Since the last one closed....

What's the best 12 gauge reloading press for a beginner for reloading 12g brass (actual brass shells) with only black powder and wadding?

My constraints:
Limited space.
Limited budget / don't want to overspend for a first reloader.
Preferably with a primer-press included.
I'm going to be loading ultralight loads with no shot generally, unsure if that'd affect the decision.

Pic semi related.
>>
>>28001577
>black powder and no shot
for what possible reason?

To answer your question, any press will work fine. But why?
>>

Shits and giggles. Honestly? Because I'm bored, and I think I found a way to make that tennis ball launcher adapter work.
Back on topic,

Where can I get a an Imbel receiver and a headspace shoulder to complete the set? Also it's my first FAL do any tips would be great.
>>

Brownells and Midway used to sell metric receivers, not sure if they do anymore. As for shoulders, Apex Gun Parts may still have some in stock.

Oilcan had some great FAL build guides, but I lost them when the archive went down. You might be able to find them on Desu Storage though.

how the fuck is she supposed to draw, the hammer will scratch her other bewb at best and get stuck on the bra at worst

Use a pipe wrench and a piece of iron shaped to touch the right areas when fitting in the barrel.
Make sure it's impossible to take out or put in without standing on the damn wrench and piece of metal.

Other than that, head spacing cannot really be skimped on...
PS: fuck the idiots who yammer on and get Assad if you "do it wrong"

I have a Stevens 320 I got recently.
Put around 50 slugs, a box of buckshot, and about 120 birdshot through it.
Cleaned it about a week ago when it only had only been shot a few times it and the bore was fine.
I just saw this. Is it just really bad pitting?
I just got done cleaning the fuck out of it and this is the best I could make it.
What the fuck could have caused this? I had seen that 320s were fine for slugs, so I'm confused.

I want to get a lever-action rifle for hunting purposes. I'm having a hard time choosing between two.

This is one of them:
>.44 Magnum
>10+1 capacity
>standard 20" barrel
>stainless steel

This is the other:
>.357 Magnum
>12+1 capacity
>24" Octagonal barrel
>blued

The latter is more expensive, but money is not a concern between these two rifles. I'm having a hard time choosing because on one hand, I like that the first rifle is a more powerful caliber and it's stainless, but I can't ignore that the other rifle has a longer barrel, and it's octagonal.

I'm unwilling to consider any different rifles.

I've got one for you /k/, a friend of mine just picked up a Winchester 1300 and we finally got to shoot it today, however it's having a weird ejection issue. All shells feed from the tube fine, except for the last one (regardless of how many were in the tube, be it one or five) which is not picked up, but instead is just tossed out of the loading port. I'm not a shotgun guy, so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening only on the last round. Any thoughts?
>>
>>28006776
Get the .44. It'll be a ton of fun, can shoot .44 spc, and a hell of a velocity boost in that 20" barrel. A badass brush gun.
>>
>>28006866
Sounds like a weak spring issue. Get wooden dowel to plug up a round or two of the mag tube, like you would for hunting. See if this fixes the issue.

I hear a lot of people say "big army" on here and I only barely have a clue what it means. Could someone explain? Google doesn't help.
>>
>>28008597
It depends a little on context. Big Army usually refers to the bureaucratic/political leadership within the Army and the power they have. The Army maintains the largest number of active duty personnel. That means they require a lot of funding, and have a lot of clout with how they choose to spend it.

These days there are about 500k active duty US Army personal. Navy is only ~300k, ~190k Marines, and ~300k Air Force.

Even going back to Vietnam, Army had ~1.5 mil out of the 3.5 million total active duty personnel across all branches.

I know some of the semi-auto versions have a reputation for being finnicky. Lots of failures to eject and the occasional double feed. .32 ACP isn't super expensive, but it's also a fairly useless cartridge. That said, my dream is to one day SBR one and slap a suppressor and a tiny red dot on there that will fit in between the wires of the stock. I will dress up like an Eastern European gangster and silently remove raccoons from my trash cans.

