How do you all feel about open carry? Do you prefer CCW?
I just moved to a state that allows it (CO) however I rarely see anybody actually doing it. For all you out there in open carry states how common of a practice is it?
>this thread again

I don't post here often, brah. Feel free to ignore if you find this topic too repetitive.

I've seen three open carries in TN. Two out of the three were well dressed, one was shopping at Walmart and another was working at a Nissan dealership. The third guy (who I also saw in Walmart) was a greasy fuck wearing a tank top and was carrying in a nylon holster, hand casually resting on the grip, while trying his hardest to get some pussy from the fat chicks wearing pajamas standing in line for the pharmacy. Its all about presentation. The first two seemed like pretty chill guys. The last one made me concerned and looked like an idiot. I'm not going to tell you whether to OC or not. I have before for short periods of time while hiking. I would ask, however, that if you are going to OC, don't look like a fucking degenerate. I'm all for desensitizing the public to guns, but Please for the love of God look presentable. If you're going to dress like a piece of shit, you're doing more harm to the gun community than good.
>firing pin stuck as shit.
>wat do?
I've tried boiling it for a few hours. Any of suggestions?

its a total loss. im sorry anon. you can send it to me so i can hang it on my wall, if you want.

Nah. Shut your fucking mouth.
>>29324855
ok what's your address?
Why do these cost more than a 1998 Honda Civic?
Because they are better than a 1998 Honda Civic
Most guns cost more than a 98 civic. The can stamp wont help though.
Why do you need a car when you have a gun? Just hold somebody hostage until they get you to where you want to go.
Could it work?
No.
>>29324454
Sure, for 1977 static rpg target practice
>>29324454
It could work poorly, yes
Are there any real benefits to be had from running/ walking with plates on for example?
Get used to the weight. Good test to see if you're in shape enough to actually use your gear.
What is conditioning?

My dad says that body armour doesn't give much of an advantage because it slows you down making you easier to hit. He also said it tended to make his troops take more risks. Maybe he's right because there isn't a massive difference between the percentage casualty rates of Vietnam and Iraq.
>get a serrated knife

Serrations a shit.
Don't buy shit knives with shit serrations.
I use my Spyderco Salt to cut rope constantly, and I've had the thing for 5+ years of daily USCG use and it's never failed me.
>>29324216
They let you use knives in the Coast Guard?
Hey /k/ I need help to find the best self defense/ prepper weapon for me.
I'm a victim of the Lautenberg amendment
(I fought my dad when I was 17 and because of this Amendment I can never own or posses a gun. Felons can get their rights restored but not people with Domestic Violence charges. Let me repeat it as some idiots think you can YOU CAN NOT GET YOUR GUN RIGHTS RESTORED.)
Anyway, things are getting worse in the world daily and I want to have a small horde of supplies in case something were to happen.
My main problem is I don't have...

If anything, height is a hindrance in Oper8ing

A FUCKING JELLY DOUNUTS ARE YOU INCAPABLE OF LISTENING TO BASIC FUCKING RULES YOU MOUTH BREATHING SACK OF SHIT.
Fucking private piles fuck you and your fat bellied bullshit costing them unit to do push ups while you eat the fuckin DOUNUT.
I understand that helmets are made for shrapnel & debris, but if someone stacked 2 (or 3) steel pots on top of each other and welded them together to be like 1/4 inch thick would it make you practically bulletproof on your head? Sure it would be very heavy but even one m1 offers more protection than a Kevlar helmet because it deflects instead of absorbing impact.
Have fun in the sun
Helmets were an air item in LRS. An "air item" was something you stowed away after parachuting into your objective. We wore patrol caps, drive on rags, boonies, watch caps, skull caps or whatever we felt like that was issued equipment. The ability to keenly hear and observe outweighed the precaution of incoming fire.
However, have you ever worn a helmet with MILES gear strapped to it? Your neck gets a good workout. That shit is so heavy, it is distracting. Would you want a platoon of men thinking about the weight of their helmets sucking ass or would you want...

Helmets aren't much good if they're so heavy nobody ever wants to wear them and when they do they slow you down.
Also no the old Steel pots don't provide the same level of protection as Kevlar, which is why we use Kevlar and not steel.
Will there be any major difference in comfortability with these two? I'm absolutely torn between them for every day carry regardless of attire.
I like the idea that the 43 is slightly slimmer, but is the difference neglible? I like the idea of having a 10+1 vs a 6+1.
>>29321544
I'm definitely picking up a Glock 43 before the summer for the days it's too hot to carry my P239. I feel like I could just carry my Glock 19 on the days when I would probably be carrying a 26.
>>29321544
IMO if you can conceal a 26 you can probably conceal a 19. Doesn't seem like a big difference but the thinness of the 43 makes it really easy to conceal. Grab some mag extendos and you can get 7+1 or 8+1 and you've pretty much got 26 capacity.
>>29321578
>>29321591
I've heard a few others say the same. "If you could a 26 you could a XYZ" But I'm worried these little differences add up in being comfortable carry it everyday. I'm not so sure I'm willing to go bigger than a 26.
But yeah, maybe the +2's for the glock 43 would be a good compromise.
I was thinking of getting some body armor but I've heard that ceramic plates are extremely fragile if bumped or dropped and break apart after a shot or two.
Is this true? Does anyone have any experiences with them?
If they are that fragile then how do soldiers manage to go prone or do anything without breaking their plates?
If you buy shitty proprietary Level IIIs probably. I've had my IVs, for 2 years of army field life and stuff. They are fine, no broken pieces etc
>ceramic only takes a couple hits
Maybe in the same spot. No one is that accurate anyway for the argument to be relevant. If you are taking multiple rounds you will catch one somewhere else anyway. The idea is to protect vitals like lungs and heart, which are more vulnerable then the other parts of the torso.
>>29321509
In addition they aren't your mom's dinner plates they aren't that fragile. I've smacked mine around a lot.
>>29321509
Oh that's good then.
I didn't really want to spend a small fortune on level IVs to just have them break apart because they got bumped
