I am >>29979733 and I work with 11C in the field. It is just that people find this to be an unfortunate MOS because it is not the "image" of the infantry. These guys are a vital part of the infantry unit, the first thing you do when you lay down in a BP is make a range card so that mortars can be directed easily. A lot of people end up carrying mortars whether they're 11C or 11B. In mech units you will shoot some big ass fucking mortars from the back of a vehicle. They haul their mortar tubes and plates wherever they go. The mortar is the weapon of an 11C. The Rifle / Machine gun is the weapon of an 11B.

It's basically college. The biggest problem in all of the heavily academic military schools is that people can't stop getting drunk and fucking eachother long enough to buckle down and study. Thats a whole lot of assumptions in one post. Youre assuming that im just "playing" operator. Even if I wasnt, was it really worth your time to shit all over my post and not just answer the damn question? Its alright if you dont know the answer, but you dont have to be a dick about it. The whole purpose of this thread is to ask people in the military questions about the military. Why is anyone of these questions more valid then mine?

There's not really any such thing as an easy language, because you have less time to master the easier language due to a shorter course. Sure, it's better at the beginning because you aren't learning a new alphabet or some nonsense, but at the end of the course a person with 18 months of speaking a language is obviously going to be more fluent than a person with 6 months.

How in the world do you figure that? There are more opportunities to actually do most trades in the Army, and a wider variety of them to begin with.
>>
>>29983672
>How in the world do you figure that? There are more opportunities to actually do most trades in the Army, and a wider variety of them to begin with.
100% untrue. The navy still deploys constantly which means all their equip-ment still breaks. You will get way more experience working in the navy on a trade than in any other branch. And as far as the more variety part that aint true either. The army just breaks down one job into 5 and calls them all something different. The navy doesnt do that.
>>
What branch is best for a directionless college dropout in his mid 20's?

I was a high academic achiever with math and language skills, although I would prefer a position that wouldn't depend on them too much.
>>
>>29983704
You're going to try to tell me that the Navy has better carpentry opportunities? More horizontal construction engineering opportunities? More plumbers?
Can you back this up?

Also, last time I checked, you can't guarantee you'll even get to do those jobs when you sign with the Navy.
>>
>>29983720
Man it depends what you want to do. What job/MOS/rate you get is more important id say even than what branch you join. Decide what you wanna do first then figure out which branch is best.
>>
>>29983741
>you can't guarantee you'll even get to do those jobs when you sign with the Navy.
Wtf yes you can. What does that even mean?
And I can definitely tell you if you want to fix aircraft, work on engines and welding then absolutely 100% yes. Who do you think keeps ships running? Keeps the helos on board flying? Plus all the aircraft on carriers. Then i could talk about all the ITs working while underway and at shore, all the ETs doing the same as well as all the crypto guys. Lad maybe while we were at war the army stood a chance but now the the army isnt deploying and the navy still does you cant even compare the 2.

>Decide what you wanna do first
I think that's the biggest hurdle. I'd be fine with any position that is tedious but doesn't require me think so hard.

I think welding or mechanic seems nice, if those are actual positions. I really have no idea at all what's available. Do you even get a choice what you do? I thought those aptitude tests sort of decide what you do.
>>
>>29983768
So you can lock in your job now before joining? You couldn't a decade ago. That's actually pretty sweet.
You seemed to ignore my examples. There are a TON of trades that the army simply has more opportunities in. Aviation and welding? I'll give you those two. I'd also argue the Navy wins for electricians. That said, I can list ~30 other trades where the Army is the clear winner.
You're jumping into IT and crypto now. That has nothing to do with trades.
>>
>>29983812
>I thought those aptitude tests sort of decide what you do
They decide what you are limited to. If you score low you are limited, if you score high then you qualify for everything.
>welding or mechanic
Literally both jobs are available in the navy mate.
Gimme a sec ill find some links
>>29983816
Mate im not talking shit on the army cause im a navy vet who is joining the army now so i got nothing but love. Im just saying of the mos/rates that are available in both id go navy over army. If the navy has some that arent in the army or vice versa than they dont count. But if i could get the same job in either branch id choose navy for sure. When you are deployed on a ship literally all you do is your job. nearly non stop work/maintenance/watch. You get good at it real quick.

Machinist seems about right, althought looking through it now it seems like a bit of a waste of an ASVAB score not to just train a little more and go into the SEAL program instead.

What's an average ASVAB score like? How much do personality tests factor into these things? For curiosity's sake, I probably would never get accepted into any SO program anyway.
>>
>>29983984
Mate it all comes down to what you want to do. If you want seal than go seal. But be warned, if you fail out you will get stuck with the worst hell of earth job in the navy.
>>
>>29984011
>you will get stuck with the worst hell of earth job in the navy
How does that work? Is it because you failed out of your choice so they stick you where there was the least demand or SEAL applicants have the highest apptitude overlap with shitty jobs? Seems like some pretty powerful motivation either way.