I just got a Rossi Model 68, pic related is the model. I've read that back when these were made S&W just sold their blueprints to Rossi, so these are just S&W revolvers with worse finishing. Rossi also says in a recent pamphlet that all Rossi .38 specials are rated for +P. Would I be safe shooting +P's out of it? Not regularly, but I dont want it to explode if I put five rounds through it.

On that note, what is the best JHP .38 special round and the best JHP .38 special +P round?

Minimum weapons ban, plus you'll have to fight a murder/manslaughter charge. Because why would a Canadian CC other than for premeditated murder.

>>28011395
Penetration next to no chance. Damage due to impact with slugs mainly is pretty high. Assuming that by armor for handguns you mean soft body armor.

Flechette's are a different story and are fairly effective vs soft armor, thats why a lot of places ban sale outright.

>>
>>28012933
Do you like shooting 22lr handguns if yes then its basically the same thing, cheap, spammable, kinda boring.

If you like heavier rounds nothing beats the thump and devastation of larger caliber rifles.

If you're stuck on the fence just get a cheap mosin, .308 bolt, 12 gauge and go from there.

TL:DR 22lr is nice for training people/first gun but haven't shot it since then.

it's like you're some sort of third world immigrant or something. Over here in the US of A, we don't do what the government says unless we were already going to do that thing.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing because you think it's worth doing, not because some faggot in a suit said so on CNN. Hell, i'm in the process of building my own bolt action, and once i finish, i'll build a semi, and then i'll build a fortune spender. Old K-frame Military and Police Model 10s were rated for "a limited number" of +P loads; i.e. if you put five through it in a self defense scenario, the gun won't blow up, but it's not a good idea to shoot those regularly.

So if the metallurgy is any good on those Rossis; with the design being damn near identical? Yeah, most likely you'll be fine.

Question: Is there an actual <$850 way to get in to playing around with night vision rifle sights that will withstand recoil from a SCAR 17s?

I've been seeing these Photons and lower-end Armasights and those look like they'd be fun and really all I'd need for goofing around in the field beside my house in the dark, but if it would just wind up being a several-hundred-dollar doorstop I'll just forget the NV venture for a while. Would a .44 magnum bullet have no problem passing through a .44-40 barrel?

The reason I ask is because there's this gun store that's selling this rifle on clearance. The price is stupid-cheap, so of course I want to buy it. The reason it's so cheap is due to a manufacturer error. They say that the chamber is definitely .44 magnum, but the barrel is "stamped as .44-40."

Now, I don't know whether that means it's a .44 magnum barrel with the incorrect stamp, or if it's actually an honest-to-god .44-40 barrel.

Normally, I would ask the store, but I saw this advertised online and they're closed on weekends. So I turn to you, /k/. On the possible chance that this rifle does indeed have a barrel rated for .44-40, can a .44 magnum go through?
>>
>>28021111
Ok well if it really is chambered in 44mag you can try chambering a 44mag, if it fits it is a 44mag chamber. If it doesn't fit but just barely the chamber is probably 44-40.

The problem is 44mag is more than twice the pressure and .001" larger bullet.

My opinion would be that its unsafe, and not to buy because since 44mag is slightly larger the barrel could not be rechambered properly to 44-40.

I prefer being able to put autistic shit like flares and beenades in my shotgun over the increase in possible rate of fire. 12 gauge has a bit of a kick, and I don't think I want to doubletap. As far as reliability with standard shells goes, the 930 is a solid design.
At the end of the day, you're probably shooting just as fast with either. The key differences being if you have to shoot one handed for whatever reason you'll obviously be glad you don't have to work the pump, and whether you would rather rely on your ability to work the pump or the gun's ability to cycle automatically in a survival situation.

I'm at an impasse /k/.

