OP, to answer your question, Louisiana is pretty lax on fun laws, and just about every Motherfucker who has one open carries it or has it on them at any given moment. Only downsides of the state are:
1- the heat. In my city it broke 105 degrees for a consecutive 37 days this summer with 80-800% humidity.
2- the bugs. If you can handle mosquitoes the size of small cats and cockroaches the size of a gorilla, then you'll be okay

I seriously recommend Texas for a few reasons. Namely, being able to find a nice place to live, reasonably priced.Even in or near our largest cities. Also finding a job here won't be hard at all if you have any form of education beyond high school.
We also have cheap gas...for now.
