>Where
Near Blacksburg, Virginia

>What
Camping out, target shooting, campfire cooking, free raffle, horseshoes and hanging out.

>Who
Anyone 18 and older with a positive attitude that wants to have fun target shootings, hiking, camping, cooking out by the campfire and enjoying the great outdoors.

More info at www.nuggetfest.com
Carpools can be found on the /car/ carpool board at www.nuggetfest.com/forum

One week to go /k/ommrades.

I sent out the last mass email last night. Anyone that wants directions and didn't get it should email me

[email protected]
>>
>>30048654
>Is camping/sleeping on the ground or in my truck ok?

Yeah, that's what everyone that's not in a hammock will be doing.
And you don't have to participate in the group photo. You're welcome to wear a balaclava or whatever too, no one cares.

>>30048687
>>30048718
>>30048777
NuggetFest is not exclusive to /k/. It will always be NuggetFests' home and never stop being part of it, but we've had plenty of people come that don't even know what 4chan is that were brought along by family and friends that were /k/ommandos.

Anyone that fits the description I put in the OP is welcome to come.

I'm trying to make it out to you guys in Yuroland eventually.

Well come the fuck along then.

What are the regulations regarding bringing firearms between EU member states? I always assumed Switzerland had the best gun laws for its citizens but no idea if that applies for other nationals too.
>>
>nuggetfest at my local range
well shit. Can we try to tone down the faggotry? I don't want any bad press drawn to the one good local range.

Also, please don't be open carry autists in Blacksburg. Literally anything remotely bad that happens in Blacksburg makes national news, and I really don't want to be seeing
>Autistic man arrested with military-style camo and assault rifle near virginia tech campus
On my newsfeed
>>
>>30051619
Anon why not let go of your inhibitions and wear a paper bag over your head if need be, and then come play with us? We're not all autistic faggots, promise.
>>
>>30051588
A lot of the Scandinavian countries allow transporting firearms to designated ranges or target shooting events in other countries. So I plan to, eventually, setup a NuggetFest in Finland for all the Yurobros and register NuggetFest as a shooting competition at an actual range for legality and logistics.

>>30051619
If you come to NuggetFest and you'll see how fun, relaxed and relatively normal, but incredibly memorable it is. You won't regret it mate.
>>
Inb4 the donuts arrive
>>
>>30050604
Completely unrelated question but do you know if horses are allowed on that campsite?
>>30051641
>We're not all autistic faggots, promise.
Let me tell you how we all know you never came a fest.
>>30052016
>Inb4 the donuts arrive
That is a purely after bump limit party newfag, lurk moar.
>>
>>30052719

No horses, dogs, or cats at nuggetfest plz
>>
>>30052719
I don't think so but I can find out tomorrow.
>>
>>30052863
The range is separate from the campsite this time so I have no issue with someone bringing their horse if the Forest Rangers are fine with it. I gave on kommando the green light to bring some kittens that are in need of a good home.

But normally, you're right. Pets generally aren't allowed but sometimes I can make exceptions.
>>
Get hype. Post your party favors and kit
>very limited quantities of norico .223
>An unsporterized M1891
>Enough x54r to shake a stick at, but not much more
>AR and ELBV
>20 round mags, and 100 more rounds of loose ammo
>Cheap tent and camping gear
>possibly a pistol and small amount of ammo
>MREs
>Lots of canteens
>going to buy bottles of water and may pitch in for a Walmart raid, if I have enough cash.
>rifle cleaning stand and rod, with some 30 cal and .22 cal bits, and hoppes.

>>30052918
If 18, can I bring a pistol?
>>
In a bit of bad news, a friend of mine who was supposed to be visiting apparently got himself into a little drunken brawl and won't be leaving his state any time soon.

Good news is, I'M COMING TO NUGGYTOWN.

>TFW there's no way for my good friend to bring his arsenal down without driving it through NY which is just flatly not worth the risk.

