No

If you were a dindu, who would you shoot first, the guy with the gun you can see or the guy without a gun?
And also because quite a few people who open carry are faggots.

Something like a Ruger 9E. It's a high-quality pistol for the price. Ruger keeps the price low not by cutting corners or using shit materials, but because it's a more basic version of the SR9 series they've been producing for years, so economy of scale keeps the price down. You can get them online for $350 or in stores for $375-$400.

They're 9mm, come with one 17rnd mag, striker fired, relatively light and thin for their size, have good sights, a manual safety (which is small enough to ignore if you don't like it) and they're reliable.
>>
>>27806709
Like what? Revolvers tend to be more expensive than autos. Even a used Taurus revolver in crappy condition is generally going to cost more than $200.
>>
>>27806763
Awesome, I'll make note of that. Many thanks
>>
>>27806826
You can find a lot of good used pistols in the $350-$400 range as well. Nice used Glocks and M&Ps often sell in that range.

If you don't mind .40, a metric fuckton of used .40s have started hitting the market since the FBI disowned the cartridge. Police and civilians alike seem to be trading in their .40s for 9mm pistols, resulting in super low prices. I've been seeing police tradein Glock 22s (fullsize 15rnd .40) for $300ish all over the place.
>>
>>27806305
AFAIK your options are pretty damn limited. Looked into it once because I was about to buy one but the aftermarket options are absolute shit
>>
>>27806893
Do gun stores generally sell used guns? Or would I have to check online and pawn shops for those?
>>
>>27807002
Most gun stores sell used guns, but some don't. If there's a Cabela's near you, each one has a large inventory of used guns called the "Gun Library" which would be worth checking out. Also, check local gun shows if there are any going on.

Yeah, I know. The only adapter I can find says it works with ACE and Tromix stocks. Does that mean it won't accept normal AK stocks? I find it hard to believe nobody would make an adapter that simply lets the MAK-90 take regular AK stocks.

If you're 19 like me, and want to build your own AR-15... can I buy a lower with a completed stock legally? Or am I not allowed to buy that until I'm 21.
>>
>>27807873
Because the ATF always interprets the law in the most restrictive way possible, you can't buy a lower from an FFL until you're 21 because it's considered a "firearm" and not a rifle, even with a stock.

I'd recommend buying a lower off someone privately.

1: depends on what kind. Blatantly illegal.
2: because sometimes ya gotta hide your power level. Its not about surviving a fire fight or looking tough, its about having the ability to ward off a sudden attack and run away, a scenario in which suprise is a vital element.

>didndu with knife "Ay crackuh gimme yer wallet then immah stab you"
>pull out gun he didnt know you had

Vs
>"ay, dat crackuh gots a gat, get jamal, deebo, dushawn, and t-dawg, we gonna smash his skull from behind an take it!"

plus open carry is autistic outside of innawoods or rural areas where its considered normal. "Oh im just gonna walk into chili's with an OC glock"
Quit lying its not about defense, you just want people to see you have a gun. Plus it just riles up the antis and converts more on-the-fence types that the antis are right.

Gas operated 20 gauge would help with recoil. Doubles and singles will be pretty light. 28 gauge would be ideal but they are uncommon and suitable ammo is expensive.

Could she consider other firearms? At home defense ranges, a revolver in .38 Special isn't a bad choice. Easy to use, easy to make follow up shots.

with old style stocks without a pistol grip for the trigger hand why do you see a lot of people not wrapping their thumb around the stock and leaving it flat against the hand?
Also what is the correct term for a stock that doesn't use a pistol grip?
>>
>>27811598
Just my opinion, but you're really overthinking this one.

If overpenetration is an issue, corbon makes a frangible round.

