Hey /k/, I need some help making a decision.
I live here in Kekifornia fighting the good fight. I'm looking to get a P-01 but all the vendors for my LGS don't have any.
All of the handguns on the CZ DOJ roster expire January 1st and I'm worried that the handguns will fall off and the vendors won't restock in time or at all.

I've been eyeballing the P-01 for the longest time with the PCR being my second choice because I'm really not a huge fan of the loaded chamber indicator.

What should I do/would you do? Wait it out until around December and see what happens or just go with the second choice?

Buy online. Ship to gun store for FFL.

If that's legal in CA.
>>
>>27925247
I figured I could do that, but I was really hoping to support my local LGS; hell, I work there during school breaks.

P-01s are hard to come across sometimes, at least from the vendors. I got lucky when I asked my LGS to look around for one, one of their vendors happened to have a single one while not expecting more for at least a few months. Best bet is to find one online and get it shipped to your FFL. You're still supporting them since you will pay a transfer fee (and NICS, etc fee for living in shitfornia).

>All of the handguns on the CZ DOJ roster expire January 1st
as long as CZ continues to pay the fee, you're fine.
All the guns on the list, or a majority of them, are exempt from NEWER list requirements as long as they keep paying the fee to stay on the list AND they don't change anything about said gun they are selling to CA.
Hence why there is a buttload of gen3 glocks in CA and little to none of the gen4's here.

In other words:
If CZ comes out with some new model, unless that new model satisfies the retarded new roster requirements, they can't put it on the list.

As for the chamber indicator on the CA compact/PCR/P-01, it's up in the air. I have a P-01 that has no indicator, but there are ones that do have them.
They are not the flaps with "chamber loaded" like on the Sigs or the Shield. It's a small silver dot metal that peeks out a bit.

Wait so the California approved list isn't based on public safety at all, but on which companies pay them off? Love it.
>>
>>27925247
It's legal.
But it comes down to:

-Willingness of the retailer/seller to take out the 10+ red mags
-Willingness of the retailer/seller to want to deal with CA at all
-Willingness of your LGS
-Willingness of you wanting to pay the transfer fee + $25 DROS fee which, on the higher end, comes out to $100 for everything.

Czechnologic!
>>
>>27925458
pretty much, yeah.
And with the super safe microstamping requirement coming into affect, be prepared for near drop off of all new handguns coming into CA. Because let's be fucking honest here, you really think that law is going to stop you from just per-purchasing a regular firing pin and swapping that shit? You think it'll stop criminals from just filing that fuck off in less than 5 minutes?
How about revolvers? Are new models going to be outright banned?

It's a very fucking stupid roster. I personally think it's one of the more pressing laws we have to repeal here, along with conceal carry. The other things can wait, unless we somehow got a shot in the arm with legal power.
>>
>>27925362
Fuck your local LGS dude. Buy the gun. They don't give a shit about anything but your wallet.

I'm reading on Bud's product page that some of the P-01's will have 75D slides with what I assume are chamber indicators. I'm just not a fan of another place for dirt to get in and something running along my top strap.
By the way, is Bud's a good online retailer? How retarded are their warehouse and sales staff?

What worries me is that many of the companies on the list, such as Beretta have renewed their fees for 2017, and CZ hasn't yet.

>>27925458
The DOJ requires a company to submit a specimen for drop testing in order for that handgun to be approved for the list. It's absolute bullshit but until that stupid legality is repealed, that's the game Kekifornians need to play in order to keep guns alive here.

Sorry, I'm Central Coast.
I'll give it a few days to see if the vendors get them in stock, then I'll just get one off of Bud's.
Handguns are required to ship via 2-day air, right?

I'll probably end up going pic related to my P-01, for some reason it looks like a little Mk.23 with a mini LAM. It's pretty cute.

Why did they never make those in 9mm.
>>
>>27929483
Because its a cz40, not a cz9? Honestly I don't know, probably something Colt specified that they wanted it in fohtee cal.

Debating whether or not I want to get the 40p as well. Definitely going to save up and get a cz 1911a1
>>
>>27929776
Yeah, they probably stuck with the 40 S&W as to not undercut their own 75B. But still, the straight angle of a 1911 grip with the 75 slide ride.
>>
>>27929465
Lucky for you we sell online too
>>
Just picked up a P-01, any sight recommendations? And can I install them myself?
>>
>>27929483
Ian on Forgotten Weapons did a video on it. Something about might as well use .40 since mag limits were at 10. Bigger bullet, same capacity.
>>
>>27929857
Do you really hate the stock sights that much? I'd say use them for a little bit before choosing something new.
>>27929871
I watched that video too, and that's a good point- forgot about that.
>>
>>27929825
Yeah its a breddy cool gun so far. Haven't taken it to the range yet (all I have for .40 is ranger t ammo) but it feels good in the hand, if not a bit bulkier than the 75 or a 1911. I'm excited to see how it handles, inly.40 I've shot before is my sigma so hopefully the added weight helps with the snappiness of the recoil.
>>
Can anyone show me the size difference between the P-01 and a Shield? I feel that the shield is too small and thin, I want a bit more capacity but I don't want it to be too large either.
>>
>>27929874
You gotta admit that the glow-in-the-dark sights are pretty shit.

They're not clear in daylight or low/no light, they're completely pointless.

I just dropped some white paint in the divots and have been much happier. I can see why people want to replace them as soon as possible.
>>
>>27932097
They're not glow in the dark sights, they just sort of look like them
>>
>>27932122
They're glow-in-the-dark.

Shine a flashlight on em for a few seconds and they light up for a minute or two.