Oh well, just gonna bring some spam cans of ammo and ask anons to let me borrow their funs instead.
>>
>>30053009
The fopa allows him to bring the guns unloaded in the trunk

If his car doesn't reek of weed there should be absolutely no issue if he gets pulled over

Still praying to the /k/ube that I have enough time to make it home after work to pack and make it down at a reasonable time. If not then I guess I have to wait till the mid west fest or something.
>>
>>30053032
True true!

However, and maybe I shouldn't listen to 4chan, I've been hearing here that NY State gives it's cops a wide-berth of discretion for how they can react to a discovery like that, especially when near or in the city which would we would have to pass inevitably (Unless adding hours to go out of the way, not out of the question but ugh).
>>
>>30050604
Anyone in Georgia car pooling?
>>
>>30053058
Don't give an officer probable cause. He cannot search. Period.

It's best to obey all traffic laws while doing so.

That being said, fopa is federal in scale. Nys would get the fuck sued out of them
>>
>>30052997
I looked it up; It's legal for anyone over 18 to own a pistol. However, you can't buy pistol ammo or buy another one from a licensed gun dealer.

Legally he can bring his funz through New York in accordance with 18 U.S. Code ยง 926A - Interstate transportationof firearms.

But I understand not wanting to deal with the hassle.
>>
>>30050608
I'm the Anon you were replying to in the last thread. Thanks for the reply.

Should I bring smore's and other food to share along with beer or does everybody pretty much just eat their own food and MRE's? Cause I really hate MRE's.
>>
>>30052997
Food food food
Also beer and water
I can definitely stay for clean-up too, if it's necessary.

Also looking around the area for waste disposal facilities and nothing's coming up.
>>
>>30053142
I will trade you beef jerky for smores.

>tfw missed out on the Zuppa Toscana last NF
>>
>>30053213
Deal.

>>30053123
Does this range allow tannerite exploding targets? I don't have to bring any...but what's a /k/ trip without shooting explosives.
>>
>>30053142
No problem. Food sharing/trading is pretty common. I know if you bring smores I'll eat a few. I'll be making hotdogs for everyone at lunch Saturday and probably Eggs/Bacon for breakfast Sunday.

>>30053291
Unfortunately this range doesn't allow tannerite. It was kind of hard finding a decent sized range with fairly nearby campsite in the South East.
>>
>>30052863
What part of completely unrelated question did you not understand little miss thinks anyone give a shit what you think.

And happily the jokes on you cause he said he would be cool since the range is a few miles away.
>>30052918
I wasn't thinking of bring my horses. I would worry about some closeted /mlp/ degenerate molesting them. Might take a /k/itty home though. Would name it /k/omrade /k/itty the /k/ommie /k/iller..
>>
>>30053469
Ah well. I look forwards to shooting, camping, hiking, and fishing. And shitposting irl with /k/ommandos.
>>
>>30053480

Don't go, horsefucker.
>>
>>30053099
Believe me, I'm the world's safest driver but you can't account for goofs on the road.
>>30053123
Yeah, basically what it comes down to is if he wants to. I'll send um the link tho!
>>
>>30053480
In all fairness >>30052863 was just reiterating a, normally common, rule I have for NuggetFest. But whatever, I thought you were bringing a horse to NuggetFest too lol. But definitely take home a kommando kitty man.

kitten_saying_fuck_Chechnya_and_so_we_went_to_war.png

>>30053484
It'll still be lots of fun regardless. I'm looking at getting a bunch of Tannerite for Arkadia Ranch.

