So my question is this, I'm thinking of joining the military, and to be clear, I am not a pacifist. I am not against killing people under the right circumstances. It is my duty as a Christian to rid the world of evil. If you read the bible it is literally packed from cover to cover with hardcore men of war who fought, and died, for what they believed in. I am debating on if I should join as 11X or 03xx, or apply for a Chaplain position. I cannot seem to find much information on Chaplains in modern military service. I know they exist, but what do they do? I dont want to be locked in some administration building baptizing recruits newborn babies in a sink. If I am in that position I would like to be in the shit with the men on the frontline, and again, I am not opposed to picking up a weapon. Is there suck a thing as a "combat Chaplain" or something of that nature?

Chaplains dont pick up weapons. And they exist as mental/spiritual health specialists and religious experts. Your job will be to care for the morale and welfare of any soldier that comes to you for aid regardless of denomination and to support spiritual health of the unit for all religions. And run your own specific service too.

Chaplain's usually aren't supposed to be armed. They're considered non-combatants. Although there are times in history where chaplains took up arms, I wouldn't count on you being one of these. That being said they do have chaplains in the field. To what extent however, I cannot say.
Also keep in mind that you have to see to the "spiritual needs" of all soldiers, regardless if they're christian or not. I don't think you'd have a problem with that, but all the same I mention it.
Also, the soldiers I know kept their distance from their Chaplain so don't expect too much from them if you decide to join up.

You MUST go chaplain if you can.
Chaplains are AUTOMATICALLY officers, not enlisted.
You don't have to OCS, ROTC, and whatever else one has to do to be an officer traditionally.
However, you are not "officially" a combat role as a chaplain, but you can be at the front right in the battles if you really request it; you can make an excuse by saying that you want to see your brethren in battle, want to give last rites to dying soldiers during battle, etc.
