Wire wrap and a metal bolt. wire wrap is soldered on.

Brits had to reinforce the stocks so they wouldnt split from the recoil of firing rifle grenades

>>
>>23052243
it was done by india to reinforce the rifle to launch grenades, those rifles are usually pretty rusty underneath the stock, as the wrapping is not usually removed

you find a surplus grenade rifle lol.

The british started doing that in WW1, but ive only seen those rifles in pictures. WW2 was when they stopped. Ishapore in India keep making them for a few years after their independence. you can find them but you have to hunt. i got lucky and it was my first gun.

Is it stuck on there or something, even when you press down on the two retaining springs? Perhaps try spraying some lube on the part of the stock in front of the band, and try to get some under there as well if you can.

Also, another new acquisition of mine (in addition to the Mukden/Hoten Type 38 carbine in >>23054957)
>>
>>23055162
I'm just having a lot of resistance pushing it up, also I'm not sure how I'm getting it past the bayonet lug.

I just don't want to scratch up the wood or get it stuck.
>>
>>23055220
Can you at least push the rear band over the retaining springs? You shouldn't need to worry too much about ruining the wood's finish if you can at least do that. Also, you do need to take off the front barrel band first in order to take the rear one entirely off the rifle. Do you know how to take the front one off? There's a flat spring under the stock behind the band that you have to push down to take it off.

Just sold my 3 spam cans of 7.62x54r and my 91/30 and then turned around and ordered a K-31 and 240 rounds of GP-11. Did I do good?

Fun fact: In 1932, the K-31 cost around 151 Swiss Francs. The ratio between Swiss Francs to US Dollar since then has remained at a steady 0.95 to 1.05 franc to dollar. In today's money, if a K-31 were made today, it would cost over $2,600 to produce.

Yeah, I'm kind of excited. Can't wait for that fucker to get here.
>>
>>23055927
Maybe he will kill himself.
>>
>>23055953
Also, by comparison, a nugget made in 1914 by Remington would cost around $480 to make today, and a 91/30 in wartime even less so due to the manufacturing costs.
>>
>>23055953
>k31 cost about 42 Swiss Francs
Make it 44 USD, adjust for inflation to 1932 and it would cost 741 USD.

Remington UMC .303 seems to be the best bet for factory mil loads. Other than that all I can say is to drop the $200 or so on a reloading set like the single stage that lee puts out.

Just spent a year trying to find a No1. Mk 3 in the US. Every single one was chopped up or refinished or ridiculously priced.

I dread the day I have to look for a No. 4, but they seem to have survived better than the No.1 Mk. 3's