>>30053593
Sounds good.
>>
>>30053469
Uhwarrie National Forest in NC has a range very close to one of the many campsites. Also they have offroading trails. The only downside is that they charge like a $5 fee to use the range at this podunk little gas station not too far from there. However the range is super nice. It has a bunch of brand new rifle bays out to 100 yds and a pistol bay. Plus the bathrooms at the campsite I stayed in had showers and toilets.
>>
>>30053058
With out attracting attention to yourself nothing will happen but police in NY state will rape your ass bloody if they have probable cause to search your car. Do you have the balls to forcefully refuse a search. Lots of people cave immediately when the cops says I need to see whats in your vehichle or when they say I AM going to search your vehicle NOW.
>>
>>30050604
can i bring my inflatable sex dolls? i have one male and one female. i'll share too
>>
>>30053751
Actually those would make really good targets. Especially with some tannerite.
>>
>>30053629
Yeah, there were some other ranges I had looked at but they had small fees for use too and I promised NuggetFest would always be free so even something small like $5 is a no go. Principle of the matter and all that.

>>30053751
>>30053811

How many people are coming? Will there be enough room for parking at the campsite, let alone tents?
>>
>>30055329
I think 20.
>>
>>30055329
>>30055382
Yes, the campsite has a designated parking area in addition to the actual area for tents. Plus several people stated they plan to sleep in their cars.

Currently there are 38 people on the email roster.
>>
>>30055435
What's the usual rate of return? Do most people who sign up usually show? I know blucarpet is on the list but he won't be able to come, so make it 37.
>>
>>30055458
Ah damn, that sucks. Usually about 80% of the people signed up show up, not counting the people they're bringing and the ones that get the info passed along second hand that aren't on the email roster.

Adding in the number of additional people being brought by /k/ommandos we'll be close to 50.

if anyone wants to shoot some battle raifus bring factory new .308/7.62 NATO brass case

ZQI or perfecta are good if you are a poorfag and around 60 cents a round if you are super poor ill hand you some rounds to shoot

remember key things
-keep your guns secured going across state lines expecially commie states
-dont break traffic laws and have your registration up to date to avoid police problems
-more sleep you want to get the further away from the fire you want to sleep
-no plastic, cans or bottles in the fire and it all has to be gone when were done
-keep it unloaded or holstered when not at the range

He contacted me a week ago. I had been emailing him over the last several days answering questions and giving insight to what NuggetFest is. I actually just got off the phone with him, chatted for an hour. He read through the entire article as I listened and gave minor corrections/clarifications. I'm content with his work.

You've most likely heard of the news website he writes for. The article will be published tomorrow, I'll post a link of it on the www.nuggetfest.com site.

>>30056989
I don't often say this, but the man in rainbow socks has some good safety advice. lol

>>30057258

DON'T TRUST JOURNALISTS

Creep. I run a website. We went through absolute hell with one of these parasites.

They pretend to be nice and friendly to you in the initial meeting.

Then they write whatever bullshit they want.

They will lie, they will exaggerate, they will be using misleading and weasel words.

Had an especially awful experience with a local journalist. He tried meeting with my wife alone while I wasn't home. He was trying to arrange meetings with her without my knowledge in a sexual manner.

Then the story was published and it was not what happened and full of shit.

Also Rules 1 and 2
>>
I'll be coming but staying in a hotel. Because fuck bugs and rocks when I'm sleeping.

I appreciate your concerns, and I really mean that, I'm not just saying it to pacify you. I vetted the journalist thoroughly. He linked me several articles that he wrote on 4chan over the years including ones where he interviewed moot (Christopher Poole) ,as well as his personal website. I fact checked his info and read all of the articles as well as several more that he wrote but hadn't linked to me.

His view on 4chan is more of a marvel at the complexity and diversity of the internet and the intersection of life where the cyber world meets the real world. NuggetFest being a perfect example of that unique and fascinating process. He's not the first media representative to contact me for an interview but he is the first I've given one to. He actually wanted to attend NuggetFest, not to bug people with questions, but to live the experience himself, though his schedule didn't line up.

And unfortunately rules 1 and 2 kinda went out the window when moot had to give testimony to a grand jury in 2007 lol.

>>30057382
Eh, no harm in that mate. To each their own, though a great deal of the fun at NuggetFest happens around the campfire at night with stories and sometimes drunken songs lol.

