>probably just bought the overpriced single box of premium ammo at the hardware store

You got some learning to do

Yea I know, bust since I already have a .45, 9mm, .357/.38, i figured I'd give the .40 S&W round a shot. Also slightly larger wound channels than 9mm while having a larger capacity than .45 acp.
>>27925124
Ruger makes bretty good guns imo. I have a GP100 and it's fantastic. >>27925136
Not my pictures I still haven't bought the gun yet.
>>
I've shot the 9mm pretty extensively

didn't care for the trigger much,

it had a few FTFs in the couple hundred or so rounds i put through it

chamber indicator is annoying as shit

ended up buying an XD. .40 is interesting but just get 9mm or .45. .40 is being phased out on the federal level due to them finally realizing that a good JHP 9mm will get anything they need done so that cartridge is going to be much more expenisve to shoot

>>27925030
Shot one of these almost exactly a year ago. Ergos are shit, sights are shit, calibre is shit, ugly as shit, trigger is the worst shit. Its shit. I can't stop you from buying shit, but trust me, it is shit.

Strange from what I've read they seem very reliable. Like I said I already have a 9mm and a .45 just thought about filling in the gap between them so to speak. My other choice would be an M&P but they're more expensive.
>>27925190
Damn, couldn't have put it more bluntly sir. I can respect that.

>less powerful than a 45 and less capacity than a 9mm, because compromise is awesome!

Idk, don't do it because trees?

I'll say it again, if I want power I'll reach for my 1911 or GP100. If I want capacity I'll go to my 92fs. Is it really a comprise to just want a little bit of both worlds?
>>27925251
Seriously lol?
>>
Probably not an awful gun, but there are so many striker-fired options that seem better for me to justify getting a Ruger.
VP40
Walther PPQ
Glock 23
P320

But if I were going to buy a 40 at all, it would be a gun that was designed for it, like a USP or P229. Most 40s were designed as 9mm; the USP and 229 were designed for 40 to begin with.
>>
>>27925030
Get a Glock 23, a 9mm conversion barrel, and some Glock 19 mags too. You will thank me later. Ruger makes a pretty good revolver, I don't plan on ever giving up my stupid spurless GP100, but their semi autos leave a lot to be desired.

>>27925265

Idk, I thought it was funny when I posted it.

On a serious note, why do you want a .40? Just to have one? I've got no problem with .40 cal but if you don't really want a specific gun in .40 and you already have a 9mm and a .45 it seems like it might be a purchase you regret unless you just really happen to like the Ruger.

I don't own a .40 but I've heard a lot of good things about Springfield XDs chambered in it.

I did like the ruger but not tremendously. I dunno, I think I just have an itch for a new gun since I have a little cash to spare. There's just to many damn guns I want.....
Pic related.

Wound channel is not why 40 is better than 9. It's better because the heavier slug will penetrate better through barriers and heavier layered winter clothing better. So it's better than 9 because heavier and better than. 45 because smaller gun. At least that is how it is based on my priorities.
9mm is better for poor fags and new shooters alike.
Just depends on your judgements of value per attribute trade off. Just don't listen to these parrot headed meme spewing noguns.
