Bought my first nugget on Monday!

What should I do with it? What slings work best? What ammo is recommended?
>>
>>27793229
The standard green sling like the one on mine is fine
I use Prvi Partizan for my nugget. It's accurate & works well but it is expensive.

>What should I do with it?
Get out and shoot it. Bring some paper towels with because you'll probably melt out some more cosmoline if you heat it up. It took me a few shooting sessions to get it to stop bleeding from the stock 100%. Also, bring a 40cal or so wire brush & mop on a rod in case you have sticky bolt. If you have problems, wire brush the crap out of the chamber, then use the mop to wipe it out. Repeat if necessary.
>sling
I really like the sling it comes with, so buy one if you have to.
>ammo
Russian factory 188 ammo is the best quality ammo IMO when it comes to surplus. Otherwise the noncorrosive LVE headstamped stuff from novobirisk(however you spell it) is pretty good too. I haven't shot much for noncorrosive, but I at least know that's some pretty good stuff.

Using duct tape on jungled mags just looks awful. It's a matter of taste I guess, but there is a reason everyone uses a matte, non-reflective tape.

It does, for a phone, IF you have good lighting. Set them outside in natural light. Indoors with open windows doesn't cut it.
But I can make my indoor pics look way better with more detail grabbed just by throwing a really bright led spotlight behind thin white shirt to disperse the light.
I don't remember if you can tone down the resolution, but try something more like 5mp and you'll still get a plenty large, but far clearer picture.

It's in 556, otherwise an rpk-74 clone. But yeah, vepr-1v rpks were available for a short time in late 2013 or 14 right before the russian import ban rumors started because of ukraine. Luckily it didn't affect veprs. They sold out and doubled in price overnight pretty much. I'd have to assume it won't be the last of them we see, but so far I haven't even heard a rumor that they'll be imported again.
There was one on gunbroker posted here last night. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=519375411
I'll be monitoring that out of curiosity. I want to know what it's worth even if I have no intention of selling mine.

SKS, AK, and Mosin.

The holy trinity.

My dad just got an SKS, my good friend has an AK.

I got to shoot a Mosin for the first time a week ago, 10/10. Felt amazing to hit a steel plate from 100 yards with just iron sights (he had a shorter carbine version with no scope)

Yeah. It would be my favorite of my AKMs if it didn't have an issue of the mag release being too tight with about half of my surplus mags.
>>
>>27795321
I like mine.

Feels well put together and haven't had any problems with it. No big furniture market for them like most AKM pattern rifles but with a dremel and some other tools you can make some fit like the Zhukov handgrips. Mine is an OPAP because I figured a thicker receiver and bulged trunnions would be better in the long run plus they're usually cheaper than the standard NPAP rifles.

ACE and Krebs custom make an adapter to fit triangle stocks, folding mechanisms, and collapsible stocks. I think Krebs makes the better of the two.

I really like the look of Rick's AK from TWD but its kind of a bastard abomination; AKM body, Type 56 front sight, plum furniture. Are there any AKs that actually have all these features or even just an AKM with plum furniture or would I have to do it all aftermarket?
>>

It actually is a Type 56. But here:

>>
>>27795514
Yeah any pistol grip is compatible. At worst you might have to get a different bolt, but that's easy to get. I'd like to get an m76 fat cap grip, but I might just settle on a polymer one from roninsgrips. They've made theirs so it fits straight onto the receiver without the metal fuller.

Strike One is great minus the shit slide finish and mediocre trigger. The slide finish rubbed off by just taking the gun out of the case! >buy from Classic because whynot.jpg
>get it
>functions pretty nicely, ejection kind of bad and inconsistent
>send it back to get fixed
>They e-mail me
>"Yeah, your old receiver was so bad and out of spec we rebuilt it on a new one"
>neat.jpg
>get it and hand-cycle some magazines
>perfect, consistent ejection
>take it out, fire a round through it
>flawless
>go to shoot another
>nothing, hammer doesn't fall
>manually rack action and try again
>nothing
>open it up, those monkeys at DDI can't even put the disconnector spring on properly
>fix it, proceed to mag dump

I have since put over 2000 rounds through that rifle without a single issue. Looking back, taking a risk on a WW AK74 was stupid, but I lucked out and got a good rifle for a good price.

>can buy everything pictured for under 1500 total in the Balkans
Topkek for people that don't live there and spend insane amounts on this shit
>>
>>27800823
1500 what? USD?
Because 1500 USD turns into a lot more when converted to balkan bills.

It was $500 with a warranty. I took that risk too and am pretty glad I did.
>>
>>27800851
1500 USD is is like 2500 marks, but you don't need to convert it, either way that's nothing for some rifles and explosives
>>
>>27800817
i was just about to buy from WW before they went under. im glad i didnt.
>>
>>27800823
Export that shit
>>
>>27800869
We will need it for another war, but there is a lot sold on the black market, the Charlie hebdo shooting rifles were reportedly from the Balkans , grenades are bought in bulk packs for cheaper than I can get a tank of gas in the USA
>>
Going to a fun show next weekend to hopefully get an SKS as my second gun.
>>
>>27800852
You got some nice wood. I did as well. Some people got really beat of furniture.

