Bought a 1948 K-31 from Simpsons ltd with a 7.55 bore. The Sales men advised me against picking out the rifle based on bore size and rather based on over appearance. This will be my first rifle other than my old Remington targetmaster .22 . So should I be worried and believe all this talk about anything past 7.53 as over priced shoot out shit or relax and wait for my Swiss steel?

how much did you get it for?
>>24886577
350 and I'm mildly starting to think I spent to much, but local option were near zip and the few that I found on TexasGuntrader wanted a bit more than that

thats a decent price for it. Its a fantastic rifle. It is a little expensive to feed at about .50c a round but its nothing to what that guy was saying.
Enjoy your rifle

Did I buy a over priced turd based on bore size? And if I should believe all the talk on rifles with a larger bore than 7.53 being "shoot out" or not being as accurate. Sorry about the poor to no syntax

>all this talk about anything past 7.53 as over priced shoot out shit or relax and wait for my Swiss steel?
That's horse shit.
7.5x55 ammo is actually 7.77mm wide, so it'll still have to get squeezed through the bore and it'll be nice and accurate.
Relax and await your glorious Swiss steel.

That's a weight off my chest, Now to order some GP11 and hope the cold front end soon. Any advice or suggestions on a cleaning kit?
>>24886810
Not really.
One piece cleaning rods are nice because there are no seams to possibly scratch up your bore, but they're a tad expensive.
I'd say just go to a gun store and pick up an average cleaning kit, and add in a one piece rod if you think you need it.
I use a three piece and it works just find for me.
Oh, your barrel with be FULL of glorious swiss grease when you get your rifle. So run a patch through to push all that grease into a trash can. Then repeat with clean patches a few more times, then clean with solvent, then run a patch with a bit of oil on it.
Congrats.

I just bought a walnut stock one from AIM Surplus with the hand pick option. I'll make a thread and post pictures on how the experience went and if the hand pick was worth it. Btw the price seems right OP, is it beech or walnut?
>>24886857
>>24886935
Alrighty and .308 brush as well?
>>24886973
Beech mainly do to the fact I liked the lighter color and Please do
>>24886992
no, just soak a jag in bore shine push and pull it through several times until it a new patch is no longer green then store muzzle down.
>>24886735
The term is shot-out
Have fun with it, OP.
I just bought 960 rounds of ammo for mine. It's a little expensive to shoot, but not terrible. I'd hang onto your brass too.
I got one for Christmas several yeas ago
that thing is my baby, I love it
it's so accuracte, so powerful, so cool, and utterly reliable
Check under the buttplate, some have the tags of who they were issued to.

Simpsons is usually a tad over priced but the quality of their arms is almost always great, which is what you pay for (usually, they still want $2000 for a fucking MSAR).
>>24886550
Get one OP. Great rifles.
