i just found out this is a thing. i'm considering buying one, but i want to know if it's shit or not. has anyone fucked around with one? is it worth it?

They're fine mechanically. Finish isn't the best but it's not bad. Lots of fun to slamfire.
So long as you don't overpay for one I highly recommend them, along with their 1887 lever shotgun clone.

I only shot the issue one once in order to qualify for Division guard. It hit everything I aimed at and had zero malfunctions in 24 00 buck rounds.
It was a rattle bucket, however. Probably due to its age and extensive usage.

I have one. Lots of fun to play with.
Problems I've had:
>heat shield didn't fit properly. Had a gunsmith mill the collar down slightly. Fixed.
>bayonet comes loose and falls off when it's fired.
Other than that, it's a joy.