What is the worst job?
>>
>>29984035
>>29984035
>What is the worst job?
Un-designated. Means you got no job. basically you get sent to some random ass ship and you are treated like a literal slave. You will spend all day working for the BMs. Chipping paint and re-painting will be your life for most likely years. You are able to strike/fall into some other rate if a slot opens but that can take a very long time especially if you hold out for one you actually want rather than doing anything just to get out of deck division. Its horrible. They send you there cause it requires no training. you just fail out of any school not just seal and they just dump you there cause it requires no leg work or money on the navys part. Plus they always need slaves on ships to do the shit work.
>>
>>29984059
>years
That's the worst of it, I wouldn't mind chipping some paint for failing but if that ends up being my entire deployment it's definitely not worth the risk. So SEAL dropouts end up being ship bitches, huh.
>>
>>29984092
It can easily last years. And
>SEAL dropouts end up being ship bitches, huh
Like I said all rates have this fate. But yes seals have such a high dropout rate so most Undes guys who get forced into it are from this. I had at least 7 "Bud Duds" on my ship. They absolutely hated it. One used to get in trouble on purpose just to get kicked out.

I have a simple routine for some time : 10km everyday and some exercise at home (don't know the name in english) working mainly arms and torso. But I will soon have a contest to join special army unit and I must have the best result possible.

I wanted to start a diet since I've never really given a fuck about what I was eating but what is the optimal body type in term of effectiveness ? What am i supposed to aim at ?

tl;dr what kind of training do you do for special force enlistment ?

You say you need it to keep up, ever considered it's a young man's game and you shouldn't be juicing? From my experience those are always the retard meatheads.

I want to do something physically heavy. But most intelligence services seem like you'll just be staring at a computer screen all day. And that's not what i want to do.

Controller and weather are different jobs. They maintain the ballistics and aircraft radar.

I posted a couple threads ago and then got busy with real life. What branch will take me if I'm missing a nut that was surgically removed as a kid from injury?
>>
>>29997585

All of them.
>>
>>29997585
Any. Seriously.

Did you lose the right or left nut? Left nut is best nut. I won't judge.
>>
>>29997596
Really? That army recruiter told me no. How do I find the exemption form or whatever so I can come back with more than just "the internet said so"
>>
>>29997605
Don't go in assuming or telling them you're missing a nut.

Keep your mouth shut. There isn't a "how many testicles do you have" question.

That's for your fellow recruits and DI to discover during communal shower time.
>>
>>29997605
Ok a simple google helped here. Recruiters say it isnt a dq. However a recdnt urology test will help and have as much documentation on why it was removed as humanly possible and something that shows that it was a success. Best of luck to you.

So when they ask if I have any physical deformities or surgeries, the answer is "no" followed by "that was so long ago I forgot" if they somehow find out?
>>
>>29997605

The guy must have been retarded or new. You can enlist with parts of your fingers and toes missing.

You don't file anything. He writes it up, you go to meps, the docs make notes of it, you get an interim disqualification, the recruiter files a waiver, you wait X number of weeks, it comes back approved, you enlist.

Find another recruiter. The guy is either lazy or doesn't know what the fuck he is doing.
>>
>>29997663

Don't listen to that faggot, don't lie.

Report it and get the waiver so you don't get kicked out for false enlistment.
>>
>>29997663
Basically.

Same thing like when they ask if you've ever smoked weed. "No".

Your biggest concern is if the doctor at Meps clears you. Which I predict 90% chance. Missing 1 ball isn't really a physical impediment, it just sucks.

I answered your questions now mine. Left nut or right nut?
>>
>>29997687
OK Scooby Doo platoon. Stfu kid they come here for mil advice not fellow deppers advice.

Lie lie lie.

>>29997687
Thanks for the sage advice.
And it's the right one that's missing.
I'll be going in as a 68W who's already got his NREMT and state cert, so hopefully I can get in my year of work and then drop my packet for flight medic school.
>>
>>29997700

Funny, considering that I have probably been out for longer than you have been in.
>>
>>29997705
Scooby-Doo is a depper don't listen to >>29997687

You still got the left one. Cuddle it and call him Lefty.

On a serious note yes stay quiet. If I were you I would drive to the next over recruiting station and start fresh since you already blabbed you're a 1 nut to current recruiter.

Like I said your biggest challenge is the dr at meps and I'm sure they would clear you. Do it, no guts no glory.
>>
>>29997789
I'm out also you try hard. Since 2011.

Impress me with your hardass career. I'll counter it. Scooby.
>>
Well guys I did it. Commissioned on Saturday. Head to Pcola in November to begin flight school. I'm actually gonna be a pilot.
>>
>>29997416

Could anyone who isn't in a hurr durr retard mos speak on this job?
>>
>>29997826

No idea what a "scooby" is. Must've been after my time.
>>
>>29997898
You suck on peen.

Hurt durr
>>
>>29997911
It's not a military thing.

Your reply reminded me of a child speaking. Suddenly the image of old Scooby Doo cartoons imaged in my head.

So to me, I'll call you Scooby. I think it's kinda catchy. Tripfag it and you'll be my hero.
