>inna Japan by the end of the war, he's assigned to clean up the beaches

Yea, my grandpa kinda encouraged cannibalism.

Fucked up things your relatives did in war thread?
>>
My uncle claimed he cut off the ears of dead soldiers in Vietnam at times, but I never believed him because he probably was full of shit.
>>

My grandpa died in Auschwitz so...

My grandma told me he fell off his guard tower.

>picked shrimp off dead bodies

Thats what is known as the food chain

As for my grandpops he never talked about what he did or saw during the battle of bulge. but he had that look about him. That, hand in a pile of goo/only the dead have seen the end of war, kinda look
>>
>>22781292
I BET he had his hands full of goo in the battle of the bulge.

My great uncle Brew was an officer in WW2. Apparently he executed a couple jews. He died in Berlin when he got shot with a certain piece of bolt action slavshit.
>>
>>22781240
I can confirm this to be true, my uncle is the only other Infantryman in my family and he was in Vietnam, he has pictures with his ear necklaces.
Bundy's son-in-law, also a Vietnam vet, has told us similar stories about having an ear necklace, and his wife confirmed that. He also had a buddy who cut off a gook titty, cured and dried it, and made a coin pouch out of it.

Guess my grandfather was the kind that never told any stories. All is known is he was a M1919 machine gunner in Korea and mowed down many Chinese. other two things he said soldiers would put their helmets on sticks and poke them out of fox holes for entertainment and to never use tanks for cover.
>>
Uncle stuffed Ace of Spades in the mouths of dead vietcong

My great great grandfather kept his mauser from WW1. Apparently he hid it in the beams of a farm house until his fucking son gave it to an officer in the 1940

My great grandfather died on Iwo Jima

On the defending side. Didn't know much about him, I'm half white and I don't know much about my Jap family besides what my mother used. Apparently they're all a bunch of smarmy cunts, so is rather not meet them anyways.
>>
My grandfather flew in the TBF torpedo bombers as the rear gunner back in WWII.

i guess the most fucked up thing he ever did was cut apart bodies on saipan where the japs had leapt to their death rather than being captured in hopes of finding gold teeth or a side arm, but he said the marines had all got their first. he did try to bring a skull home, but they made him dump it over the side when they got back to american waters.

>be innasherman
>breaking thru to Bastonge to liberate the 101st
>Tank hits mine, gets all kinds of fucked up.
>Medevac jeep comes to pick him up, he apparently hops on to the hood with a stomach full of shrapnel
>Jeep then proceeds to hit a mine
>gets blown up TWICE, lives
>awarded Purple Heart for gettin blown up twice
>honorably discharged, meets grandma

Thats about all I know of his career. He apparently was a crack shot before he went to tonk school.

He never spoke of what other things happened to him. My mom, my grandma, no one knew what he saw or did. He smelled like 40 packs of cigarettes and had this scruffy stubble that felt like being sanded to death with sandpaper and steel wool........I miss it......I miss him..........;_;
>>
My grandpa was a gunner on a quad Oerlikon turret on a 5th Fleet Destroyer Escort. He told me last week that when his and three other DEs were sweeping for mines ahead of a column around Pelileu, a rogue sea mine broke off its chain and surfaced admidships, and rather than risk more men on the big cruisers and carriers behind them, the skipper of the nearest DE to swing itself around and take the mine on its stern. Blew part of it off, ruined the screws and shafts, and the column had to swerve to miss hitting it. I'm not sure if they salvaged it or how, but thats a pretty goddamned ballsy thing to do.

Grandpa said the captain would have felt disgraced to let that mine past.

That absolute balls of these men were gargantuan.

My shop teacher occupied japan after the war. He found a truck full of food on the side of the road and couldn't get anyone to take it so he traded it to the locals for a brewery. He then reactivated the brewery powered by GI's will to drink. They got hammered playing poker with "funny money" he only later found out they were gambling with what would turn out to be tens of thousands of US dollars worth of jap currency .
>>
My grandfather's engineer squad on Iwo Jima found themselves sitting over an air tunnel for a Japanese hospital in a cave one night.

They found the entrance and blew it up with demolition charges then went back to the air vent and took turns dropping white phosphorous grenades down the shaft onto the trapped doctors and wounded.

They gave him the Bronze Star for selflessly leading his squad in destruction of an "enemy outpost".
>>
I don't know much of the details but I do know one of my great uncles was a resistance leader in Montenegro during WW2. He wasn't to fond of the king and he hated the commies so his handlers had him and his group get stuck with mostly what were essentially suicide missions for sabotage.

