Let's stop for a minute and fucking think here before jumping onto buying garbage you and I both know is shit.

It may be less than $50 right? And when it does eventually fuck up and break, that's money wasted there, and it doesn't stop there. You're going to be constantly trying to fix it when the zero starts to wander around.

Everyone on these threads and better yet, everyone on fucking /k/ needs to stop making purchases soley on instant gratification. primary arms makes a good fucking optic with a good warranty for $160. Slap an rs mount on your gun and you have a really damn good setup for only ~330 bucks.

Or you can just be the retard that never learned to save his money for good quality shit and only wants EVERYTHING NOW NOW NOW NOW and wonder why he's poor

Just bought an awesome polish kit build from DA, and it's 100x nicer than my shitty Arsenal it replaced.

The problem is my eyes are shit. Really, really shit; so I'd like to put some type of magnified optic on it. Ideally it should be under $500 including the mount (and rings, if applicable). Something like a 1-4x or fixed 3x/4x would be ideal, it just needs to be really fucking rugged (and the screws shouldn't back out under recoil and need to be loctited).
>>
While we are on the subject, does anyone recommend the POSP line of optics or is the PSO a much better buy? I want to get a 4x for my AK, but I've heard reviews all over the place on POSP's. I looked into the WPA ones and they are Chinese, so I'm just gonna avoid them. Plus, they are more expensive.

Then don't fold the stock. Literally the only time I fold my stock is when I have too little range bags and I need to make the rifle fit in something smaller. Other than that the stock is open 95% of the time.

>>
>>27792934

because its a rifle designed to be mass produced. shitty tolerances and less attention paid to manufacturing comes with the territory.

unfortunately that mindset hasnt been changed when producing for consumers in smaller numbers. they just take less time spent making the weapon to increase profits.

It's just the nature of the beast. Buy in person or roll the dice.

>>27794727
SLR-104 is pretty much it. There isn't the same diversity of affordable 5.45 AKs as there is with 7.62x39.

Your best option for 5.45 is the SLR104. If you don't mind paying out the ass the SGL31 is great too. If you can find one for cheap and don't mind converting it 5.45 Saigas are also fantastic. VEPRs are also great if you don't mind the furniture or if you want to spend time and money swapping the furniture.

7.62x39 AKs have the easy answer: Buy a WASR. 5.45 AKs don't have it that way.

Arsenals are bottom-tier. They aren't the best anything for the money. Talk to Atlantic. Talk to Classic. Talk to Prepper. They'll all say that Arsenal QC is extremely poor and to expect moderate to severe cant on the gas block and sights. Hell, Arsenal is so shit that Prepper isn't even placing orders for them from K-VAR anymore because they have such a high defect rate.

It's disappointing as fuck to see once legendary brands go to shit. At least you've got custom shops churning out god-tier AKs, and DDI has the affordable mid-range covered, so it's not like we don't have great options.
>>
What do I buy if I want a nice 104 if Arsenal is out? I can't build that shit
>>
>>27795766
I would personally get a 5.56 VEPR conversion from Krebs or Definitive, since buying 5.45 at this point is retarded; but if you insist on 5.45, Rifle Dynamics has some absolutely top-tier builds.
>>
Just got an Arsenal SLR104. Its pretty nice and real "clean", unlike my Century AK's which have some blemishes and nicks and whatnot from the surplus parts. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Still have to shoot it, though.

One thing I have noticed also, and I'm actually not sure how I feel about it, though, is the toightness. My mags have 0 wobble, but not all of them fit. I have a few Russian surplus and some Fapco shit that won't even lock in. Any ideas on what I should do? It seems like the front notch needs to be a little deeper, but I've always just filed down the back tab in the past for my steel 7.62 mags. I've also filed down the catch on my WASR (and it works perfect now), but I'm a bit reluctant to do that here.

To add to that, I really don't feel like paying 50+ dollars for new Bulgy mags. Is there anything decent and more cost effective out there?

I don't see whats wrong with like a 1mm cant. It doesn't affect operation and really unless you really were looking for it, you probably wouldn't notice. Now, I've seen some Century AK's and even an SKS that had a front sight canted so bad it really did fuck up the sight picture (which still wasn't enough to compensate for the cant).

