Basically, chans are inaccessable to normalfags who don't make an effort to learn how to use them. My prediction:
We'll see a few weeks of boosted "how do I 4chins" traffic, afterwhich everyone will fail at it so hard that they leave because they can't into using a fucking imageboard.

futaba channel has like, 5 "/b/" boards, each of them catering to the same topic. It keeps the idiot fumes down, though, by breaking 1 10,000 man /b/ into 5 2000 man boards so to speak.
moot could easily do this for high-volume boards (imagine: a world with 7 /pol/s, 2 /k/s, 10 /b/s) to help slow down the boards and promote "real" discussion. but he doesn't, and reading certain newsposts here and there, it appears that this is by design (doesn't want to "fracture the community" too much or something).

Interesting, but that was kind of what /out/ and /pol/ were intended as and the results have been mixed. It's not a perfect analog though, so it could make things interesting.
