I'm looking to get a rifle to keep in my car just in case SHTF on my way home from work. Assuming this kind of gun should be as light and simple as possible what does /k/ recommend

AK pistol with sig brace. I have a zastava pistol with a sig brace I use as my truck gun. With red dot and everything it only cost me 650. It's super reliable. Easy to operate. And it's accurate to at least 100 yards with the red dot sighted at 50

Right side of the pic. AR or AK. Keep it in a lock box and bolted to your vehicle to prevent theft. Also, know your state laws as well as your neighboring state laws just incase you get pulled over. Finally get a CCW Permit that has reciprocity in yours and your neighboring states.

Personally
>AK with 5 mags and a pistol (Sig Sauer P228) with 3 mags.

Key factor though, you do not want to look like you have shit. That AK, if someone has a team or balls to take you on, is a valuable asset to have. I'd keep it at the pistol level and a 3-5 day survival pack.

CCW a 13+ round pistol. Keep a spare loaded mag in your car, two if you feel things are going to get bad. Congrats, you're ready to get home if SHTF while you're away.

Fuck you faggot. It's none of your business why someone wants a gun. If anything, YOU'RE what degrades the gun community, because you're being bitchy and choosy over what is a proper "reason" to have a gun.

Anyone who wants a gun for a lawful purpose is a good member of the community.
>>
>>27791195
It was a reference to the Glocknade meme which implies a high chance of destructive failure. Much like the Gen 1 Glock 22 40cal, early SU16 design flaws led to incidents where the exploded. These were corrected later.

I know it is made by Kel-Tec, I have one and it's on the receiver.

>>
I keep a rifle in my car, not for rampaging niggers but because coyotes are a problem on my farm (they've effectively killed off all the quail, pheasant, and foxes, and are currently working on driving skunks extinct).

To that end, I've got a Mossberg MVP Varmint that I've converted to a toolless switchbarrel (IE, I can gorilla-mitt the double barrel nut tight enough for MOA accuracy without fucking up the headspace, and the barrel's removable so the whole thing's only 22" long).

I keep both a .300blk 16" barrel, and a .204 Ruger 22" barrel for it in my truck. I drive a TRD Tacoma and it's got storage behind the back seat, where I was able to bolt a lockable mounting bracket that holds the stock and both barrels vertically while still allowing the seat to sit right.

I imagine someone could do similarly with an AR (just take the upper off) or a folding-stock AK.
>>
>>27791908

I have a small pistol and IWB holster in my glove box for a few reasons

>in case I have the occasion to go to a rough neighborhood and feel like carrying it
>if I see a wounded animal that's been hit by a car and want to humanely let it die (have done this a few times to horrifically-wounded deer)
>if I'm sitting in a parking lot eating some fast food (like on a road trip) and some dindu comes up and tries to mug/carjack me (this has happened)
>if someone roadrages out and follows me home because I accidentally cut them off (this has also happened)

I just happen to be the guy that statistically improbable shit happens to all the time. I've been mugged three times, twice at gunpoint. Had my house broken into. Had crazies follow me home off the highway and try to start a fight. Had a guy hit and run my car, and then when I followed him while calling the cops he pulled over and started getting aggressive.

I don't even live in a shitty town/part of town, I dunno why this stuff happens to me all the time but it does and that's why I have a gun in my car. Everyone's circumstances are different, my man.
>>
>>27792010
Obviously. A pistol is the logical choice.

I'm talking about rolling around with real fuckin NATO rifles and thinking that is logical and sane behavior.

Because thieves need probable cause to break into a vehicle, when they now know that every idiot with a half-ton pickup keeps at least one rifle/shotgun inside.

GG bruh.

Yeah, luckily I live in Georgia.

Every time shit like that goes down I thank my lucky stars (what few of them there are) that I don't live in some shit hole state or, worse, Europe, where my only recourse would be to drop my pants, spread my ass cheeks for my assailant, and hope they spit first
>>
>>27792139
Welp it sure is a good thing we live in America, where the only reason one needs to carry a rifle around with them in their car is "because I feel like it, faggot".

Also, has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, people don't leave the rifle in the car at all times, and take it back inside with them when they get home? Crazy novel concept to wrap your head around, I know

Get home from what, work? Where it will sit under the back seat for 8 hours with nobody keeping an eye on it?

That is a novel concept, my head is thoroughly wrapped around it now anon. You sure know what you're doing.
>>
>>27792203

Yeah, where it will sit under the seat while you're at work.

Here's another novel and brain - melting idea: if you work somewhere that your employer doesn't provide for the security of your car and its contents while you're there, you might want to get a better job.

Or, if you work out in the middle of nowhere where on site security is not feasible, congratulations you're fine unless a raccoon manages to jimmy your locks and figure out how to operate your rifle, because there's nobody else around to steal it.
>>
>>27792139
Yeah, good luck getting my rifle out of its locked bracket without a pneumatic angle-grinder.

Sorry to break your little fantasy, but contrary to your belief there really aren't that many literal retards with guns AND vehicles.

The heights of naivety here are astounding.
>>
>>27792252
They can steal the vehicle, sure.

But they will need chop-shop tier power tools to remove the rifle from the vehicle without rendering it permanently incapable of firing.

How is that any worse than keeping them in your house in a gun safe? They're not 100% guaranteed to never be stolen in a safe, even in a top-of-the-line one.

You also failed to address how you seem A-OK with people leaving pistols in obvious, unlocked locations in a vehicle, but not locked up rifles.

I repeat, you're a special kind, aren't you?

You can CC a pistol and bring it with you, and not leave it in the car like a literal retard.

Rifle owners who don't use the bare minimum locking devices are asking to have their shit stolen, end of story.

>chop shop tier tools

Harbor Freight exists in every poor part of every city in America, good luck defeating those red-hot bargains on torches, cutters, and pneumatic tools.

Gonna be the redman here.
>what if the vehicle is dead (out of gas, EMP, flat tires, wrecked, etc)?

>what if you're being engaged by a vehicle/people with rifles/etc where going 60mph doesn't mean you won't get hit repeatedly?

There are usage cases for both pistols and rifles.
>>
>>27792361
Good luck using a torch or die grinder on literally any vehicle mount without chewing the shit out of the gun badly enough it either won't fire or would be extremely unsafe to fire.

That $100 angle grinder will need a $100 air hose, a $500 air filter/dryer/oil catch, an $800+ >15gal compressor, a 3-phase power source (not really found in pretty much any house, it's pure industrial wiring) and more than 30 square feet of concrete slab to place it all on.

Did you seriously think they made angle grinders capable of cutting anything other than soft aluminum that ran on fucking DeWalt 18v battery packs or something?
>>
>>27792522
That's just to cut the bracket some time this week.

To get into the vehicle without completely destroying it will be another couple grand worth of tools OR a decade plus of experience and a couple hundred in tools.

Your average car thief smashes a window on a car he -knows- the keys are in, and drives off. The ones that are actually capable of hotwiring a vehicle made after 1999 won't even fucking care if there's a gun in it, they want the high-end SUV's and sports cars because they're worth orders of magnitude more than what the cars contain.