Prepper Gun Shop has a better return policy. Purchased an SLR107-34 that came with 5 extra pmags, and had emailed them asking them to make sure it wasn't canted before sending it out. Turns out it was canted, so they told me they called up K-VAR and asked them to send one directly to my FFL after ensuring it wasn't canted.

Problem is, K-VAR didn't check, and sent me a really fucked up rifle. I had accepted it because I didn't notice how bad the gas block was canted at the time (bolt would actually get stuck out of battery from the piston catching on the gas tube). Prepper offered to help me contact K-VAR since I had accepted the transfer, and K-VAR basically told me to go fuck myself. Prepper then authorized a return and let me keep the 5 pmags for my trouble.

>>27796052
Fun fact, Arsenal's military production line produces flawless rifles with zero gas block cant, and zero to extremely minor FSB cant. That's the real "mil spec".

Their civilian production line is a joke.

The first you'll have to convert if you want a correct rifle but it'll be closer to compliant if you live in a communist state. The vast majority of them are. While any company can have lemons, Century certainly isn't anywhere near as bad as they were pre-2008. WASRs are actually a pretty solid choice.

Have you considered the fact that the vast majority of people don't go on the internet and talk about the problems that their products don't have? You see a thread talking about problems and the few dozen people is enough to justify your confirmation bias that everyone has a problem rather than just a small percentage of the total consumer base.

Enjoy your review of a cherry-picked gun.

Go fucking ask any of the big online dealers yourself about the quality of current WASRs. The honest ones will tell you up front to expect canted gas blocks, front sight blocks to the point that the FSP must be all the way to the left or right, wobbly mag wells, guns filled with metal shavings (in the barrel, in the gas tube, all in the action, under the furniture) from the mag-well opening, extremely rough rails, and the channels in the carrier looks like it was milled with a dremel.

Better yet, go to your LGS and fingerfuck their WASRs. If you know what you're looking for, you're going to find something wrong with all of them.
>>
>>27797921

My WW AK-74 keeps jamming up. Its like the mags arent seating right and when the bolt slides forward it digs into the next round in the mag, or sometimes it picks up the next round and STILL digs.. hasn't done this before.

Just got back from the range a day ago ill clean it and see if that helps it cycle. But if not wut do? If anyone is interested I'll post pics of the problem.

I'd wait till the DDI comes out. While folders are a nice option to have, chances are you are going to leave it unfolded all the time anyhow. I'd go with the poly stock if you are never going to fold it, triangle if you want to use the folding option more.

also check for cant like you would with a WASR with Arsenals now. Their QC has gone to shit.

They will be build on Classic Arms bulgy build kits using DDI green mountain barrels and nitride finish. I would expect similar finish to their 7.62 offerings and decent accuracy.

>>
>>27797397
ahhhh..... I remember that abomination and the fuckin hour it took to get it on the gun....

easiest thing is take the two screws off the stock side, and then take the metal loop(if its not welded together) and thread it thru the sling where it needs to go.

otherwise, you have to turn that rectangle piece of metal sideways to fit thru the other one, and it will stress you the fuck out. at least getting it back in is easier than taking it apart.

I dont recall what those slings were called, or why they were used, but they did have some purpose besides a regular 2 point sling.

Oh my thanks for the help! Yea this thing is a bastard and I'm at the point where I'm just gonna give up for a while. There's just no wiggle room with it and I can't get it to unthread for the life of me. Wow, what a fucking piece of disaster equipment.

Hey, I want to buy myself AK, since I am from post-soviet country. Is Beryl any good? How does it stack up against other AKs?

The Beryl Archer (imported by I.O) seems to be great, grab one if you can find it.

I don't own one so I can't contribute anything about their reliability, but from what I've heard all I.O. did was import it, so hopefully that means they didn't fuck the rifle with cast parts or shit barrels.

Magazines will be rather expensive and hard to find, you'll also have to figure out which ones fit (not all 5.56 mags are compatible with certain 5.56 AKs IIRC).

All of the above is why most people recommend you buy a WASR or something else slightly more minimal for a first AK.
