War is often a frightening thing, despite how much patriotic fervor you may claim to carry.

It has come to my attention that the most frightening things about war might not explicitly be the enemy, but rather their equipment that is used against you.

Can anyone tell me what would be the most intimidating thing to fight against?

>Hajjis v.s. the BRRRT
>Americans v.s. Mitsubishi ZEROs
>Americans v.s. Tiger tanks
>Vietnamese v.s. Napalm
>etc

You get the idea.

Honestly, in our modern times when so many wars are fought by a superior military force on one side and a bunch of ragtag untrained rebels on the other, the scariest would be to simply come across a group of well-trained infantry that know what they're doing. It's easy to fuck up the enemy when they don't know what they're doing and you have all kinds of air and ground support to back you up, but as soon as the playing field gets leveled at all, it turns from a turkey shoot to a real kill-or-be-killed situation.

The worst thing isn't the enemy shooting back at you, it's the enemy returning accurate fire that zips inches over your head despite your own attempts at suppressing fire.

That must feel like hell, like , you go hunting and spot a deer in the bushes, you aim and take your shot, only to see that deer was wearing plates and starts to shoot back at you

>Gas

Whatever fucking gas they use on our asses when training just fucking sucks.

It burns your eye sockets and it feels like your brain is coming thru your fucking nose. Plus you can't fucking breathe without feeling like you are being stabbed by 9 inch pin needles in your fucking lungs. It makes being shot at a cake walk

Swedes had contracts that said they wont have to fight winged hussars in open field.

It wasn't the Tiger that Americans feared explicitly. It was the high velocity 75 - 88 mm guns the Germans strapped onto anything that moved and was in their possession.

Does this mean soldiers of today are less psychologically prepared for parallel warfare than previous generations?

In the second world war, the allies had to train their troops to deal with the fact that the Germans and Japanese were very much war hardened years ahead of them and ready to fight and die to the death. In so much that in even numbers of troops facing each other, more often than not Germans would win those engagements.
