The thing is, if you spend 8 hours a day on your PC every day, even though it's obsolete within a couple years, it's still probably worth the money compared to a much more durable good like a rifle.
That said, buying a rifle will be the better long-term use of the money (assuming you don't shoot more ammo, costing you even more).
