So the ammo situation with 5.45x39 seems to look pretty grim right now as far as brass cartridges go.

It seems commercially made 5.45 is made only in steel casing right now and the market doesn't seem to be wanting for brass (or so I've read).

And because scumbag ATF banned imports of 5.45 7n6, I guess the only way to some is to buy it from already existing stocks from before the ban, which really sucks as that's a very small market.

So I guess I don't really know all the details, but what is the distinction between 7n6 Russian surplus as opposed to others(?) I guess.

I'd love to get my hands on the brass because I actually enjoy reloading my rounds.
>>
>>30490586

Alot of people emailed and bugged a few brass manufacturers (also overseas so if imports shut off no more brass either) privi partizan replied and straight up said demand is no where close to enough, i forget the name of the other manufacturer but I know they only produced brass cases not loaded ammo.
>>
>>30490616
Was there any dollar amount mentioned for what would goad them into making brass? I have a college fund for a kid I'm never having doing nothing, and I'd be willing to grow that account into something that can actually be useful.
>>
>>30490616
That'd be nice if I could find that manufacturer of the brass, cause then I could (hopefully) get my hands on the powder, primers and bullets myself separately.
>>
>>30490635

Is it any good?
>>
>>30490709
Silver Bear is considered the go to, along with Golden Tiger.
>>
>>30490586

A group of guys tried to get a group buy going, all emailing privi and they got back and said 1 million rounds is the minimum order, the group buy died out after that.
>>
>>30490793
Fucking Christ man, I really almost half tempted to just go down to black market and get my shit there.

(NOT SAYING I WILL, ATF. FUCK ON OUTTA HERE)

>>30490773

If it works anything like a VZ sling, you remove the clip and feed it through the sling swivel and then both sides of the square part on the other end of the sling.

I read on a some forums that you can also resize .222 to fit .221 or something, but it's a lot of work and you need a lot of tools...

so I guess steel reloading is the only option, although I'm not sure how safe and reliable that is, since steel won't be as malleable as brass.

>>30492280
There is no "best" weight. The variance of 122-125 grains is just manufacturer to manufacturer differences - jacket thickness, alloy composition, slight ogive and boattail (or flat base) differences. As far as an AK is concerned, anything not tulammo is perfectly fine for marksmanship. Tulammo can have larger swings in velocity, hurting accuracy. If 5 MOA (5" @100 yards, 2.5 @ 50, 10" @ 200, etc) is okay with you, then there's no problem.

The open can with the loose ammo is because I thought the can of 7n6 was punctured so I didn't want the stuff to get fucked by humidity. Then I loaded up a few mags. I then went full autist so that I didn't see the missing pouches I open that entire can up and put them loosely in the can.

Did you get a factory SBR from Arsenal, do the cutting on a 16" model yourself, or have a gunsmith do it?

If you did the cutting yourself, how easy was the process for you? I'm familiar with how to cut and crown the barrels, but I'm just curious how difficult it actually is in practice.

There are two types of AMDs. The AMD-63 was the first model, adopted in 1963. Aside from lacking the upper handguard, and the skeletonized lower handguard/foregrip, it was the same as a standard AKM with a 16 inch barrel & fixed stock.

The AMD-65, adopted in 1965, was a shortened AKM with a wire folding stock, shorter gas system and barrel.

Florida can be hot as balls and shit, but we have the benefit of backyard ranges being legal, and as for photography we usually have a healthy amount of natural lighting.

Now all I need is an AK. Soooon. Until then I'll just keep lurking AKG.

Just a tip, you can make any decent photo look a lot better by opening it in gimp and doing the auto white balance correct, and then doing the unsharp mask a tiny bit. I'm no photography whiz but some anon posted that before and I tried it out and it really does improve some images a lot.

Partially to make your shit look even more mint and partially because this is an imageboard, so non-shit images are appreciated by myself anyways.

Having issues cycling it when hand cycling it or when actually firing it?

Issues caused by the gas piston interfacing with the gas block?

And my holes are partially covered. There was a bit of play in the gas tube so I modified an AK-74 gas tube tension spring to keep it from rattling. But I have never had any issues with my krinker.

Just when shooting, went out to shoot today with a can on and the sounds of the shooting starting getting quieter until it stopped ejecting empty cases, than the gastube was looser than before I dont thing the FSGB moved forward as its welded in place the welds still look fine and FSGB looks like it has not moved, I am thinking part of the forward part of the gastube moved back as the holes now are completely exposed when before it was only partially exposed. and the small part of the tube that sticks out past the wood is smaller (any way you could take a pic of how far yours is out?)

I know you said that your gas block doesn't look like its moved but that sounds a lot like what has happened and I'll tell you why:
You said that the cycling of the rifle started getting weaker and weaker until it was no longer ejecting at all, right? Obvious symptom of undergassing there. But the thing is, the holes in the gas block don't affect the gassing of the rifle at all, they're just there to bleed off the excess gas and get some of the carbon out of the action of the gun. You could literally drill a hole right through the side of your gas block and the rifle would function the same.

The gas block is under a lot of pressure forward every shot, because equal and opposite reaction and whatnot. It sounds like your gas block got pushed forward and slowly began to lose connection with the gas port in the barrel until the gun stopped working, which is also why the gas tube seems farther away now. I can't imagine any way that the gas tube could actually shrink in length like that.

How was your muzzle on your barrel? Was it perfectly flush with your FSGB? Take off your muzzle booster and see if the barrel has receded into the FSGB any. That will be the best way to check.

This is the best pic I can do ya fer right now, I'm out of town right now because 4th of July and I'm going on a date with a girl from /r9k/ tomorrow so that should be interesting.

I used a shitty kit from brownells that I had to modify because the smallest guide was a 5.56 and it didn't fit. It came with a planing tool that made the cut surface level and then an 11ยฐ crowning tool. Just spun both slow in a hand drill. Finished off with high grit sandpaper and my thumb. Make sure to cold blue the bare steel because it will rust, but clean it up well afterwards because the cold blue stuff has a weird reaction with the chrome in the barrel. I left myself a half centimeter of fuck up room on the barrel in case I fucked up.

The FSGB was pressed on until it was near the gas tube to where the gas tube was on but still loose and rattled a bit, after I shot it today it sounded like it was a bit looser, I think the end of the gas tube is pressed in a bit but it was not from me pressing on the FSGB, I can guaranteed Ive built more AK's than you but this is my first krink mind you, now please tell me how I was supposed to secure a FSGB that has no pin holes? Yeah, someone made a "pistol" chambered in 5.45x39 and that became a shitshow. Nobody defended it politically, until the same thing happened with M855 5.56x45.

Basically, AR owners didn't care that their rights were being infringed upon because it didn't affect them at the time. Then the 5.56 ban came up and suddenly everyone went "hay nooo, stop it for real this time, please".

Skinhead has a smoke/clear quad
>>
>>30498365
Exactly? How does Skinhead have all the good shit?
>>
>>30493288
It works pretty well at reducing flash and recoil, just be prepared for some pretty obnoxious muzzle blast and mine had a little bit of rust on it when it arrived.

Is it true that the ALG AK trigger will cause mushrooming on the carrier's tail just like the G2? I've already polished the hammer, but it still only contacts the tail at the very bottom as opposed to the full contact provided by mil-spec triggers.

TL;DR If I want to avoid mushrooming, should I stop using the ALG trigger?
