how you're planning on using them.

work would be doesnt spall in my face if i get shot and capable of stopping m855, doesnt work would be everything else.
it would be for shtf scenarios, some examples would be but are not limited to- ultimate chimpout riots, economic gubment collapse, gubment oppression, paris style attacks, happening.
>>
>>28019429
AR500 LVL IV +Condor would do the trick, desu.
Sure they're not as durable, but you're aiming for punctual use anyways.
>>
>>28019381
Either set is going to work equally well because no one buying plates on /k/ is ever going to actually need or use them.
>>
>>28015493

>>
>>28019429
Dude, go on YouTube and do a little searching. There's videos of all different kinds of plates getting hit by a bunch of different rounds.
>>
>>28019315
>i struggle to justify paying >500$ on a plate carrier ill probably never use :/
Then struggle more, i'm paying that per plate (Hoplite level IV). Someday i'll have a full suit.
>>
>>28019627
thats nice man and its not like i dont have the money for it i just cant convince myself to pull the trigger, was hoping there would be a black friday sale desu
>>
>>28019602
its common knowledge that steel fails to m855 and ive seen quite of few videos of rounds smacking plates and sending shrapnel all over the place.
with that said steel is definetly better than no armor
>>
>>28019465
ill look into it m8
>>
>>28019974
Sadly no Hoplite sales. Anyways just buy it a piece at a time.

Anyways what do you fags think is a fair price for Ranger Body Armor with a very worn carrier? Its Level IIIA soft with a pair of medium SAPI plates. I need to get rid of it once I get my other plates.

err... I guess they do have a sale, you can get their shoulder plates for $400 for the pair vs $500 normally.
>>
>>28018998
British carriers don't accept SAPI plates though
>>
>>28018998
that cant hold sapis plus it looks like shit, like its about to fall apart
>>
>>28020146
>>28020390
Not to mention brit gear is 100% made in China. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing, but it's funny to suggest this rather than Condor. At least Condor has some made in US stuff and they use real multicam fabric.
>>
Anyone else, help...?
>>
>>28015493
Not op but relevant question. Should I get pic related or a korund vest? They are plate carriers with soft armor. Its about 170 for the 6b45 and 160 for korund. I can get plates with them as well for a decent price.
>>
>>28023013
pic related korund vest.
>>
>>28023013
Digiflora seems like a better camo, also, MOLLE.

Hence I'd go with the pic related.

is the mayflower APC of quality? i mainly need to have something for magazines, but i'd like to have the option of throwing plates in it later, im curious how well the front clip on rig thing works
>>
>>28023365
Yes
>>
>>28023294
I'm not gonna use molle though because eventually it'll sag like old lady titties. I think I'll be using a smersh battle belt thing. I'm personally thinking korund.
>>
>>28023810
The digiflora one looks like it's made of some kind of cordura, which looks a lot more rugged than the material the korund is made of (looks thin as fuck, kinda like tent material).
>>
>>28023822
>>28023822
Good point, I'll look into that more too. The other korunds don't look like that, I'll ask.
>>
>>28019465
was unaware the lvl4 was ceramic, after watching a few vids it appears you sir are correct.

Wasn't there another AR type that was cheap and a bit lighter. AR680 I believe.

Also any recs on a low profile carrier? Something I can wear under clothing as well as over (has some molle webbing)

Pls answer or I will post 3 threads about it tomorrow thx

He's probably fat as fuck if he needs curved plates for his back.

Think about it, your back isn't curved.
>>

>5.11

I'm wearing their taclite pants on duty right now and they're a fucking nightmare. I don't understand how this brand is taken seriously. The elastic bands on the waist that are supposed to make it "one size fits all" are so tight it stays at the smallest size, and the material is so fucking cheap it didn't last a month and I do barely any walking. I've walked maybe 5 miles in these things and the cargo pockets have worn holes from the items inside them. I keep a small can of mace in one pocket and it wore through, now there's a big as hole. The other one has a flashlight and its digging into my leg right now with no material separating it. That was another issue, the elastic caused the items in the pockets to chafe against my skin to the point of literal bleeding, and yes these are properly sized and no I'm not fat.

5.11 is a fucking joke. It's cosplay tier stuff. I hear the very same cheap material complaints against their boots and backpacks, don't see why it would be different for carriers.

Seriously though how the fuck are they still a brand? Do hardcore operators buy new pants/gear every month?
>>
>>28027957
Lose weight, fatty.
>>
>>28018945
Definitely get curved for both. Flat plates on your back are no where near as comfortable as curved.

Whats up with this Hoplite stuff? Tron ASR seems like a good deal for a plate carrier and two IV plates