One story that comes to mind for him was:
>Italians trying to shell inland troop positions from ships just off the coast.
>Being Italians they can't hit shit and end up blowing up part of my families church.
>They send an Italian foot patrol through our land the next day to survey the damage and check for enemy casualties.
>Remember what that sniper did in FMJ?
>Uncle does that and picks of Italians one by one.
>Takes the bodies into the center of the village at night and dumped them in the center.
>>
>>22781427
Goddamn that must be awkward. My grandfather is still pretty biased, but he acknowledges that its just thats how he was raised, and doesnt actually hold any animosity.

Ive seen old soldiers on opposing sides meet up for beers and stories and hugs and it warms my heart. But some just can't let it all go.

>Fucked up things your relatives did in war thread
My great great uncle was supposedly a dedicated nazi in Sweden.
Some say he would offer safe heaven for Norwegian and Danish partisans at his home.
When they got there he would use a secret radio to contact German gestapo in deep cover in Sweden. Then they'd come in the night to take the partisans away. No one knows what happened to them, they were probably tortured and killed.

Great great uncle supposedly did this to over 50 men.
But there is no proof of it at all, and the only one that claimed it happened was his widow, and she was genuinely insane.

Grandad was a Ranger in Normandy. His unit was nearby when the Malmedy massacre was discovered.

Two weeks later he was ordered to take a group of guys and escort 120 or so German prisoners to the rear, then bring back a truck of supplies. He took six guys with automatic weapons. Three days later he shows back up at his unit with the truck of supplies. Somewhere along the line in the swamps around Utah Beach they "lost" all the prisoners and most of the ammunition for their guns.

>In some cases, flesh was cut from living people. An Indian POW, Lance Naik Hatam Ali (later a citizen of Pakistan), testified that in New Guinea: "the Japanese started selecting prisoners and every day one prisoner was taken out and killed and eaten by the soldiers. I personally saw this happen and about 100 prisoners were eaten at this place by the Japanese. The remainder of us were taken to another spot 50 miles (80 kilometres) away where 10 prisoners died of sickness. At this place, the Japanese again started selecting prisoners to eat. Those selected were taken to a hut where their flesh was cut from their bodies while they were alive and they were thrown into a ditch where they later died."[92]

I only have two great uncles from wwII

uncle one drove jeeps for high ranking officers and supposedly was driving with a jeep group that included Patton on the beach of Normandy not long after the invasion. Still tons of rotting corpses and blood splotches to witness, but he never saw real action.

Uncle 2
Very little is known about him because the war fucked him up pretty hard. He was late to the war and had to march across most of France to get to the front lines. Our family suspects he killed at least a few Nazis based off of his war medals. After the war was over he arrived in his hometown in Deleware and was upset that German POWs were working the farms there and being treated well by locals. His wife wanted to go to Paris later in life, but he vehemently stated he saw enough of France to last a life time.

My grandfather was a guard at Majdanek camp in Poland. He helped demolish it when commies were at their doorstep and ran. He was later "liberated" by the commies yet again, my grandmother was raped and nearly killed, and both of them managed to escape to British controlled territory after the war, and later both moved to America where they started a family.

They were the only survivors of the war on that side of my family. Ironic that their daughter would marry an American GI when she grew up, and THEIR kid would marry another GI. As for the rest of my family? Either died in war, captured by Russians then died, or died whilst liberated by Russians. Naturally, I have a slight animosity towards them because of what they had done to my family. Raped and killed several great aunts and their children, starved or shot the rest of them.

I later overheard from my grandpa talking to my dad (grandpa is on moms side of the family) that a half-joking brigade commander said that he would give a three day leave to the guy who gave him the head of a gook. Grandpa joined the Navy during WW1, became (at the time) the youngest chief petty officer ever, then fought in the Pacific theater of WW2. He had three nigga, *three* goddamn ships shot out from under him, one of which he was one of a few dozen survivors. At one of the islands they were stationed at he strangled a japanese infiltrator that had killed three of his buddies in their sleep at their camp. Not surprisingly he was sent stateside due to severe PTSD.

My grandpa was with the Canadian infantry in Holland and Germany. He died when I was eleven, but I did hear a few stories from him and what he told my Dad. Fighting tanks without any anti-tank weapons by using a rock to knock the treads off and then kill/capture the crew. His regiment's purpose was to defend the flank of the main advancing force so when there German artillery it was up to them to find and destroy it. He spent a year or two in post war Germany searching for Nazi sympathizers, and holdouts who refused to surrender.

He didn't go into to much detail, but the only time I saw him show emotion was that he was pissed that they wouldn't let him bring back a gambler pistol just like pic related that he bought from a Dutch pawn shop.

Hamas are cowards that deliberately hide amongst civilians.

