Almost the same here, grandpa (german) got shraphnel all over his body from a big bertha missfire. Sent home, had his 90th birthday a few months back
Also my great grandfather got saved from shrapnel by a coin in his breastpocket in ww1. My family is seemingly very explosion resistent
Does anyone know of any good books on WWI or WWII? I'm looking for something that would detail the events of the war in order from before the war to the end.
I'm very interested in the two world wars, but I'm having a hard time finding a book, or books, that offer a lot of information on all the battles and whatnot.

They were, but only up til the point that countermeasures were developed for them. After fighters started loading tracers and armor piercing incendiary rounds, being in a zeppelin became a very dangerous job.

Zeppelins only worked in (the first half of) WW1 because fighters couldn't fly high enough and AAA at the time couldn't shoot far enough to hit them.

This doesn't read too differently from tunnel warfare in the ancient world, except for the explosives. People have been digging tunnels to undermine enemy positions for thousands of years. In the ancient world you'd have the same counter-tunneling tactic, with the defenders of a city digging offensive tunnels in order to head off the people trying to undermine their walls. There have even been examples of tunnels being attacked with noxious substances in order to suffocate or otherwise incapacitate the enemy.

there were black soldiers in the german army, due to the german colonies in africa. if they were ever shiped to europe it was in very small quantities, as there was fighting in africa, too and they needed the black soldiers to fight there. it is however unlikely that any black soldiers made it to the battles of europe on the german side, as there was a heavy naval blockade going on and the journey was uquite long (might be mistaken but i think about 3 weeks from the german colonies to germany at least)
Of course blacks were never trusted with an officer's position, not even in africa.

Hungarians and Germans were more trustworthy soldiers for the Empire as they couldn't be influenced by Pan-Slavic movements, so they actually fought bit more than the Slavs.

True mostly, although one has to remember that Eastern Europe is rather diverse in it's layout - plains, forests, swamps, mountains and river valleys can all be found there aplenty, and all of them saw combat in WWI. Commanders had to constantly adapt to using battlefield to their advantage, fighting for a swampy road today and for a mountain pass tomorrow. Usually, they emulated Western tactics of focusing forces on a single direction for a heavy strike to tear the front-line, which usually ended up facing equally focused defenses and ended in nothing, like in West, except here the army movement happened not along the trenches but in open field. This approach was thrown out the window by Aleksei Brusiliov, who gave the Entente one of it's greatest successes throughout the war with his legendary Brusilov Offensive

Storm of Steel written by Ernst Junger. He served as an officer all through WWI for the Germans and wrote about it years later. It's a very good look into how badly life deteriorated for the Germans as the war progressed.

Wrangel was nowhere near the position to make a change in the Civil War, being a medium-level officer through WWI and becoming an errand-boy general for the Whites in Civil War. He was not trusted nor respected by other generals to become a uniting force. The closest he had come to paving his way to the top as the head of the Whites was his attempt to take Moscow from Bolsheviks - which ended up as total failure.

The main reason they were used in WWI was airplanes weren't very developed, and lacked range and payload which made them unsuitable for strategic bombing and naval scouting. By the 1930s airplanes were more capable and could do those missions while being cheaper and more survivable than Zeppelins.
