The Growler is fairly unique as a carrier-based fighter that's been modified into a radically different purpose.
Would other carrier-based fighters (such as the F-35B, Rafale M, J-15, Su-33, and Mig-29K), be suitable for this kind of role?

The F-35B is a definite no because it is comparatively limited range, but the others would work just fine.

Isn't the 35C the carrier version anyway?

>F-35B has higher combat radius than F-18E
>>27921213
For America yes, was talking more about for the Brits. The USN has said there's no current plans for a F-35C equivalent to the Growler, they're just making more Growlers. It's a pretty young bird after all.

The F-35B has a larger combat radius than the Growler, much less the F-35C, which has 200mi more.
You have no clue what you're talking about.
The growler will be poorly replaced by some pods hanging off an F35, so sure.
>>27921355
There are no plans for this. At all. Superbugs and Growlers will be serving alongside F-35Cs for the foreseeable future.

>ECW pods
>hanging off an F-35
pick one
>>27921355
Unlikely. Even if they make the pods themselves stealthy, you can't hide the sheer amount of emissions it'd be making, it'd massively damage it's stealth capability.
>>27921418
As opposed to a Growler which has none of that stealth anyway.
Stop making it sound like an F-35 with a single thing on a wing becomes useless.
