Where would a faggot ass /k/anadian be able to get his nugget bolt bent for a scope? Should I just learn to do it myself? Tips? Southern Ontario in case location mattered. Also, general Mosin thread.

You could buy a bent bolt body online somewhere. They run a few bucks but it's cheaper than paying for a gunsmith.

Also, how do you plan on mounting the scope without drilling and tapping? You might be better off buying an original PU sniper.
>>
>>27915025
Try an import a PU mosin from the states if you have to, mine was 600 bucks, but its probably around 750 with your monopoly money
>>
>>27915063
I have the rifle already I just want to put a pu scope on it. Is drilling and tapping really difficult/chance of fucking up the rifle high? Or is it something a book or youtube video can teach me?
>>
>>27915105
What sort of rifle is it? Keep in mind that it's only effective to mount a scope when the rifle itself is a good shooter, as well. We're definitely interested in helping you out.

91/30, it has good grouping at 25 to 50 yards without even adjusting the sights. Bought it back in august, shot it 2 weeks ago for the first time.
>>
>>27915025
Westrifle has them
Bent bolt mosins are 285
Bent bolt handles are 30

Theres a few places that sell repro mosin pu snipers with scope for cheap probably 500-600

Tfw When i have 1924 ex dragoon with matching bayonet thats a tack driver and i want to mount a Pu scope SO FUCKING BAD!
At least i can by a 1943 izzy still covered in cosmoline for 120$ but it may not be accurate enough to justify mounting a pu scope.
>>
>>27915149
25 to 50 yards isn't a good enough indicator. Try it out at 100, 200, 300 yards properly sighted. Groups should be 2 MOA or less to be worth mounting a PU scope on.
>>
>>27915173
I didnt have anything to hold the rifle to help sight it at the time, so getting good grouping at 100 wasnt the easiest task. Also, the range I go to only goes up to 100 yards.
>>
>>27915105
You can definitely learn from youtube and it'll give you some good gunsmithing\ machining experience. Just take your time and maybe screw with some scrap metal to get comfortable. Then again you've picked the perfect rifle to practice on as it's worth approximately as much as some scrap metal.

Put it out at 100 yards. Use your backpack as support.

Also, are you near Niagara? Fucking love that place, you guys are awesome. Taps Brewery has the best Belgian Wit on tap.
>>
>>27915239
I live north of toronto but go to parry sound for the range.
>>
>>27915274
Ooooh, Toronto is pretty cool too.

Yeah, seriously though, use your backpack or jacket for support and shoot supported. Aim at 100 yards, figure out point of impact, have someone spot for you with binoculars or a spotting scope, and then decide if it's worth gunsmithing. Usually they aren't and you're better off just getting a Finnish Mosin for accuracy or buying a real PU sniper.
>>
>>27915324
I was trying to rest it on some wood, but at 100yrds trying to keep aimed at the same mark is difficult because... well its 100yrds out its hard to see. My father has a spotting scope so that will help out.

Get a higher-contrast target. My first time shooting with open sights at 100 yards was cake, I mean that. Practice focusing on the front sight and switching focus between that and some target at long distance, maybe try making a "peace" sign with your non-dominant hand and using your right index finger as the "front sight post" to practice. Works for me. My eyesight has been doing worse lately due to staring at computer screens all day but I can still maintain focus.
>>
Even if you get a bent bolt, the rest of the rifle isn't going to be there.

Just break down and buy a decent PU Sniper

Here is one that's actually going for quasi-cheap:

I personally rock <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00847436S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00">this</a> on my mosin.

Works great, minimum modification, just make sure to get a scout/pistol scope with it.
>>
>>27915025
try a scout scope first OP. no gunsmithing required, no bent bolt required. it will give you a good idea of how accurate the rifle is
>>
>>27915806

Yeah you can't direct link on here

Welcome to 4chan

This. Pop off the rear sight and buy a rail that will fit a mosin. Then any scout scope will do. Then you still have an original mosin.