If not, even your cheapest wolf will perform.
>>
>>27813239
>The grip area is one that varies widely. A straight grip stock (A) proceeds smoothly from toe to the trigger, giving a nearly horizontal angle for the trigger hand, while a full grip stock (E) contains a separate piece for the grip, providing a near vertical angle for the trigger hand, and is commonly found on modern military rifles, such as the ubiquitous AK-47 and M16 rifle families of assault rifles. The semi-grip (B) stock is perhaps the most common sporting stock, with a steeper angle cut into the stock to provide a more diagonal angle for the trigger hand. Modern target style stocks have moved towards a fuller, more vertical grip, though built into the stock rather than made as a separate piece, and may be considered grip stocks. Anschütz stocks (C), for example, use a nearly vertical grip, and many thumbhole style stocks (D) are similar to full grips in shape.

Because it feels more natural.

My hand isn't at head-level when I'm masturbating. I typically lower my hands to masturbate, not raise them.

Reacquiring the target is hardly a big deal, because it's a shotgun. You're not aiming for pinpoint bullseye precision. You're spraying a bunch of tiny balls in a barely concentrated area.

Can someone talk me out of buying a 16ga shotgun?

There's one that's been tempting me because of the price. I know it's cheap for a reason, but I can't resist. Once again, it's a 16 gauge, not 12, 20, or even .410. 16ga ammo isn't impossible to find here, but it's slim pickins (ie. it's only slightly easier than .22LR).

Nope, not at all.

You don't just slap a scope on your gun and call it a day. You have to properly sight it in. You can't have other people do it for you, because everyone sees a little differently. Properly sighting in a scope can be a bitch to do if you don't know what you're doing.

I know people who got better at ironsights because they hated dicking around with scopes so much.
>>
>>27815904
Ok, think of the happening.

If shit happens, you will need to scavenge ammo. Good fucking luck scavenging 16 ga in a shtf situation. Also good luck stockpiling it.

It's has the worst qualities of the 12 and 20 ga. shotguns. Weaker than the 12 but heavier and more kick than the 20.

If you're poor just buy a pawn shop 12 ga. If you can't handle the kick or want cheaper ammo lurk the classifieds and gun shows for a cheap 20 ga. There's literally no advantage to buying the 16 over those 2 choices.
>>
>>27815937
Well, assuming I learned to do that properly, how much does it help the actual aiming bit? Roughly how many hours at the range would you say it takes to git gud?

Thoughts on the Ruger SR9?

I've been in the market for a 9mm pistol for quite some time, but I'm finding the price to be a little too good to be true. They're at least $200 cheaper than your usual Glocks and S&Ws, and I'm wondering why that is.

Personally they feel cheap in comparison (Lowest Common Denominator in grip feel) but reliability is just as good and shoot pretty damn well, but I'm a glockfag so yea I'm a bit bias.

I kinda of wished they remade the P80/90 series again, those are pretty decent guns.

No, not really. The heavy barrel is significantly heavier too.

The extra shell of the 590s over a 500 is a plus though. Get one of the standard barrel models with a 20" barrel.

I want a new 22lr rifle.

I have a Henry lever with shifty Simmons scope.

Kinda want either a Marlin 60 or Ruger American Rim fire.

How are irons on these?

Alternative suggestions welcome.

Marlin 60 if you like old school wood and steel. Reloading is slow and difficult though.

Well it is called a DECOCKER anon. As in it safely de-cocks the weapon. If you were dropping the hammer on an empty chamber then why would you need to "safely" decock the weapon. Unless you're one of MUH DRYFIRE fudds that is.

I bought a g19 a few months ago and am taking it to the range today to shoot it for the first time. I have never been to a gun range so im wondering whats the right way to carry it/my gear (ear plugs, eye protection, a few boxes of ammo) around. Should I just load it all into a backpack and show up at the indoor range with that?

Any tips for a first time range visit would be appreciated

I'll be going to a shooting range nearby in a couple of hours. It's my first experience shooting guns, or even holding one. I'm prepared to listen to the range safety officer instructions. But I have one question

I'm strapped for cash at the moment, my friend is paying the entry fee if I pay for the ammo. It's his 21st birthday.
I have $50 to dispose of, that isn't going to buy me shit at a range is it?

sure, as per >>27819136 today is my first time going to the range to so im not an expert or anything. I'm going with a buddy so he should be able to give me the basic etiquette tips plus i can always ask the range officer.

