What is the rage these days, what is the new favorite marketing buzzword?
>>
Platform annoys the hell out of me. Especially when it's used to describe older firearms.
>>
>>27901133
>Lightweight
>modular
>sleek

Nothing wrong with these designs in principle, but they are the new buzzwords as everything is supposed to be ultralight now

Platform doesn't annoy me.
How should I describe an ak or ar family of guns better? Or did I just describe it in a non retard way?
I think a lot of people say platform because even though it's not technically correct, it's something people can understand. It's an X at heart, just has a longer/shorter barrel, different caliber/stock etc etc etc.

Did someone say Tempo?
>>
>>27901133
>platform
that is the cancer
>>
>>27901298
What's wrong with weapon system/platform? it's meant to describe a group of weapons based on a lot of common parts that work similarly.
>>
>>27901342
But it's used so much as just a cool synonym for gun (which it's not) that is just stupid.
>>
>>27901133
>operator
What else would you call someone who trains with his weapons? A gunfighter? That sounds even worse.
>tactial
While WILDLY over used, it is 100% a legitimate term.
>>27901213
What the fuck is wrong with ANY of these? They're just describing the product.
>>27901219
What's wrong with kit? Would you prefer Equipment?
>>27901227
This. I've seen people use "platform" in a bunch of different ways, but this is always what I think of when I hear the word. For example, the M1911 is a platform, the Colt Rail Gun is a specific gun of that platform.
>>27901298
I will agree I don't see the point of "weapon system," I don't even know what operational tempo is supposed to mean.
>>
>>27901206
Platform is definitely hast that grating mallninja whiff to it, but "system" is even worse.

WHEW LAD
>>
>>27901417
Nope, don't even own a proper long arm. I train with my CCW equipment, because if I ever end up needing a gun that's what I'm going to be using.
>>
>>27901394
>What else would you call someone who trains with his weapons? A gunfighter? That sounds even worse.

Operative you inarticulate dolts.
>>
>operator

Back in the day, we simply called them soldiers.
>>
>>27901442
Operative got taken by spooks. Delta started using operator instead, then Medal of Honor made it into a meme.
>>
>>27901442
I don't see how that's really any better.
>>
>>27901443
>soldiers
But now operators are a subset of soldiers, right?

Operator goes to the front line. Not all enlisted people are operators, in this sense... or they do not operate machinery and stuff like howitzers, pointing systems, etc.
>>
>>27901459
Thats not what operators do either, you dolt. Operators tend to be SF in some way, the best gear and the riskiest missions.
>>
I'm a mallninja. I was a tactical tier 1 operator before it was cool.
>>
>>27901365
I really wish sergay wouldn't use excuse of drills to grind ass on dick.
>>
>>27901528
>not wanting sergay to use excuse of drills to grind ass on dick
I bet you kiss girls faggot.
>>
The most annoying buzzword will always be "military proven/tested."
>>
>>27901394
>What else would you call someone who trains with his weapons? A gunfighter? That sounds even worse.

>Other special operations forces use specific names for their jobs (Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, Air Force Pararescuemen); operator is the specific term for Delta's operational personnel. However, since the early 2000s other special operations forces have adopted the term.

Operator refers to SF. Normal grunts aren't operators. And practicing with a gun doesn't make you an operator.
>>
>>27901133
>"train like you fight"
>5 different patches on your mint condition kit and one on your velcro baseball cap
>that stupid snatching everyone does when shooting handguns
>>
>>27901579
What's your source on that?
>>
>>27901133
How many tactical clips can your tier one military proven lightweight high speed low drag load bearing equipment kit carry for your modular weapons platform system? Any good operator knows that less than 20 ruins your operational tempo.

What the fuck is wrong with train like you fight? That's great fucking advice.
Patches are fun, what's wrong with patches? Sure they don't make you a bad ass, but nothing wrong with them.
I don't even know what snatching thing you're talking about.

It's getting awfully "kinetic " in here.
>>
>>27901628
Not sure I understand this
What snatching?
>>
>>27901579
This.
MARSOC refers to themselves as special operators.
>>
>>27901681
I think he's referring to the thing where you pull in the handgun after shooting and check your surroundings.
>>
>>27901698

Everyone loves lingo, but there comes a time when lingo becomes "I'm one of you! Please accept me!" or "I want to believe I'm an expert!".

Learn the difference.

Also, learn when a guns column writer is using lingo just to have something to write about. Same goes with Youtube videos. The craft of shooting isn't complex, and there are those who need to make a living at talking about it out loud. Hence, the lingo.
>>
>>27901754
Fucking fantastic.

>>27901772
Well done, sir.
>>
>>27901735
I would say when it's designed to be used in a gunfight, as opposed to hunting or target shooting.
>>27901757
MOA is how they measure the precision of a gun, it's a scientific term.

They're called operators because they take part in operations. It doesn't refer to operating a gun, genius.

When I go to buy a new car, I don't ask about it's "angular momentum capability" and then use "I mean 'AMC', hehe!" and then expect the dealer to nod and accept that I'm some sort of professional driver and badass. Because that's what "MOA" sounds like to most people hearing it.

A minute of angle is 1/60th of a degree. How else else are you going to quantify the probable area your shots will land? Multiples of your penis diameter?

Nope, this is wrong, only gun owners call it that. It's a minute of arc.

I don't mind the style but why would you need that many adjectives?

"Platform" has been in use for decades.

Don't know what you kids are bitching about.
>>
>>27901619
>really nigga its like a 4 second google search step yo shit up son
I know what that is, but i've heard the phrase "The unit has high operational tempo" enough times for it to qualify as a buzzword.
>>
>>27902617
Regardless of what the "a" stands for then, how would you quantify accuracy?

This is like getting mad about you asking someones height and them replying in inches
>>
>>27903708
Precision, not accuracy.
>>
>>27903267
Really it's just a phrase the upper coc use to tell people how much life will suck for the foreseeable future. I.E. CO says increased operational tempo, expect lots of exercises and long hours
>>
>>27903717
Pardon the error, but the question remains

>>27901442
Marcus Lutrelle spoke at my college last year about his Lone Survivor experiences. He consistently used the term gunfighter to describe himself when he was in the service, his fellow seals, and even enemy combatants
>>
>RUN

Too many try hards attempt to integrate that word in order to appear experienced / knowledgeable.

>I run a PRO on my AR
>I run PMAGs
>I run white laces in my tennis shoes
>I run syrup on my pancakes
>I run Charmin across my feces covered ass

>>27901647

since when do government euphemisms become buzzwords

>>27901628
You mean that retarded transition from holding your pistol in your shooting stance to T-Rex arms?
>>
>>27901133
Tactical is the fucking worst. It has been tainted enough at this point that I am hesitant to even use it when appropriate (tactical vs strategic, not Tactical Aircraft Grade Billet Aluminum Milspec for some garbage Ching Chong $5 accessory)
>>
>>27901720

it has its use.

its use is if you're in a stack with a handgun about to go through a door. if you're not it's pointless.

but no, not position sul. low ready with a handgun after literally every shot.

>>27902487

so glad you posted this.