>>27800865
I bought from Classic, who was selling a large stock of WW AK-74s for $500 with a 1-year full warranty. The idea was there was a chance you'd get a good rifle, but if you didn't, you could send your lemon in to get fixed. It was a good idea in theory, but I've read of people who have sent their rifle in three times and it still isn't functioning properly.
>>
>>27800763
Good looking out! Appreciate the help.
>>
>>27800939
I regret not getting one so much. A local fun store has an SLR104 for $1200 but they said they can't budge on the price and I dunno if I wanna pay that much
>>
>>27801397
I have an slr107, its worth every penny when you see ARfags at the range and you group better than them without an optic
>>
>>27801405
This, but I have a 104

It's especially great when they get visibly buttflustered that their extreme tacticool AR with optics and lasers rails everywhere and those gay foregrip/bipod combo things get outshot by not only an AK but an AK with purple furniture.

And then they still have to tell me that my rifle is inaccurate and couldn't hit the inside of a barn.
>>
>>27801696
>I also have plum
It really does piss people off, didn't think a color is so triggering
>>
>>27801720
I know, it's great.

It's also funny when they look shocked when you dump a bottle of water down the bore and gas tube after shooting 7n6 like you're gonna break it haha
>>
>>27801761
There is a creek next to the range I go to, literally just throw it in there and it's gtg, but I don't normally shoot corrosive through it
>>
>>27801405
This is OP btw. I'm happy with my Maadi & Saiga so I'm really looking into a 5.45 gun. But as I said before, I do wanna turn my Saiga into a side folder
>>
>>27801696
I cannot fucking stand rails lmao butI feel you. Last timeI went to the range there was a guy with an AR and some sort of mall ninja handgun who wasn't hitting shit (I wasn't either bc my AK isn't sighted in yet but I've done great with Slav guns compared to his shooting before)
>>
You guys sure hate on ARs, and I can't fathom why. I hang out in /arg/ a lot, and can't even recall the last time somebody started hating on AKs, let alone mentioned one. They don't even think about you guys over there, yet it seems like the folks in /akg/ and slavshit threads in general take any opportunity that shows up to express how much they hate ARs and how much better their AK is.

It's like you guys have some sort of inferiority complex.
>>
>>27803432
I love the AR desu. I just prefer AKs. I'll be getting an LE6920 or a Palmetto soon. No hate, just preference
>>
>>27803432
>You guys sure hate on ARs
>one casual mention of an AR
>two mentions of people shooting their slavshit better than some unskilled arfags
Nobody's hating on ARs here.
>>27803432
>yet it seems like the folks in /akg/ and slavshit threads in general take any opportunity that shows up to express how much they hate ARs and how much better their AK is.
Slav owner have just always gotten supreme pleasure showing up with their cheaper rifles and outshooting people who've put like 2000 bucks into a gun/accessories, but never actually learned how to shoot.
It's less about the gun, it's more about the person behind it.

I like both and actually prefer my AR in a lot of ways.
>>
>>27803901
>one casual mention of an AR
>turns it several anons circle jerking about how they love feeling superior to AR fags
>not even the dude with the $1700 Tavor or $1200 Mini 14, it's always AR fags
It happens every time.

>cheaper rifles
AKs haven't been cheaper than AR for a couple years. You can build a decent AR for $400, and by build I mean buy an assembled upper and lower from PSA. I paid more than double for my basic AK than I did on my budget AR. Most people you see at the range don't have <$1000 ARs.

>It's less about the gun, it's more about the person behind it
I agree with this sentiment 100%.
>>
>>27803432
I love both my AK and my AR, I just hate those people who spend all of their money on airshit-tier accessories and then put maybe 100 rounds through their rifle every year and think they're operator and scoff around like they're hot shit and complain that my AK is shitty when I'm obviously outshooting them.

If anything and I had to pick one over the other in a real life survival situation I'd pick my AR even though I prefer my AKs. I'm >>27801696 and >>27801761 btw.
>>
>>27800862
Good thing none of the big three Balkan countries use German currency, another good thing is you don't really know what you are talking about. A full auto M53 would be pretty close to that price alone. Shit on the BM isn't as cheap as you'd think, and most of the abandoned storehouses full of military equipment have long been looted or sold.

I said big three, German mark was the first thing to pop into mind, forgot about little old Bosnia. Euro's are going to be the most accepted currency.

Serbs use the Dinar, Macedonians use the Denar, and Croats use the Kuna.

Slovenia, Montenegro, and Kosovo are the only former Yugo territories who use the Euro.
>>
>>27805363
Do you realize what the black market is? Also Slovenia, Montenegro and Kosovo aren't the only countries in the Balkans, and you're mentioning of former Yugo territories has absolutely no relevance to purchasing weapons off the black market with Euros.

Just wondering how common it was for M38's in Czech Republic to have actual m38 stocks, key difference is the little cutout for the bayonet that the m38's will not have in the stock. A lot of m38's were sent out to Bulgaria, Romania, or East Germany, mine happens to have Bulgarian arsenal marks on it.

Pic related.

>>27805976
Have the specific links to the rifles on Atlantic?

Just checked, yeah, apparently the stock is for M44.
Goes nicely with the AVT stocked SVT, I guess.

Can you tell me what each of these is, all very nice, all I can ID is the M70 with wood kit on the bottom and its very nice

Top is a converted 5.45 saiga. Next is a polish beryl archer. Third is a WW/DDI AK74 and last is an M70b1 as you already noticed.

WASRs are fine now. The quality issues were mainly before 2008. What do you mean by proprietary stock? It uses the same stock as any other AKM.

I'd go with the East german one at that price, parts kits are hard to come by, and you don't have to assemble your own rifle. Hurry though, I doubt they'll last long.
