Only 500 kills
Fucking pleb tier

>Vasili Blokhin was a Soviet Major-General who served as the chief executioner of the Stalinist NKVD under the administrations of Yagoda, Yezhov and Beria (after their respective falls from power, Yagoda and Yezhov were both ironically executed by Blokhin himself)

>He is recorded as having executed at least 40,000 prisoners personally, by his own hand, including his killing of over 7,000 Polish prisoners of war in a single incident, only pausing to eat and sleep, during the Katyn massacre in spring 1940

>Blokhin initially decided on a minimum quota of at least 300 executions per night, but sometimes exceeding 700; and engineered an efficient system in which the prisoners were individually led to a small room. Blokhin would stand waiting behind the door in his executioner garb: a leather butcher's apron, leather hat, and shoulder-length leather gloves. Then, without a hearing, the reading of a sentence or any other formalities, each prisoner was brought in and restrained by guards while Blokhin shot them once in the base of the skull with a German Walther Model 2 .25 ACP pistol. He had brought an entire briefcase full of his own Walther pistols, since he did not trust the reliability of the Soviet TT-30 for the frequent, heavy use he intended.

>Each night, 25 trenches, measuring eight to ten meters long, were dug to hold the night's corpses, and each trench was covered up before dawn

>Blokhin was forcibly retired in 1953 following Stalin's death that March. After Beria's fall from power in June of the same year, Blokhin's rank was stripped from him. He reportedly sank into alcoholism, went insane, and shot himself in the head with his service pistol.

It took hundreds of years between the discovery of black powder and it's effective implementation in warfare. If the guy who discovered it is mention-able, then so is the man who discovered it could be harnessed to do more than make noise.

Weapon designers and inventors are definitely /k/, but so are then men who effectively combined these weapons with a winning strategy. To that end, Clausewitz, Tsu, Machiavelli, and Cesar Borgia are the recognized giants of this field. Implementation on a tactical level is also /k/, so people like Rommel and Guderian should also be considered.
>>
>>27898564
Murdering prisoners isn't impressive. Simo killed Russian invaders in defence of his own country on nearly even terms.

The sheer number makes it impressive. The dedication and mental fortitude required to personally shoot 40k prisoners in the base of the skull is damned noteworthy.
>>
>>27898622
I'm pretty sure he was a demented killer, considering that he fell into alcoholism immediately when he couldn't be on a Stalin death squad.

Not enough mental fortitude. I don't think the human brain is wired to deal with that kind of experience.

I think even most serial killers would find this distasteful.

Maybe he was a demented killer who executed without remorse, like stepping on a bug. Maybe he believed in what he was doing and that he was ridding enemies of communism and his country.

Either way, the personality traits required to do what he did are probably not possessed by the majority of humans. I think regime change in the USSR made him slowly fall out of favor. The possibility exists that he executed someone close to a future leader or member of the politburo, making the writing on the wall easily visible. I have my doubts as to if he really was a suicide.

Master Sergeant Roy P. BENAVIDEZ

>On the morning of 2 May 1968, a 12-man Special Forces Reconnaissance Team was inserted by helicopters in a dense jungle area west of Loc Ninh, Vietnam to gather intelligence information about confirmed large-scale enemy activity.

>This area was controlled and routinely patrolled by the North Vietnamese Army.

> After a short period of time on the ground, the team met heavy enemy resistance, and requested emergency extraction.

> Three helicopters attempted extraction, but were unable to land due to intense enemy small arms and anti-aircraft fire.

>Sergeant BENAVIDEZ was at the Forward Operating Base in Loc Ninh monitoring the operation by radio when these helicopters returned to off-load wounded crew members and to assess aircraft damage.

> Sergeant Benavidez voluntarily boarded a returning aircraft to assist in another extraction attempt.

> Realizing that all the team members were either dead or wounded and unable to move to the pickup zone, he directed the aircraft to a nearby clearing where he jumped from the hovering helicopter, and ran approximately 75 meters under withering small arms fire to the crippled team.

>Prior to even reaching the team's position he was wounded in his right leg, face, and head.

> Despite these painful injuries, he took charge, repositioning the team members and directing their fire to facilitate the landing of an extraction aircraft, and the loading of wounded and dead team members.

> He then threw smoke canisters to direct the aircraft to the team's position.

> Despite his severe wounds and under intense enemy fire, he carried and dragged half of the wounded team members to the awaiting aircraft.

> He then provided protective fire by running alongside the aircraft as it moved to pick up the remaining team members.

> As the enemy's fire intensified, he hurried to recover the body and classified documents on the dead team leader.
>>
>When he reached the leader's body, Sergeant Benavidez was severely wounded by small arms fire in the abdomen and grenade fragments in his back.

> At nearly the same moment, the aircraft pilot was fatally wounded, and his helicopter crashed.

>Although in extremely critical condition due to his multiple gunshot and shrapnel wounds, Sergeant Benavidez secured the classified documents and made his way back to the flaming wreckage, where he aided the wounded out of the overturned aircraft, and gathered the survivors into a defensive perimeter.

> Under increasing enemy automatic weapons and grenade fire, he moved around the perimeter distributing water and ammunition to his weary men, reinstilling in them a will to live and fight.

>Facing a buildup of enemy opposition with a beleaguered team, Sergeant BENAVIDEZ mustered his strength, began calling in danger close air strikes and directed the fire from supporting gunships to suppress the enemy's fire and so permit another extraction attempt.

