I was under the impression that the Expert Infantry Badge was presented to an infantryman who has been in combat instead of a Combat Action Badge as a way to differentiate that they were/are Infantry and not a soft mos soldier.
As per your reply it would seem that I am completely wrong, but at the same time if the EIB is presented for marksmanship then do Infantry soldiers/marines not use the Marksmanship Badges?

Instead of being a faggot I checked myself. The EIB is a badge earned by being a badass infantryman and passing a whole bunch of requirements. The Combat Infantry Badge is awarded to infantryman for actually engaging in ground combat with the enemy. If the soldier has both EIB and CIB then the CIB is to be worn in accordance with Army Regulations 670-1.