I'd like to shoot clays off the burm and rolling reactive rubber balls
>>

The range goes to 100yds.

I believe there are target stands in place at the range but I'll be bringing some just in case. I and a few others will also be bringing targets and clay pigeons. I think I still have a reactive rubber target somewhere which I'll bring if I can find it. We can shoot clays at the pistol/rifle range if we clean them up afterwards. Shotgun range is obviously fine with clay pigeons and we don't have to clean those up, just the shells and other misc trash.

>Target Shooting And Knife Swapping: Inside 4Chan's Most Interesting Meetup
>Imagine youโ€™re trekking deep into the woods of Virginia. You are searching for the clearing where you will be camping for a June weekend. Once you find it, thereโ€™s more than three dozen people with machine guns, sniper rifles and handguns. These people are your fellow guests; they are from 4chan.
>This is not a nightmare or some lousy attempt at fiction at the expense of 4chan, a 12-year-old image sharing site where users shrouded in anonymity peddle pornography, organize pranks and unearth some of the Internetโ€™s beloved memes.
>>
>>30063258
>This is NuggetFestโ€”perhaps one of the most fascinating, easily misunderstood and completely legal Internet-based meet-ups.
>On June 3, 50 people will descend on the forests near Blacksburg, Va. A large campsite has been rented 20 minutes from a shooting range for private use. There is no running water or electricity. Beyond the individual cost of provisions and camping gear, there is no fee to attend NuggetFest.
>The purpose of the event is both obvious and nuanced. On the official website for NuggetFest, it states that attendees can expect a weekend full โ€œof hiking, target shooting, camping out, cooking around the campfire.โ€ But according to numerous emails with Travis Geil, 27, a blue collar worker in Michigan and the beating heart and organizer of NuggetFest over the past two years, the weekend is more about challenging stereotypes.
end of article
>>
>>30063266
my bad, not the end
>In terms of the demographics of NuggetFest attendees, the entire spectrum has been represented. Geil provided an exhaustive list of professions represented; they included: mechanics, therapists, lawyers, radio show hosts, Department of Defense employees and tailors. The list of personal attributes is equally impressive. NuggetFest has had women, Christians, atheists, Hispanics, Asians and members of the LGBTQ community in attendance. Most attendees are in their 20s.
>โ€œI think I can safely say Iโ€™ve taken the biggest risk of anyone thatโ€™s ever been to NuggetFest, having invested so much of my life into it, and I have an untold amount of respect for each person that ventures into the unknown abyss of 4chan and decides to attend an event Iโ€™ve hosted,โ€ Geil told me.
>The particular abyss that Geil referenced is 4chanโ€™s weaponry imageboard, better known as /k/. The board is one of more than 60 on 4chan. Each board has its own topic and lingua franca. These boards include those like /v/ (video games), /x/ (paranormal), and /a/ (anime). The most popular image board is /b/, home to all things random. This image board, to the chagrin of 4chan founder Christopherโ€mootโ€ Poole, has defined the site since he launched it in 2003 as a teenager living in his momโ€™s New York apartment. /b/ is where hundreds of stolen nude celebrity photographs in 2014 were disseminated and hackers illegally obtained emails from former Gov. Sarah Palin in 2008. While much of /b/โ€™s juvenile language (the word โ€œfagโ€ is everywhere) and antics have infected every other imageboard, /k/ remains different.

>With the second amendment as its rallying cry, /k/ (where users call themselves โ€œkommandosโ€) regularly features discussions on women in the armed services, the history of American military uniforms and what knives are the most reliable. /K/โ€™s unofficial gun of choice is Russiaโ€™s Mosin-Nagant, a 19th century bolt action rifle, also known as the โ€œMoist Nuggetโ€ by 4chan users less impressed by its workmanship. This is where the name NuggetFest comes from.
>Complete randomness, $3,000 and blind faith

The story of NuggetFest began in the summer of 2014. Geil had just moved back home to Michigan after leaving a marriage and the United States Marine Corp. He was a longtime /k/ lurker, a common term used online to describe someone who is content on watching content pile up from the sidelines without engaging. That was until Geil saw a thread on /k/ titled โ€œNorth East NuggetFest Thread#9.โ€ The following is an example of a recent NuggetFest thread; the design of /k/ remains largely the same.
>โ€œIโ€™ve been on 4chan for many years but the fact that I happened to be in a thread on /k/ at just the right time in my life and in the events early beginnings seems almost fated,โ€ Geil told me.

