I have a chance to get an HK USP .40 Compact DAO for 500 bucks in like new condition.

Is this a good idea? How do I know if it had the LEM trigger? It has night sights too.

Thanks for the help guys.

Comes with 2 mags

Good gun or no?

Wants 500 or to trade for a flock 19 Gen 4 which I have to trade.

My daily carry is a Steyr S9A1 but this HK interdasts me.

Not a huge fan of .40 but a USP is the gun to get if that's what you want something in .40. If it's really "like new" then that's a pretty damn good deal.
>>
>>27923141
>how to know if lem trigger

They'll tell you and charge you more for it, also if you've ever shot another da/sa you should be able to tell.

Its a good price man if you have other guns in .40 do it, if you are specifically looking for a .40 do it. you can do much worse for that price lol.

No safety btw. I don't know much about the gun so....any info and what not would be great guys. I have Googled but it confuses me..I have never owned a DAO gun and curious is all. My thing is if I traded or bought this could I sell it for a profit if I hated it?

>>27923173
I have a CZ75 tactical so I should be able to tell right? What is the LEM trigger? Can I inspect visually to confirm it or what? The night sights are easy. The LEM trigger confuses me and Google only brings me shut forums like the high road circle jerking over HK.

>>27923163
That's my thing? If I hate the gun could I sell it for 650 or 700?

Definitely, unless there's something horribly wrong with it.
>>
>>27923218
Is it possible to Mod it to DA/SA and add a safety?
>>
Hate to hijack, but HK45CT or USP Compact for conceal carry?

Get it bro. That's a pretty good deal, plus with a conversion barrel you can shoot .357 SIG as well.
>>
>>27923298
But is the trigger dicks? Can I make it DA/SA and add a safety?

.357 sign makes me hard though. I have 5 guns in 9mm. I used to have a FN .45 tactical but I sold it for an AK pattern plus cash because gumby. I have never owned a .40 call and I still need to get a 10mm glock
>>
>>27923269
Handle both and wear them if possible and decide that way mate. Any cool shop would let you holster them and see how they feel.

Personally I used to carry my glock 19 but I downgraded size to my steyr s9a1
>>
>>27923238
I think so.

In terms of LEM vs DA/SA, they're typically on par in their own right it just comes down to preference.

The only think to be careful of is if it was like a V2 LEM (or heavy LEM) that was converted to V1 (the light version). A lot of times the conversions lack a lighter spring somewhere so you get ZERO improvement with the trigger pull over DA/SA, especially considering HK does SA right

USPC is my carry and I'm 5'9" and 145 lbs. I wish they had flush mags but idk if they have them.. I didn't like how the HK CT handled.

> but it's the same gun.
No it's not.

>>27923141 What is date code, sounds like a good deal imo.
>>
>>27923141
500 is a pretty good price. You might not like it but you can just re-sell it for a small profit.
>>27923238
It should be modular, but I don't know if they retained that feature on the compacts.

Pros and cons bud?
>>
>>27923238
Usually the cost in doing so brings the price near up to the cost of buying one new on sale. I looked into this in regards to both Sigs and HK and realized it was pointless when you could find a used model of the desired action for a little more and much less than the parts + handgun would cost. Unless you can find take off DA/SA parts or something I wouldn't bother. If DAO is what you want though, by all means do what you will.

The two letters on the side of the weapon.

A 0
B 1
C2
D3
E4
F 5
G 6
H 7
I 8
K 9

This would give you the year of manufacture.

AA would be 2000

DO IT

Pros:
>It's gonna function
>It's gonna function well
>It's gonna chamber hollowpoints/frangibles well
>It's gonna mitigate a lot of snappiness, even in .40s&w
>It's gonna be accurate
>It's gonna make you look like monseiur secrit skwirel the super Solid Snake operator

Cons:
>.40s&w is bad at nothing but also excels at NOTHING
>The lack of jams will allow you to put thousands of rounds of ammo through it without stopping, meaning that your barrel might literally be shot-out from continued use. (This was an actual issue for my dad, I considered buying him a custom-smithed replacement barrel for his birthday)
>accessories are weird

About the accessories; I never really found any of the proprietary rail accessories to be that great/even exist, so I had to buy a picatin adapter that traveled off the end of the frame and made the gun look ugly. This is a big deal, because it is VERY hard to make a usp look ugly.
>>
>>27923486

Can't remember off the top of my head but there were a year or two that had more lemons than others.
>>
>>27923538
So by the cons are good things lol

>>27923541
Definitely gonna google. Thanks mate
>>
>>27923350
Thats the hammer spring. The LEM has a heavier hammer spring.

Every USP I've ever shot has had a pretty good trigger on it. Plus the USP is the gun to get if you're going with .40 I actually have a glock 20 and it's usually my carry, and I like it quite a bit, but after I buy the Coonan .357 a USP in .40 is next on my list. You have the opportunity to get a like new one for $500. Do it. Just do it.
