Note: this is NOT /thg/
Since we're so obsessed with flinging shit over which tank was the "best" in WW2, Let's see how'd you do if you were told to design a tank.
Rules:
>no post-ww2 tech
>no shitposting
>>27933458
Just make a slightly enlarged and up armored Sherman firefly.
Boom, now you got the perfect WWII tank.
German stubby 75mm gun
Early T-34 turret
Hull from a Bob simple
Transmission from the Tiger P/ Elefant/ Ferdinand
>>27933549
Oops. Bob Semple*
>>27933491
Have fun with your massive smoke plume on firing and having no HE shells.
>>27933563
Then make an enlarged and up armored Sherman carrying the 8.8 cm Pak 43.
>>27933458
>take sherman hull
>move tranny to back
>use rear mounted tranny to reduce profile
>widen tracks
>use reduced frontal cross section to uparmor as much as possible
>mount turret compatible with 90mm gun
>give commander a cupola with good visibility and a shitload of optics
>>27933669
Oh, I forgot.
>get rid of of assistant driver
>either use saved space to make even smaller or to carry more ammo/fuel
>all ammo goes in wet stowage in only one or two spots to reduce chances of being hit and cooking off
>>27933458
Just needs a 75mm HEAT round.
Im playing War Thunder right now as Russia. Had a game where I just sat behind a building near the enemy spawn and sniped everyone with with T-34.
>glorious Stalinium steel
>folded over 1000000 times
>AP rounds sharp like shashka
>penetrates anything
>fascists go home

War Thunder is the most rage-inducing thing I've ever played. I can do everything right and still get fucked over because Russian armor is bullshit and their shells are nukes.
I'd rather play World of Tanks. Sure it's completely unrealistic, but at least they admit to it. Unlike Gaijin.
I haven't even touched planes in months because any fight against Soviet or Brits is a pretty much guaranteed loss.
Can we do this the proper way? We each add a part in MS paint?
I've drawn the treads. I made them really long.
>>27933922
>and their shells are nukes
This shit has more or less made me stop playing GF. The MD-8 fuse shell roflstomps everything around 3.7, and 6.7 is essentially a shooting gallery for the IS-2 because it gets a fucking shell developed a decade after Berlin fell. Both of these shells have an uncanny ability to penetrate at impossible angles and turn into antimatter devices upon detonating.
>>27934085
Don't worry. It's gotten better. Now you can be in a Tiger or Panther and face PT-76s with post-war shells that have 200mm of pen.
Fuck that game. Nonsensical matchmaking that lets Soviet vehicles face the German tank they were designed specifically to counter. An absolute joke.
>>27934045
/k/ontributing chassis.
>>27934109
>PT-76
>Play for the first time in a while a couple days ago
>Fuckhuge update, don't bother to see the changes
>Eastern Europe, park M-18
>Target comes into view, spots me as well
>Is that a...No. No, this isn't happening. Tier IV or V, but not at cocksucking III. No.
I had no goddamned idea that thing was in the game until I saw it in my crosshairs. Didn't even fire, I had to register the bullshit that was aiming right at me and I spent the rest of the match waiting for a fucking BMP-1 to show up and shove a Sagger missile up my ass.
>>27934171
>Don't you remember, it was T-72's that captured the Reichstag in 1945?
Brace yourself for the next update
no need to thank me.
>>27933458
>forego tanks all together
>spend money on giving every soldier at least four Panzerfaust 60s
WW2 tanks are just death traps.
>>27934207
Might as fucking well, I'm already taking FIN STABILIZED SHELLS into my worthless hull while in a M4A2 Sherman.
>>27934221
>"Keep pulling, we don't want to miss the battle again!"
>light weight.
Jokes aside.
>Low profile chassis and turret
>Wide tracks
>High velocity gun. 76mm - 90mm
>turbocharged diesel engine
>Sloped armor
>>27934221
I tried to recreate the /k/ patch using my personal one as a reference.
>>27934281
I have to say, the WT april fools day joke was damn fun. Running around in super fast inflatable shermans shooting carrots and potatoes at people was great.