I'm looking to buy myself another gun as a birthday present, but I'm afraid of buying something I won't use or appreciate. Let me start by listing what I have (almost all pistols)/my reasons for owning:
>Kel-Tec PF9: cheap, beater, CC everywhere pistol
>Sig P938: Nicer CC everywhere pistol
>HK P30SK: Indestructible, CC almost everywhere pistol
>FNS-40: Gift, winter carry & bear country carry
>Savage MKII: First gun ever, given to my by pops @13
>Stevens 12 gauge: formality shotgun, given to me by my pops a couple years ago

Yep, I have a pretty serious handgun fetish. I just feel like they're what I'll get the most use out of for everything from every day CC purposes, to range trips, to SHTF

So why the indecision? Here are some options that have crossed my mind, beginning with things besides pistols:
>start building an AR from a lower; gonna happen one day why not start now
>invest in a prebuilt AR or the like (SCAR, MCX, w/e)
>Invest in a rifle in general (mil surp or otherwise) not AR platform; seems like a dead-end to me, specially now that SKS's are overpriced
All the potential handgun purchases I've thought about
>Ruger SP101 as a 'first and last' carry revolver (I only own semis)
>M&P Shield because it's so fucking common now, about to pick one up on principle
>FNS-9c; love my full-size and these look promising/inexpensive
>CZ 1911; looking for another 'first and last' 1911 to round out the collection
>Glock 26/19 because fuck, everyone own a glock, though I could just skip that stage of life

Now it gets weird, because I'm actually considering purchasing a SECOND 'backup' model that's one of the pistols I already have. I figured I could get another Sig or HK and have a training model that gets shot to shit, and a carry model that stays tight and shiny. But at the end of the day, my collection wouldn't really be growing.

I thought I knew what would be the most logical, /k/, but I realize I need your advice. Thanks for any in advance

There's a final video coming out on Wednesday revealing the MSRP and the configuration details beyond multi-caliber support (5.56mm, .300 Blackout, 7.62x39mm, 8mm Kurtz).

I want a home defense rifle and I want it to be reliable. Will an AR be reliable enough for home use or should I go for an AK instead?

I really really don't want my gun to be a jamming pile of shit. Like out of a thousand rounds I might accept one failure.

Accuracy differences don't bother me, the furthest im going to shoot it is maybe 100 feet.

I live in california if that effects the decision somehow.

>>
>>28034295
The "hurr durr AR is a jamomatic design" is a wonderful myth which is spewed by fanboys.

For civilian purchase, there are both highly reliable and highly shitty ARs and AKs. Don't get a shitheap and make sure to inspect it properly first.

For ARs, the biggest single point of failure are poorly maintained GI magazines. Swapped out for something better, many potential problems vanish.

Since you're in California, I know you've got to deal with a bunch of retarded laws and magazine limits. To the point where it might just be better off to get some fuddy rifle.

Whatever gun you get, learn how to handle and clear malfunctions. Every firearm has the potential to jam or malfunction. AKs, revolvers, all of them. Learn your weapon of choice and how to deal with it when it goes wrong.

Tight fitting squared end brass rod down the bore, same in a chamber of the cylinder. Probably make it stick as far forward out of the cylinder as possible, while still allowing you to rotate the cylinder. (so you can open the thing) dykem one of the rod ends, doesn't matter which.

Now, "align" the rod filled cylinder with the bore. Twist the rod that is in the bore to mark the dykem. Remove, disassemble blah blah blah. Measure the mark on the end of the rod. That is the offset. If it isn't easy to measure... You can always just cut away the unmarked end of the rod, and mic the now raised, end of the rod you have remaining.

Good luck, anon.

Reliability really isn't an issue for either, if it ever jams something is wrong. I'm at like 1500 rounds through my shrubmaster ORC without a single malfunction. I'd get rid of it as soon as it did. They're only good for slavaboos and poorfags. Once you get into 'AKs' like Galil and Valmet you start seeing comparable performance with ARs with that AK reliability.
>Reliability really isn't an issue for either
If you clean it and care for both. AKs don't really need to be cleaned. It helps, but really isn't vital. And good fucking luck with an AR in arctic conditions.

