Whatever happened to Remington's quality? Old timers talk about how great they were decades ago, but my 700 caused so many problems I ended up selling it.

*cough*

Their .22lr ammo is also terrible.

Kind of like Gerber and Craftsman, they got a good brand name then cheapened everything up for shorter-term profits, counting on their reputation to only slowly go into the mud and people to still buy their products thinking they were the same quality of old.

Well, to be fair, gold brick has sucked for decades. And, the 700's problems have been lifelong. But, 870's used to be the best you could get, and now they're below fucking Stevens.

>Whatever happened to Remington's quality?
people who blame cerberus are only partially right. the main reason is that consumers don't want to spend money. china spoiled us and we expect everything to be cheap. the main reason for literally all US products' quality going to shit, blame yourself and of course poor people who want to be able to buy the same things as rich people. fuck poor people.

Of those, at least Marlin is still seen as quality stuff, no?

A hope someone takes all your money so when you sitting on a park bench I can print out this post, and shove it down your throat.

Oh god no.
Maybe they've improved, but last I checked you could pick up any Marlin and immediately see QC issues

Remington's standards started falling long before they were acquired and made part of the Freedom Group.

>>27788457
Marlin was never a quality brand, they're a cheap brand.
>>
>>27788457
Nope, their lever guns were the only good thing they did and now they're shit.

Is golden saber BJHP any good?
>>
>>27789133
Depends. I do believe 9mm 124gr+P Golden Sabres are on the "good defensive ammo" list, but that said they aren't at the top of it (that would typically be Federal HSTs in 124gr+P and 147gr, or Winchester Rangers in I forget which grain/pressure).
>>
>>27788383

I have a newer Marlin XS7C and it's a fine bolt gun for shooting animals, imo.

Hasn't given me any problems.

they seem alright, especially for the price.

I don't need the best of the best, just cheap carry ammo that works well. Like everyone else in the thread I'm wary about Remington, bought an 870 in 2010 and it was a total POS.
>>
>>27789189
Well, it's what I've been carrying until I find some of the HST/Ranger I mentioned. Good value.

Obviously anything you get, run 50+ rounds of it through your gun first. I bought some Speer Gold Dots at the same time I got the Golden Sabres... 2 fail to feeds within 27 rounds, and I was careful not to be limpwristing. My gun just did not like it. Golden Sabres worked fine.

Interesting. I need a good HP in 9 and .38

Yes. Ammo is gud. Not Federal gud but better than most older designs like PMC starfire or Winchester white box, and waayyy better than any FMJ.

>Cerberus capital management

It is almost as if everything goes to shit if some entity very interested in squeezing out profits takes over the company.

Funny how mossberg and others offer shotguns at the same price but of much higher quality.
>>
>>27789906
To be fair, the last Mossberg I got felt pretty rough. A pain in the ass to pump the slide and the safety is stiff too. It hasn't really loosened up with use, sadly enough.
>>
>>27789906
In the race to the bottom, Mossberg stood still while Remington dashed past.
