Has anyone developed a CQC art for pistols? Lets say sub 10 feet.

Is it possible to combine hand to hand combat with gun use in a coherent fashion?

What would be the best way to train?

Yes, it's called center axis relock.

Why not shove gun into stomach and shoot?

>>27953662

It's simply not possible to know if someones a threat or not at a distance. Circumstances change up close, realistically most conflicts involving a CCW will be sub 10ft.

>>27953666

That's doesn't incorporate melee combat.
>>
>>27953686
>Why not shove gun into stomach and shoot?

Because if you're touching your opponent with your gun then you're fucking up, especially if you're touching them in a manner that could push your gun out of battery.
>>
>>27953786
this, if you're close enough to touch somebody with your gun before you can shoot them you probably fucked up and put yourself in a dangerous situation in the first place.
>>
I suggest you learn a martial art that appeals to you, get a blue gun, and use some imagination in incorporating the two.

Fuck. Not OP. Entered that in the name field on a completely different board and forgot to change it back.

Gun might malfunction
They are close enough to grab/attack/etc
You're too close to get a good aim at their upper chest

I'm LEO. This is what we are taught and this is your best option. Anything else is too high of a risk to yourself.
>>
Yeager has vids on this. Push back of gun into attackers body to keep in battery. Only one shot doe.
>>
>>27955069

Except thereis no substantial proof that the gun will go out of battery. I tried t with an unloaded fullsize and the slide doesn't move. It does move some on my subcompact though as the barrel is slightly recessed.

>>
>>27953606
Shove guy away with your off-hand, shoot from the hip with your firing hand, aiming slightly low so you don't shoot your outstretched arm. Protect your gun hand at all costs.

Anything else is a waste of time and effort. The whole point of having a gun is that you don't have to punch and kick people, so your goal should be to keep the attacker(s) away from it so it can keep shooting.
>>
>>27956705
I can do it with my P226, if you push the top front corner of the slide against a hard surface (like a ribcage).
>>
>>27957130

>"Your honor, i specifically carry a gun so that I cannot be obligated to ounch or kick anyone. To have punched or shoved that unarmed man for being in my personal place would be a direct violation of my personal code, honor, and jutsu."

"W....what? Go to jail. Now."
>>
>>27956091
yeah, reid henrichs carries a "backup" revolver specifically for pushing into people , but otherwise back off the gun and run the slide after is what they teach.

What if you want to use a holster, like a human being?
>>
>>27953606
You have to keep it smooth and dynamic. My system is simple and based on distance mostly. If I need to defend against multiple opponents than it's a smooth transition from full extension isosceles, to pulled back, to a muzzle down single hand from the hip with the off hand extended to parry attacks.

If however I know it's only one opponent I may fall on my back and engage from a guard position. That's the most likely thing to happen if it's a street defense situation with one attacker not armed with a firearm because it is easy and very effective.

I also practice the CAR stance where you aim the gun sideways just for cars and pieing a very tight corner. I am not interested in the CAR attitude towards gunfighting. In a gun fight the one that aims wins and in a knife fight you need a hand free tondefend your vitals.
>>
>>27957130
I agree with the idea but disagree with how to do it.

If you can, grab the slide with your off hand with your off leg forward in a bladed stance, then you can be shot worst case once.

And in some situations it may be better to do a hard two handed shove and then draw depending on what's going on.

If you can knock the person off balance it may give you enough time.

For what purpose would you put your off hand on your slide, instead of using it to create distance between the attacker and your muzzle?
>>
>>27958108
Ah nevermind, I realized you're talking about a situation where the opponent has a gun already drawn on you. At that point, you're pretty much fucked no matter what you do, so it's worth a try.

Bomb vest no jutsu. This way, you can eliminate all enemies in a 10 meter radius without firing your handgun once. Also has the side benefit of rendering you invulnerable to bullets after use, as well as getting you a shitload of virgin poon.

>I am not interested in the CAR attitude
Works really well for me, being cross eye dominant. That said, I never really took a look until recently. Turns out it incorporates a lot of the solutions I found helped me with my eye dominance, as well as certain changes to footwork and weapons handling that made a lot of sense to me coming from a martial arts background.

Though I'm sure strict CAR practitioners are much more pronounced with their technique, I've unconsciously adopted the majority of it and believe it works for me. To each their own of course
>>
Efficient drawing techniques, things like:

this and center axis re-lock could conceivably be turned into 'CQC' but there's no one doctrine that's taught.

Firing from retention is the only method I'd recommend in any fashion and I'd recommend even more being trained by a professional to learn it so you don't shoot your fucking hand.

Beyond that the advantage of a firearm is distance which is why we use them extensively now in lieu of swords, spears, etc.

You're risking the slide not chambering another round or a jam getting it that close to someone so it's better to back the fuck off while you're aiming to defend yourself.

Or get a snub nose revolver.

Real life isn't John Woo, Equilibrium or Metal Gear m8.

>sub 10 feet
just shoot them but don't extend your hands all the way out
>contact
push thumb against back of slide to ensure gun is fully in battery, fire
>hitting the person with your gun like you see in movies
don't do this unless you're completely out of bullets even reloading within 10 feet is a better choice

This. You don't even need to practice doing it, it's so easy. I do it every time and it works like a charm I've never had a gun jam on or malfunction on me doing it this way.

>>27960330

In a war it's easy to see the enemy, in practical gun use, you don't know who the enemy is until they are within a certain proximity of you.

Unless you're capable of successfully using your gun at sub 10ft ranges you may as well not carry.
>>
>>27960906
Until you forget to take your thumb off the back of the slide in the heat of the moment, and it breaks your thumb.

While that's great and all, you've automatically fucked yourself because a) shit grip and b) good luck with that one bullet. Now you require a second hand to recharge and I'm not willing to bet my life on said hand's availability.

tl;dr
still very retarded
very very retarded
please fucking stop

Except you're retarded. Unless the handgun in question has a fixed barrel it can be pushed OoB from the front.

So I'm looking at J-frame airweights (S&W).

Some say .38 Special and other have a +P designation. What's the deal with firing .357 magnum outta these?

You can't, that's why they don't say .357 on them.