You might want too confirm if you are allowed to bring your own ammo to that range, if so you can usually find 9mm ammo (federal champion, winchester, pmc, perfecta) at Walmart for like $11-15 per 50 rounds or 100 round value packs for $24

According to the website for the place I'm going to, they ask that you bring unloaded firearms in a case, but I'm wondering how to carry the rest of the gear (ear plugs, eye glasses, ammo boxes, etc). Do you think bringing it in a backpack would be sketchy?

Nah doubtful. People have to carry their equipment in something. You could notify the clerk/RSO prior to bringing in the bag so nobody freaks out.

I had no idea how much ammo would run for, hence the reason I came here to find the QTDDTOT, /o/ has the same thing. I'm just going to be all ears when I walk in, since I have 0 experience. I'd rather walk out missing all targets still in one piece than vice versa.

Okay, say that you're looking at two guns. They are the exact same model, except one is blued, and the other is stainless.

What's a reasonable price difference to pay for the stainless version?
>>
>>27819943
Depends quite a bit on the gun, especially with older, collectible shit.
>>
>>27820694
Would it help if I said they were brand new, current-production firearms? Or is that still too vague?

Sorry if my question seems a little dumb, it's just that I'm deciding on a lever-action rifle, and the stainless version is $82 higher than the blued version.

It strongly depends on the job. If you think the skills are reasonably transferable, go ahead. If it actually has nothing to do with the job and you're just looking to pad out your resume, I would exercise caution.

I once wrote that I used to be an oil change technician when I was applying for a supervisor position in retail. The manager looked at me like I was crazy.

Some (namely the Five seveN) do. Most don't because you're trading velocity (or bullet size, but this is less common) for better performance at long distances. This is a fair trade off for rifles because they're going damn fast regardless, and can afford to lose some velocity for better long distance performance. Handguns aren't often designed for long distance, and don't have velocity to spare unless they have an autistically long barrel, so the practice is less common.

So a couple months ago, I got babbys first gun (technically), in the form of a Zastava M70 (pic related). Basically a 9mm license built copy of a Tokarev with a thumb safety.

There is another model, the m57a, that is pretty much identical, except it fires the 7.62 Tokarev round. Now I know both are ~$250 guns, but is it possible to swap barrels and maybe springs between the two so I can have a 7.62 m70? Or would that not work and I'd have to pick up an m57a?
>>
>>27825661
Why not buy a real Tokarev if you wanna fire 7.62x25?

Surely it would be easier/cheaper than trying to specifically buy M57 parts to fit onto an M70A.

Why are open bolts a nono on non-nfa items?
I've only heard that they are commonly used on subguns and machine guns. But so are belts which makes me believe its something mechanically but I can't imagine what.
As long as the bolt would lock open after every shot and needing a trigger reset whats wrong?
I realize an open bolt is pretty dumb for a semi auto but I don't need a good reason.

Take a look here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8063E0SWbA

This is a video of a guy shooting a Rhino 50DS (this is important, pay attention) with .38 Special rounds.

Now take a look at pic related. This is a screenshot of a Rhino spec chart from the official Chiappa website. You'll find that the Rhino comes in various different barrel sizes and calibers, like .357 Magnum, .40 S&W, and 9mm.

Now look at the very bottom of the chart. There is only one Rhino that is .38 Special only. That one is the 20DS model. Only the 20DS does .38 Special only. The 50DS comes in .357 Magnum, .40 S&W, and 9mm.

But you just saw a video of a guy shooting .38 Special rounds out of his 50DS.

Conclusion: Yes, Rhinos chambered for .357 Magnum can indeed shoot .38 Special.
>>
>>27827929
Oh I knew some could as it's in their official title, but then others were not labeled as such. I figured there might be a generational gap (maybe v1 fucked up or something), but it appears to just be poor labeling as I can find no information that Chiappa has changed the design any.