I'm thinking it's the VEPR but since /k/ is known to be home to some of the cheekiest breekiers I thought I'd ask here.

>best
Shit, forgot that was a trigger word around here.
Best in regards to not caring that it's choking down steel case. That's priority number one.

Brother is trying to sell me his Browning A bolt for stupid cheap.

Havent really ever done anything with precision guns, how does the A bolt stand up to similar guns like the Remington 700 or Winchester Model 70?
>>
>>28039056
Better than stock both for sure. Rem 700 has way more aftermarket.

Anyone have any updated version? Or is it still completely actual? I haven't read all of it yet, but there may be something more actual.

I want to make sure I can take care of my clothing and equipment.

If I were to get a revolver for my first handgun, would I be able to avoid developing poor habits and shooting form and such by using .38 special instead of .357?
>>
>>28039777
You would have cheaper ammo so you can shoot more, so that's a plus

Should I buy the case of 36 steel mags from HK parts, or the case of 36 alloy (aluminum) 'paratrooper' mags? The steel ones look to be in rougher shape, but the alloy ones are inherently less durable. Steel price is 2x alloy. What do?

>>28039777
It'll help.

I'm thinking about getting a PTR 91 for my first gun.

I want a nice .308 that has a plethora of aftermarket stuff.

Is anything stupid about this choice?
>>
>>28042367
>I'm thinking about getting a PTR 91 for my first gun.
Excellent choice for a rifle, but you might want to consider a handgun first.
>I want a nice .308 that has a plethora of aftermarket stuff.
G3 and such rifles have some of the absolute best aftermarket available of any .308 out there, but a lot of it is extremely expensive and hard to find. AR-10s have a much more readily available aftermarket in the US.
>Is anything stupid about this choice?
Yes. It's a bit of a heavy hitter for a first gun, and the ammo is a bit expensive for learning to shoot. Your shoulder and wallet are going to hurt after the first few range trips, but it'll make you more of a man in the end.

A bit of unsolicited advice; starting sometime next year (I assume early) all PTRs will have an optional paddle magazine release. You want this if you don't have ET fingers. You can apply it yourself if you want, but I'd just wait a few months and let them do it for you. Save a few shekels and some time.

I can't buy a centerfire rifle until I'm 21

Can I drive to a different state with less restrictions, ie., Vermont and bring it back with me?
>>
>>28044242
I suggest moving to a free state.
>>
>>28039777
.357 is basically .38spl magnum

Buy a .357 and you can shoot .38spl from it. Just take proper care (cleaning) before shooting .357 again and everything is fine.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these two watches?

Which one do you think would be better for basic outdoor use, and running?

Does anyone have a recommendation of a better gps outdoor watch/all around watch

Having a pistol grip doesn't make it a pistol, you can buy a pistol grip shotgun before 21
>>
>>28047674
They are considered an "other" like ar15 lowers, so you cannot buy if under 21

about the hague convention, which America never ratified (muh hollowpoints)
does it apply to any country formed after the convention? ie any new border redrawing after the wars, anything like that
>>
>>28048425
We actually can't use hollowpoints designed to expand for the sake of expansion. While we didn't sign the Hague specifically banning hollowpoints, but we did sign the Hague Convention IV of 1907. Article 23 of which states
>it is especially forbidden to employ arms, projectiles, or material calculated to cause unnecessary suffering
Which was determined to include expanding rounds. We can, however, employ rounds designed to do something else that happen to expand. 7.62mm "open-tip" MatchKing was designed solely for long distance accuracy, and happens to expand like a motherfucker. It should also be noted that this only applies to other signatories. We can use whatever the fuck we want on nationless terrorists or armies of non-signatory nations.

To the point, we don't do it mostly because it would be considered uncivilized, cruel, and uncouth. It's same to assume new nations would choose not to do so for similar reasons. Being reviled by the international community doesn't end well. See Syria.
