For America and North America in general, is there any doubt that an AR15 is your best bet at a SHTF rifle?
>parts and ammo commonality with military/police
>5.56 is adept at medium-large game (with proper shot placement), four legged or two legged
>reliable and accurate
>aftermarket like legos
That being said, what would the optimum specs for such a general purpose rifle be? Meaning barrel length, gas system, sights, etc. Is there a...

AR SBR a best.
No need for 500m shots in SHTF
>>28867431
It all depends on what you want to focus on and your location. Personally I want to get an 18" SPR with an adjustable zoom optic. Keep it light and handy. I have a 20" AR right now with an A2 stock and its not the worst choice for me considering where I am.
Yes, an IR capable, Suppressed SBR AR is by far the best SHTF rifle you can buy.
in SHTF that third pin is getting drilled though
Is there any reason to use a .45 over 9mm for EDC?
>>28867371
.45 super in a small pistol ( an XD or Boberg)
I carry 9mm, so that's the only real reason I can think of
Makes your dick bigger. Increases test. Girls flirt with you more. Id rather have a 45 if I had to shoot a dog, which is a real threat in San Antonio. Guns chambered in .45 are unobjectively the coolest guns. Many reasons, friend
>>28867371
It makes bigger holes in things.
You guys ever notice that we have way more threads of some idiot with an ND than someone saying they used a gun in self defense?
Almost all of those NDs could've been prevented with a manual safety. I challenge you to find ONE (1) verified story of a self defense situation going horribly wrong because the defender forgot to tun off the safety.
>>28867318
>implying any news source can accurately describe any weapon used in any story ever.
>implying any news source would ever report on a life lost due to manual safety fumbling
I'm not saying you're right or wrong I'm saying you're asking for the impossible.
>>28867318
>having a safety makes people not retarded
I guess putting a seatbelt on makes no one ever crash too right?

>Metaphors; Do you even?
Okay, this time I've really got a great original idea for a new type of firearm action.
One of the bolts is missing from the drawing for simplicity.
This is how it works:
It's a side by side for magnum rounds like .45-70 or .44mag or something. There are 2 bolts and 2 magazines but the action is worked by tilting the barrels back forth clockwise or counterclockwise. The bullets eject backwards over the bolts and the barrels push the bolt down causing it to feed out of the magazine. This avoids the problems semi-autos have with these mega recoiling...

I like the art decor squares anon, you should consider getting into interior design
>>28867247
They're not art, they're so kel-tec will like it.
>>28867232
Are you the same guy who came up with the forward-mounted-magazine fed revolver?
Why can't you just shoot heroin like everyone else?
In a world dominated by Multicam, tans, and digital camo, is there still a place for Woodland?
The vast majority of gear excludes this camo. Is it not "tactical" looking enough, or has it become less effective than newer patterns?
if you like it then wear it, most of /k/ loves to play dress up anyways so why not
>>28867172
if you're a hipster operator like me, yes
>>28867172
I like it. It's cheap and if you live in a literally woodland area, it works. Well, for me it does at least. I've had guys walk past me while I was laying down in in a bush with it before.
>Drone Pilot: At least one child... really? Listing [him as a] MAM [military-aged male] - that means he's guilty.
This book is the most shitful thing I have ever read. What is wrong with you America?
>The chief screener, an intelligence professional who supposedly had been trained to make lethal judgements on the basis of her observations, provided insight into her training in cultural awareness when she recalled how the vehicles had "stopped and a large group of MAMs began to get water, wash, and pray. To us that is very suspicious because we are taught that they do this before an attack."

What's the deal with this rifle?
Why is it so often ignored?
>>28866397
Can't really get it in the states.
>>28866403
But it is it any good?
I heard that it breaks down into pieces whole being used.
>>28866397
they are few and far between
Is artillery even still relevant in this day and age? I'd imagine the nature of asymmetrical warfare makes the King of Battle basically obsolete.
Go away
>>28866364
Why?
I'm genuinely curious. I wish to know what place it has now. If it's still relevant, or if we're just keeping it going in case of more conventional conflicts.
howitzers like in your picture are not relevant outside of providing welfare work
Looking to get a 308 semi auto rifle. Budget is $2000 What does /k/ recommend?
save a bit more cash and get a scar 17
>>28866020
I have the cash but I don't want to spend that much.
>>28866011
>$2,000
Colt 901 would be my only real suggestion at that price point, and it's a pretty good one actually.
DPMS is not good despite what the poorfags/fudds will tell you, and the "bild it yerself" route will come out around the same.
Colt has really stepped their game up recently as well and with 5.56 conversions available and eventual 7.62x39 conversions, there's also that to consider if it interests you.
I am Australian. I have never seen a gun in my life. Ask me anything.

I have an old surplus mosin nagant rifle that was made in the United States which was sent over to Russia somewhere before or during world war one and somewhere down the line it got in the hands of a Finland soldier and has a Finland stamp mark on it and as well been used during world war two and the winter war and somehow made it back over here which I got it for just $100 dollars.
I have a large stack of spam cans with surplus ammo and I'm planning on getting the rifle hard chrimed so that way I wouldn't have to worry about corrosion from surplus ammo.
How...

Seriously, contact a local gunsmith.

Why do we not still use 30-06 from a military standpoint? the recoil is manageable, and it can send a 220 grain round at 2,602 fps, on the highest end. knowing the military it would probably settle around 2300, but I digress.
the round has that nice tail on the end of the bullet so it flies straighter than other rounds. it's much bigger than .308 and has much more potential power, why don't we use it? it's not like it's hard to make or in short supply.
pic related shows size difference, .308 is on top
556 is cheaper
>Wanting to lug around a 25 lb. service rifle
Have fun with that
>>28863642
5.56 isn't the alternative to 30-06, faggot.
>>28863619
.308 works just fine.