>The thread was the latest in a string from /k/ user LIShoot (short for โ€œLong Island Shootโ€) who was organizing the first NuggetFest along with a user named NEPA (short for โ€œNorth East Pennsylvaniaโ€). NEPA was offering up 40 acres of his own in Pennsylvania to host the roughly 50 kommandos representing more than a dozen different states. Everything was going smoothly until a NEPA family emergency derailed NuggetFest two weeks before its start.
>LIShoot and the 50 kommandos freaked out; they had taken time off from work, ordered target shooting ammunition, and had put in for military leave to attend NuggetFest. LIShoot emailed Geil in a panic. Geilโ€™s response was simple, โ€œGive me 48 hours.โ€
>โ€œThe very next day I drove from my hometown in Michigan to Pennsylvania and rented a 53 acre, two-year minimum, hunting lease,โ€ Geil told me. โ€œI drove seven hours to a state Iโ€™d never been to before, so I could spend $3,000 on a hunting lease for a bunch of strangers from the Internet Iโ€™d never met before.โ€
>Geil spent the following days leading up to NuggetFest preparing the grounds. He trimmed several small saplings to prepare firing lanes for target shooting, bought a weed whacker to clear brush for setting up tents, bought a pickax and shovels to dig several fire pits and bought lumber to build an outhouse. The work paid off. In the end, 35 kommandos showed up, including Joshua Geho.

>Geho, just 30-years-old during the first NuggetFest in 2013, was one of the oldest kommandos in attendance and one of the most knowledgeable when it came to weapons. Geho has an extensive weapons collection and typically brings $30,000 worth of firearms to each NuggetFest for attendees to use. Heโ€™s also been the head range safety officer at the gathering. The most popular firearm Gehoโ€™s brought is his Barrett M107A1 .50BMG with a Barrett QDL suppressor.
>โ€œWhat really made the weekend special was profound, deep sense of comradery that happened almost instantaneously,โ€ Geho told me over email. โ€œBy the first evening (maybe just five hours into the trip), I felt like I had known these people my whole life. I felt perfectly safe and at home among these people, brought together only by our common interest of firearms.
>Among the $30,000 worth of weapons Geho has brought included Title II firearms which are more strictly regulated by the U.S. government. These weapons consist of machine guns, suppressors, short-barrel rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs) and destructive devices (DDs). Aside from Gehoโ€™s guns, NuggetFest attendees are free to bring their own weapons. Under section 18 U.S. Code ยง 926A Interstate Transportation of Firearms; it is completely legal for residents of one state to transport their firearms to another in which those firearms are also legal, Geil told me.

>Most NuggetFest attendees stay in tents, some bring hammocks, while others sleep in their cars. The first outhouse Geil built was done hastily and ended up being burned. In their place two, more professionally made, outhouses were crafted with the help of Geho. Each piece of wood was numbered so it could easily be assembled on-site. The design of both outhouses ended up being featured in The Survivalist magazine this spring.
>To this date, no major issue or injury has occurred at NuggetFest.
>โ€œA lot of people only post on 4chan with the intention of having a laugh at someone elseโ€™s expense, but they are limited to the safety of their online anonymity,โ€ Geil told me. โ€œThey arenโ€™t going to drive hours away from home to cause trouble at an event in which the majority of attendees are armed.โ€
>Sticking to his guns
>Nearly three years and seven NuggestFestโ€™s later, the personal interactions with complete strangers has made Geilโ€™s financial investment worth every penny.
>Geil has hosted NuggetFest in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Nevada. His largest NuggetFest had 80 people in attendance, with most events averaging 50-60 folks. Every U.S. state has been represented.
>โ€œWeโ€™ve had people carpool in vans all the way from California to attend summer NuggetFest in Pennsylvania,โ€ Geil told me. โ€œThatโ€™s a 37 hour drive for a three day weekend camping trip. Weโ€™ve even had people drive down from Canada to attend, officially making NuggetFest an international event.โ€

