ARs offer more chances to play with how you want it. More accurate, no cheek slap, just as reliable. I would same more from my experience because my AR has never jammed and my two WASRs jam once a mag or more.

Pure preference. I honestly like the ARs more so I'd take the Ruger (I love Ruger guns too) and AKs have been getting more expensive. If you like an AK though, it's fine. Buy one.
