First of all the front drive wheel is not attached to the hull at all.
Small road wheels are bad at mud and snow.
That turret at side is placed too low to be usefull in many situations.
And is that a crew hatch at the side? What a horrible weakpoint in armor. Same with those view ports under turret.
Hull mounted mortar was already mentioned.

Yeah if you want a gun that can do literally nothing to anyone besides unarmored humans.
Pretty sure all crew served weapons are minimum 1.00 cal

Then you'd be wrong.

Imperial Guard officer bolt weapons and stubbers are .50 cal

IG Heavy Stubber, IG heavy Bolter and Space Marine bolters are .75cal

Legion Heavy bolters are 1.00 cal

Auto cannons are 57mm
>>
>>27956319
100mm is the thickness of the plate, not the effective thickness in RHA, dude.
>>
>>27960482
Try again, the original figures are 180 to 210 mm RHA, Rolled Homogeneous armor; Not adamantium was specifically stated by Imp. Armor Vol 1, the weigh is 310 tons

It's a land battleship, apparently. According to some fan wiki they only store half a dozen shells in the turret ready racks, with the rest stored in a magazine a few decks below. They use a funky elevator autoloader thing.
>>
>>27960508
I'm sure the figures for literally everything in this IP have varied wildly with every new author. It's been going since the 80s, and there must have been thousands of different people writing for them by now. Just pick whatever number you think looks cool and roll with it, i'm sure you can find a book published in 1997 that agrees with you.
>>
>>27958762
Bolos are OP. In a good way. Especially the later marks after the Concordiot era.

I kind of wish Keith didn't die and elaborated like crazy on bolos, including the super advanced war machines from all of the various factions and also loads of additonal societial and philisophical consequences when for instance a war machine grows a conscience or refuses to be decommissioned, etc. The current stories touch on it but eh.
>>
>>27960526
>land battleship

It has an armored magazine in the center of the hull complete with a shell elevator. It has at least seven separate weapon systems, each with its own gunner and possibly loader, too. There are three separate decks, including a berth to the rear with three enclosed bunks. All three decks are traversed via ladders, and there are numerous hatches on the interior that can only be accessed via a fingerprint scanner, locking the shitty pleb ratings in their sponsons until the commander opens the door to either let them out or hose out their remains.

Pretty radical, but it'll never be a Bolo.

I would thoroughly reccomend volumes five through seven, the Siege of Vraks series. It has all of the rules for the models and shit that nobody actually cares about, but also has a pretty hefty chunk of literature detailing the campaign. It's gritty trench warfare, loyalist humans versus human rebels, over the span of an entire decade with plenty of detailed maps and force organization charts. Well worth checking out even if you don't care for the IP.

I know the thicknesses, the dispute is whether that is RHA equivalent or just the physical thickness.

>>
>>27961157
Most likely because the guy writing the book had absolutely no grasp on the terminology of vehicle armor and grabbed an acronym that he kept seeing listed with armor thicknesses. This IP is all about fan wanking unreasonable power levels, I seriously doubt they intended this;

"...composite armour created by bonding layers in huge, high-pressure cookers, giving it a level of protection incomparable to most other Imperial vehicles. The first armour layer, in addition to structural supports, is constructed of adamantine. The second is a titanium/plasteel composite used to reinforce strategic locations, such as the assault ramp, front glacis and hatch doors. The next is a thermo-plas fibre mesh to absorb and dissipate high-energy laser weapons, followed by the first of two ceramite layers, designed to ablate against extreme heat and melta weapons. When combined, this armouring makes the Land Raider virtually immune to heavy artillery..."

to mean RHA equivalents we moved past in 1943.
>>
>>27961124
It's 38k years in the future, where investigating and experimenting with new tech is grounds for execution without trial.

The BhaneBhlade weighs 310 tons and has a top speed of 25mph on flat terrain, somehow the world is not as advanced as what we are capable of now.
Despite the weight being 310 tons and the speed being laughably slow we're accepting the idea that this this has 3 decks, and is 13mx8mx6m is this thing made of paper?

The Leman Russ Vanquisher has 2 main variants, 1 is a long barrel with a simple APDS round 1/3rd of the bore, the other is a rocket assisted HEAT round

Ceramite as adamantium with layers of ceramics integrated, sounds oddly similar to a laymans understanding of chobham

The Landraider is listed as having a 300mm thick plate of steel in an old issue of White Dwarf.

Tl;Dr it's fun bullshit but 40k ground shit sucks massive ass if you look at the stats they claim for it
>>
>>27961262
>Most likely because the guy writing the book had absolutely no grasp on the terminology of vehicle armor and grabbed an acronym that he kept seeing listed with armor thicknesses.
Exactly, however regardless of fanwank it's official figures

> This IP is all about fan wanking unreasonable power levels, I seriously doubt they intended this;
No the IP is about humanity backsliding towards extinction, the hope for a better future being a lie and referencing the fact humanity will allow it's worst aspects to define it, if we where to survive

The fact that they are referencing titanium, a material that we can know and study the strengths of, as an important reinforcing component of the armor should tell you how seriously to take the official figures

It is oversized and too heavy to operate in most places.
It would get stuck nearly everywhere and would break through the ground in cities if there was a garage or sewer under it. Aircrafts would take this slow chunk of steel out immediatly. Also look at all the high caliber canons. The Machine canons at the sides and front are 25 mm. I guess. This is what I found about the main gun: "This ten metre-long cannon fires rocket-assisted shells able to hit targets many kilometers away. Each shell is a metre in length"
The "Demolisher canon" at the front is already Battleship caliber lol. Storing ammo for all these weapons inside the tank is impossible and would make it a Bomb capable of taking out a whole block if destroyed.

1/10 would use as road block or to shows off at parades.
>>

>>27956177
Not bad as far as 40k goes. Still pretty bad.

The heavy bolter is better since the turret sits on top of the hull rather than the front of it. Keep the ammo right bellow the turret ring and your good. Ge rid of the demolisher, though. The Baneblade is so heavy that you can drive through anything the demolisher can destroy and it's too much of a weakpoint on the glacis plate.

The sponson bolters don't make much sense. They've got a limited field of fire from that kind of mounting and the positioning complicates the lascannon's mechanisms. remove it entirely, wield armor plates over the port, and add a coaxial heavy bolter to the lascannon.

The tread skirts are good from the side but not so good from the front. It shouldn't be too hard to extend them, though. The treads themselves are fairly wide but could be wider. Then again, the treads could always be wider.

The rear has a bunch of exposed piping and paneling. It's a fairly major weakpoint. Granted, I have yet to see a tank that's not weak to the rear but this is about the size of a small house.

The main turret is a bit short, restricting gun depression. Normally, this would be pretty minor but this tank is about three stories tall so gun depression is pretty important.