>Geil has never charged a formal fee to attend NuggetFest but has accepted donations. Heโ€™s received about $1,000 in donations from people since the start of the meetup This small amount of money has helped offset some of the costs, such as gas. Wild West NuggetFest in Nevada in March 2015 was a 27 hour drive for Geil while Midwest NuggetFest in Missouri was an 11 hour haul. At each NuggetFest, attendees have been just as magnanimous. One older couple in their 40s has given out at least $10,000 worth of target shooting ammunition over the years, Geil told me.
>โ€œDiscussions vary from the main points of NuggetFest like camping gear, firearms and such to other things like amateur radio, building trucks/cars from scratch, computer programming, comicbooks, movies, tv shows, you name it,โ€ Geil added. โ€œThe people Iโ€™ve met there are the greatest in the world. Iโ€™ve stayed the night on their couches after events, had dinner with their families, played toys with their children, been invited to their weddings and been a reference on their job interviews.โ€
>Between now and June 3, Geil will continue to work his day job and maintain his online retail store called The Crimson Caravan. The store was formally registered in Michigan and launched in 2014. He sells embroidered Velcro patches, custom temporary tattoos, glass beer-steins, gas masks and other military surplus clothing. All of the money earned from the store goes to supporting NuggetFest and keeping the event free.

Though I am truly grateful to every person that donates and places an order online.โ€

I don't get it. The article doesn't seem to negatively reflect Nuggetfest at all. Except to mention that 4chan is a site where people "peddle pornography", which isn't at all untrue. He couldn't mentioned 4chan's reputation for CP, now that would have looked bad.
>>
>>30063382
He needed to explain what the average person knows about 4chan first.
>You know, that hacker?
After THAT, he needed to explain what board he was specifying. As for creep fucking up, I meant it in that he went public.

Now, Forbes magazine will have a lot of redirected traffic to or from 4chan, many for the first time, and we should expect significant numbers of normies that will either try to shit on the board or the site in general, or they could want to stay and learn more.

The days of rules 1 and 2 have been gone longer than they even mattered but no one can say right now what effect it will have on the board in general. I've been here a long time and can say with certainty it won't be any worse than when we were overrun with newfags because of dorner or zimmerman.

That varies significantly based on the writer and editor involved. He informed me ahead of time that he wouldn't be able to include all of the information I gave him and I understood. Though I'm not saying most news organizations don't write their articles with an intended portrayal already in mind.

>I've been here a long time and can say with certainty it won't be any worse than when we were overrun with newfags because of dorner or zimmerman.

>Listen up sunshine, if you have any problem with what WE ask of you when you're handling OUR weapons save your breath. You can take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut for all we care.
Some of us bring expensive shit and even the less expensive weapons we let anyone shoot have value. Some of those ARs you talk shit about are home builds and have the added value of pride...something you may not know anything about.

For you to waste time telling the owner of anything why it's ok for you to do what you want is something a 6 year old does, are you some kind of spoiled little shit in need of some love anon?

Either find gratitude for the unending generosity people at NuggetFest show each other or go to a Rainbow Family gathering with the rest of the commie anarchists who hate the idea of private property and rules.

The only thing you need to say to sa/k/uya or anyone else about their weapopns, food or property is thanks sharing that with me that bro.

Come on down /k/ommrade. You probably won't be the only 18yr old there, and what better way to get involved in the hobby and learn from others?