The worst part about war thunder is that Germany isn't allowed to have anything halfway decent due to the automated response of "LOST THE WAR" from autistic faggots in the forums.
The war thunder general over at /vg/ is even worse.
>>27934387
Someone put the GAU-8 coming out the front
>>27933869
Then you realized that the Bulldog with SABOT rounds outclass everything in its range.
>>27934462
Those /vg/ threads are horrendous. I can';t believe I used to waste my time there.
They get asshurt because Germans get prototypes, like the Maus. Like it somehow means they get better stuff when in reality their postwar tanks and ammo invalidate the one thing tanks like the Maus has (Its armor).
You ask for something competitive to use and for MM to be realistic, so you stop getting raped almost every game, you get called a Wehraboo and insulted.
Fuck that game, fuck the devs, and fuck the community.
What year and month is it? Which country am I?
>>27934537
Durka durka mohammed jihad?
Medium tank in the 50 ton range, 4 man crew, 3 man turret.
The priorities, in this order, will be
>ease of production/cost
>mechanical reliability/field serviceability
>crew survivability
>tactical mobility
>fire control/optics
>effective infantry support
>effective anti-tank gun
The anti-tank gun may be bottom of the list, but I'm guessing with 50 tons to play with, all of these can be done pretty well.
Then I let trained engineers do the work of coming up with more complicated specifications.
>>27933491
Oh like a Pershing!
>>27934776
Oh shit, I forgot a big one.
>Modularity, as in the ability to upgrade/replace guns, engines, and segments of armor as needed with minimal fuss
Guys.
Listen.
Guys. Listen guys.
Guys.
I have the best idea.
Guys.
I put ROCKETS.
Guys listen there.
I put ROCKETS on my TANK DESTROYER.
Anyway. High-yield AT rockets on a light tank. Yea or Nay?
The Hungarians seriously toyed with the idea in 1944-45.
>>27936723
Rockets are always yea.
100mm frontal armor sloped at 60 degrees
>>27933458
French Somua.
No, I don't need to go any further. Produce more of these and Germany would have run into an iron wall that shot back.
>>27936723
/R/ing the picture of hungarian assault jacuzzi
T-44 hull, Pershing turret, Tiger II gun.
Rate my tank.
>>27936767
Assault Jacuzzi is of kolored.
Remove Il-2. Yuo are worst Sturmovik.
i design a tank that is the m4 sherman

Up armor a hellcat
>>27933458
>front-mounted engine
>the glacis is a thin hood but is highly sloped
>fuel tanks in front of the gearbox
>every sides of the turret are protected by spaced armor which also serves as storage bins.
>To protect the crew against mines fragments, the hull floor consists of two layers
> V-shaped belly
> 90 mm rifled gun (semi-automatic breech)
>a thin zinc layer around the barrel works as a thermal sleeve.
>in order to increase the survivability, the gunner and the commander are sitting on either side of the gun breech.
>stereoscopic rangefinder
>gunner sight : x2 and x6 magnification
>V10 diesel engine with supercharger
>automatic gearbox with at least two reverse gears .
>hydraulically-controlled steering system
>torsion bars suspensions

Mantlet shot trap?
>>27937272
mantletless turret
>>27937297
What's the vertical line in front of what appears to be the turret face supposed to represent? I'm slightly lost.
>>27937318
I've updated my drawing
Black : turret support ring and main gun
Dark grey : cast armor
Light grey : spaced armor
>>27937252
Before I forget :
coaxial Browning M2 heavy machinegun mounted above the main gun.
cute, fast and armed with a flamethrower
i am well aware i am shit at drawing, but i am even worse on computers. and yes, i know i fucked up the roadwheels
>Jagdtiger chassis
>M3 Lee style casemate with offset gun
>Primary gun is the 8.8 cm Pak 43
>little turret on top belongs to an AMX-13 ( i am also shit and noticed this was post-war too late, sorry)
>>27937952
Is that a wunderwaffen'ed m3 Lee/Grant?
>>27934776
>50 tons
>WW2 medium tank
wat
>>27938006
well, i tried
>>27938006
Makes me think of the SA-80, maybe the germans COULD have fixed the M3 Lee, they just had to make it..Bigger.