But bombing strictly civilian targets such as Dresden is still a war crime.
You may be pissed at the German military, but killing thousands of people unrelated to the German military isn't exactly a solid retaliatory action. The Germans were afraid that Dresden was going to get bombed so they considered placing a bunch of allied POWs in the city, hoping to dissuade bombing raids. But they realized it would be cowardly and a war crime, so they never went through with it.

I also think its more the racism that the US had in the 40's verse the 60's and 70's. Also after witnessing Pearl Harbor, and the propaganda the US government churned out on a HOURLY basis, the people of america completely feared that the war was for their very lives. My mom described what her mom told her as my grandma grew up during world war 2, and said it was brutal what the average citizen believed.

The public of world war 2 truly believed that it was a war for their very lives, while Vietnam was just murica being murica.

My great grandfather went to fight as a mercenary in South America during ww2. Got shot in the stomach, pretended to be a brit because the locals didn't much like americans. Ended up getting bandaged up and put on a ship to England, where he worked until he had enough money to get a ride home. Not sure what happened to his brother that went with him. My dad witnessed what was technically a black op (sf guys he was stationed in Africa with got sick of hearing locals being cut up with machetes at night), so the got some suppressed smgs and handed their berets and dog tags off to some grunts. No kne got cut up after that night.

>>
>>22782977
I never claimed the Nazis were innocent, I don't sympathize with their ideology. The holocaust was terrible, I don't deny that. But it's difficult to use the holocaust as an excuse for allied war crimes when they didn't even know about the extent of the holocaust at the time. It should also be noted that WWII in Europe was about control of Europe, not about the safety of the jews, the allies didn't give a fuck about the jews. Before the war even started the Germans asked other countries, including the UK and USA to take the jews, but they refused. Even then Jewish refugees escaped Nazi-occupied territories into allied lands they were often forced to go back, as with the MS St. Louis incident.

>The Germans didn't even intentionally bomb cities at first, they only started after they did it accidentally and saw how effective it was at panicking the bongs.

What happened was a German flight of bombers couldn't find the airfield they were supposed to bomb at night so they dropped their load where they were and flew home. The bombs landed on London.

Then the British retaliated with a large bombing attack on a German city.

Then Hitler proclaimed total war against the British.

Yes, they invaded through Belgium, because the Belgians would never let them pass through peacefully. If the Belgians had pulled the "so neutral I don't give a fuck if you're here or not" card like Sweden did no one in Belgium would have gotten hurt.

Yes, Britain bombed Germany too. Germany started bombing airfields and industrial facilities. The Brits went straight for wherever they were likely to kill the most Germans.

Are you saying that the Brits never sank commercial shipping? Even to or from neutral countries? Because that's how my great grandfather died.
He was a merchant marine.

>grandfather was too young to serve in WW1
>too old to serve in WW2

>other grandfather was born just as korea started
>couldn't go to nam because he couldn't read or write

>I missed out on Iraq and Afghanistan because I am a felon
Gotta keep the family tradition, of having an excuse to not serve, alive.

The glass sections are too small to fit through, plus it's very cramped and you're basically in a chair seat on your back spread eagle. you can't even fit your parachute in with you, alot of guys didn't even fit their sidearms in.

Why are you on /k/ if you can't legallyown guns?
Don't tell me if you do own them or not, I don't want your dog killed and your house burnt just because of a couple posts on the internet

1)guns are weapons
2)guns are most common/effective weapons
3)military uses guns
I'm detecting a lot of hostility, are you that guy who fucked a cat?

I'm technically a felon in the military's eyes because of felony charges when I was a juvenile.

I can buy firearms no problem, but apparently the military doesn't think that people deserve 2nd chances. Besides, they pay shit from what I've heard.

That explains it. Were you stealing shit or just busted for something silly like pot?

I have two stories my grandma shared with me about life in Japanese-occupied Hong Kong.

>Grandma is in high school, just taking a test one afternoon
>Finishes test, hands it in, goes down to the street to buy bread
>Wild Japanese aircraft appears!
>Aircraft uses bomb, it's super effective!
>School building gets blown up just as grandma gets down to the streets
>Rubble lands around her
>Sees her teacher's thigh (shoe included) sticking out of the rubble

Second story
>Living in occupied Hong Kong
>Schools out (see above)
>Decides to sell bread to British POWs for money
>Day one, Brit POWs look extremely famished, agree to buy bread without haggling
>Grandma hands the bread through the fence, Brits take it and run without paying
>Day two, grandma asks the Brits to show her the money before she hands them the bread
>Grandma takes the money and runs
>Day three, POWs aren't there
>Apparently they got killed

And such was life under the Japanese occupation
