What is the best ar-15 configuration?
14.5 carbine? 14.5 middy? 16 middy?
What's the most reliable config?

20" Rifle Length

16" Mid Length or 18" Rifle

16" mid length gas

18" SPR master race.

I'll second that...18" rifle master race.

Exposed gasblocks truly the best aesthetic.

I agree, some dingus on m4carbine tried to tell me I needed a longer rail to cover it up, he couldn't come up with a valid reason other than he didn't like the way it looked.

Rifle or mid length gas? I went rifle -- the ghost of Gene Stoner told me to. What do you guys run?

if it's good enough for the Mk12 it's good enough for me.
Another angle...

If you have an 18" barrel with anything but rifle or intermediate length gas it's an abomination.

Rifle, 18" rifle length gas is the best all around AR configuration in my opinion. Rifle in pic is an FN CHF A2 profile barrel, VG6 Epsilon muzzle device, VLTOR A5 buffer system with H2 buffer, standard M-16 BCG. It's the softest shooting AR I've ever shot.

Forgot pic..
Rifle length best length.

>First day out with my PA 1-6 ACSS
>'put' the rifle on the ground while setting steel back up (I suck with slings and they feel like they're constantly trying to strangle me)
>long shallow gouge on the side
Oh well. I guess it's just cosmetic.

The first scratch is always the hardest to live with. It's out of the way now though, you're free to just use it.
Rifle length is as God (aka the 420 master himself) intended.
18" is sort of like sucking dick, but insisting that you're straight because you're only attracted to the cock. Either way, it is still frowned upon in the Lord's eyes.
16" or lower is full on sodomy and is punishable by being branded a pleb forever.

When the guys at Crane NSW were developing the MK-12 the found that 18" barrels delivered the overall best accuracy, with only a very minor loss in velocity to the 20" barrels. I think St. Stoner himself would approve.