>He was wounded again in his thigh by small arms fire while administering first aid to a wounded team member just before another extraction helicopter was able to land.

> His indomitable spirit kept him going as he began to ferry his comrades to the craft.

> On his second trip with the wounded, he was clubbed from behind by an enemy soldier. His jaw and skull were shattered.

> In the ensuing hand-to-hand combat, he sustained additional bayonet wounds to his head and arms before disarming and killing his adversary with his own bayonet.
>>
> He then continued under devastating fire to carry the wounded to the helicopter. It was later found out that in the confusion he loaded two enemy bodies into the helicopter because "I couldn't see a damn thing, I was bleeding from my eyes, and I wanted to make damn sure I didn't leave anyone behind"

>Upon reaching the aircraft, he spotted and killed two enemy soldiers who were rushing the craft from an angle that prevented the aircraft door gunner from firing upon them.

>With little strength remaining, he made one last trip to the perimeter to ensure that all classified material had been collected or destroyed, and to bring in the remaining wounded.

>Only then, in extremely serious condition from numerous wounds and loss of blood, did he allow himself to be pulled into the extraction aircraft.

>Sergeant BENAVIDEZS' gallant choice to join voluntarily his comrades who were in critical straits, to expose himself constantly to withering enemy fire, and his refusal to be stopped despite numerous severe wounds, saved the lives of at least eight men.

>He was evacuated to the base camp, examined, and thought to be dead. As he was placed in a body bag among the other dead in body bags, he was suddenly recognized by a friend who called for help. A doctor came and examined him and he too believed Benavidez was dead. The doctor was about to zipper up the bag when Benavidez managed to spit in his face, alerting the doctor that he was still alive. Benavidez had a total of 37 separate bullet, bayonet, and shrapnel wounds from the six hour fight with the enemy battalion
>>
>>27902991
also fun fact, he was in such a hurry to pick up team memebrs, when he left FOB, he didnt even bring his gun. all he had was a bowie knife, which he left in the guy he killed.
>>
____________________________________

>Prior to his attachment to the 5th SFG

>He stepped on a land mine during a patrol and was evacuated to the United States, where doctors at Fort Sam Houston concluded he would never walk again and began preparing his medical discharge papers.

>As Benavidez noted in his 1981 MOH acceptance speech, stung by the diagnosis, as well as flag burnings and media criticism of the US military presence in Vietnam he saw on TV, he began an unsanctioned nightly training ritual in an attempt to redevelop his ability to walk.

>Getting out of bed at night (against doctors orders), Benavidez would crawl using his elbows and chin to a wall near his bedside and (with the encouragement of his fellow patients, many of whom were permanently paralyzed and/or missing limbs), he would prop himself against the wall and attempt to lift himself unaided, starting by wiggling his toes, then his feet, and then eventually (after several months of excruciating practice that by his own admission often left him in tears) pushing himself up the wall with his ankles and legs.

>After over a year of hospitalization, Benavidez walked out of the hospital in July 1966, with his wife at his side, determined to return to combat in Vietnam.

>Benavidez returned to Fort Bragg and began training for the elite Army Special Forces.

>Once qualified and accepted, he became a member of the 5th Special Forces Group; and the Studies and Observations Group (SOG).

>Despite continuing pain from his wounds, he returned to South Vietnam in January 1968.

If we go by straight combatants killed pretty sure Hans- Ulrich Rudel blows everyone else out of the water.

>Rudel flew 2,530 combat missions claiming a total of 2,000 targets destroyed; including 800 vehicles, 519 tanks, 150 artillery pieces, 70 landing craft, nine aircraft, four armored trains, several bridges, a destroyer, two cruisers, and the Soviet battleship Marat.

>The only person to be awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Golden Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds.

>According to his autobiography, on one occasion

>After trying a landing to rescue two downed novice Stuka crewmen and then not being able to take off again due to the muddy conditions

>He and his three companions, while being chased for 6 km by Soviet soldiers, made their way down a steep cliff by sliding down trees, then swam 600 meters across the icy Dniester River, during which his rear gunner, Knight's Cross holder Hentschel, succumbed to the cold water and drowned.

>Several miles further towards the German lines, the three survivors were then captured by Soviets

>Rudel, knowing there was a bounty on his head, again made a run for it. Despite being barefoot and in soaking clothes, getting shot in his shoulder, and being hunted by several hundred pursuers with dog packs, he eventually managed to make his way back to his own lines.

>In total, he was wounded five times and rescued six stranded aircrew from enemy territory, although the two mentioned above were recaptured. The vast majority of his missions were spent piloting the various models of the Junkers Ju 87, though by the end of the war, he often flew the ground-attack variant of the Fw 190.

His input was also used in the developing in the A-10

Based Goddamn Roy Benevidez.

I printed his Wikipedia page and MOH award citation and keep them in my son's copy of "The Dangerous Book for Boys" as a bookmark for the battle of Thermopylae. I figure that if I kick the bucket for any reason before I get the chance to tell him my war stories, he can read up on what kind of man I expect him to be. (Not saying I compare, ideally he will hear mine and I can read him Sergeant Benevidez' and all of the others too.)

pretty much the entirety of MAC V SOG is the embodiment of /k/, among benavidez there were 12 or so other medal of honor recipients in that unit alone.
