How boned is the gunship?
8 maybe 10

Unless the A-10 is parked, kiss your ass goodbye.
One on one, don't be silly.
Manpad vs AC130 is a more even match.

Honestly, not very
the A-10 is an air to ground attack plane so its not really suited for fighting another aircraft, plus look at the AC-130 , it can lay down accurate fire from more than a few miles so it could probably just kill the pilot from out of the A-10s attack range

Pretty boned

The A-10 can carry sidewinders, so it's unlikely either of them would get into gun range.

>An F-15E Strike Eagle fighter/bomber dropped a laser-guided bomb onto a Hughes 500 helicopter in the air. The helicopter was on the ground initially loading up commandos, though it took off. Even with it taking off they left the laser on it and the bomb hit it when it was "200 or so" feet in the air. A special forces team on the ground witnessed the event
The A-10 regularly carries sidewinders, and has had confirmed A2A kills in wartime.
The AC10 has no A2A capabilities at all.
A10Cs can load at least a dozen sidewinders.
I know that the AC130 has a ton of flares and chaff, but still, that's a lot of sidewinders.
Maybe a Chair force bro can answer this for me. What kind of support does an AC-130 get in combat? As in, do they have jets scrambled in the area or on escort to come swat away enemy aircraft that may want to engage the gunship? My logic says yes but I've learned logic never trumps logistics in the military so I ask.

holy shit.

I dont think they get sent out if there's any threat of enemy aircraft in the area. They''re really soft targets for anyone other than militias/rebels/terrorists.

If there's any credible AA threat at all, they don't fly.
