/k/, I know nothing about weapons but it interests me. Where's a good place to start?
>>
Good question, I don't have a great answer. All I can think of is just spend time around any friends or family that own guns to start.
>>

Sorry, my family hates weapons and would think I was a sociopath if I mentioned buying even a pocket knife.
>>
>>27932696
basically, you want hands-on experience
reading shit online is "ok" for some basics, but you'll probably end up spewing bullshit and getting slammed often because you'll believe anything you hear because you don't actually have experience

Okay. Thanks, anon.

And I should add, just drop some cash on a basic break barrel pellet gun or something. It's safe enough not to kill anybody, and because of the drop, you'll be forced to learn to account for drop & distance.
It's non-threatening enough to break into shooting probably without alarming the family you say hates weapons. I've introduced anti-gun leaning people to shooting with my pellet rifle before. Now they love shooting the pellet rifles together. Eventually they were even ordering hundreds of rounds of 762x39 to shoot through my guns.

Not K
YouTube anything you are specifically interested in.
Grow up.
Move out of your parents house.
Enjoy life.
>>

Some YouTube channels like forgotten weapons give some cool rundown on gun history and fiction that will help you become familiar with basic gun information.

I would also avoid /k/ and other "modern" YouTube channels. Those places are going to make you dumb and racist and a social outcast.

I guess I sound pretty edgy and aloof there but /k/ be crazy and if you spend s lot of time here you will become crazy as well.

Go to a shooting range and ask for some beginner courses.

If they're NRA certified, they're ok.

Started out like you, browsed /k/ for a few years, got myself an SKS and cleaned it myself.
So...this, basically. Just try to take some things with a grain of salt and ignore meme-ers/shitposters.

Also, in terms of family, I converted my dad who had not shot anything since the 80s to just as big of an enthusiast as me just from him helping me clean the cosmoline off my SKS and how into it I got. You never know.
