How do I get hold of military drone batteries? I want to make a hoverboard that lasts for longer than 60 seconds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5ii5BWBLVI
I think that guy is using 14 Ah hobby store batteries and the absolute best that I can find on the commercial market is 24 Ah, 22.2 V lithium-polymer batteries on special order from China. I just know the military has some 100 Ah shit, how do I get it?

Let me put it to you like I do the mech fans
>more weight added
>more energy need to make it move
>more space needed for energy
>more weight added
>can you see where this is going
The military designs things to be used for a specific purpose. The batteries you want are designed to fit on small planes, where the battery meets the design...

>How do I get hold of military drone batteries?
...You mean a gas engine? Go get a weedwhacker off craigslist.
The only batteries the military has that perform significantly better than civilian batteries are the Silver-Zinc batteries that they use in missiles and such, but those aren't rechargeable. Aside from that, they're using the same Li-ion, Ni-Cd and Pb-acid batteries we use for everything.
>>29324054
"Military drone batteries" are essentially a fairly large and expensive UPS. You aren't going to fit that shit on a personal vehicle.
When are you going to ditch your .25 ACP and adopt the powerful .32 ACP? With "a delivery like a brick through a plate glass window."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P26470lZB_U
Was .25 ACP the 9mm of the old days?
>>29317873
more like the 5.45 of it's day. Ak74 fags be warned
>time when gentlemen would carry guns in their pockets
>>29317873
Yes. Provided you don't know anything about history or firearms it definitely was the 9mm of the day.
Hey /k/, I've seen lots of really bulky guns in fiction like XCOM that are supposed to look futuristic, but could there actually be some merit to this? Specifically, will it be a necessity in the near future to consider the radar cross section or thermal signature of small arms or personal equipment? Could this technology be developed enough that bulky equipment with stealth or radar shielding would be necessary, or is my guess totally inaccurate?
bunp
>>29332047
Bulky weaponry and body armor for stealth just seems impractical desu senpai
>>29332136
You mean that the added bulk wouldn't have a benefit even if it meant increased stealth?
So /k/ i have a pretty dumb question but cant really seem to get a straight answer for.
Why doesnt the U.S. military use supressors regularly for infantry? I mean yeah i know it doesnt make it noiseless but im sure it would help them stay unlocated if they are a good distance away but more than that wouldnt it help prevent soldiers from getting hearing damage?
>>29331662
because earplugs exist
Because usually you have to use special ammo for suppressors that contains a weaker gunpowder charge. Weaker powder means less range, accuracy, speed, and general lethality. You sacrifice all the good parts of your weapon so you can sneak up on the enemy and eliminate them up close where the aforementioned cons don't really matter that much.
>>29331693
What a crock. Subsonics are only to get rid of the crack, using a can with m885 will still bring the sound to earpro-not-needed levels.
I know this is /k/'s least favorite thread, but have a twist:
Looking to get my first, but I have real small hands. Like really small. Small for a woman small. You could get about 4 quarters on my palm.
I would probably defer to something cheap and available like a beretta 9mm (whatever specific model is adopted by police, i know they're cheap in my state) but I've played with them at the range and it's a bit of a fuckin stretch for my hand to grip
Post your hands

Not American. And he should take that fucking flag patch off his blouse.
assuming that he's ex military, and correct me if I'm wrong, the maroon beret could indicate that he is or used to be air force
can anyone identify any of the insgnia?
>>29330991
how can you tell?
How realistic is Apocalypse Now in showing lack of discipline & drop of morale in some of American military camps in Vietnam?
I can't believe it could take place, but than again I did read about heavy drug use in some camps, so maybe, in some desolated, neglected camps?
Also, it's not possible to carry a PBR using a Huey, like they did in the movie, is it?
From what I found, Huey's max lift was 2 tonnes, and PBR's ware about 8 tonnes.
Cheerio.
Bmupm.
>>29330754
> how realistic is this Hollywood film?
the answer is in the question
>>29331025
Some are less some are more, and some ware pretty realistic.
Post your leet gear setups and maybe a backstory for how it runs. Mine is pretty basic but I feel it is a good start for inna (insert location) ops.

Nice loadout OP. Curious, what kind of barrel shroud is that? I have been looking for one myself but wasn't sure who makes a good one.

Anyone know where I can pick up some DU or hardened steel core .308 ammo? I've worked out i'd need about 200 rounds for my M1A in order for my hunt to go well.
>>29328266
those kids at your school are actually pretty nice. you should be less of a faggot and they will probably stop making fun of you.
>>29328291
What are you talking about?
>>29328371
OP is obviously planning a shooting, and a school seems an obvious target considering what he's looking for.
I got this rifle last winter, and have yet to shoot it past 50yrds until yesterday with some friends and none of us could get anything on paper at 100-200. We where shooting Tula and thought that the ammo may have been this issue, but I tried some Golden Tiger with the same results. So I was cleaning the rifle, and took the break off to take a look at the crow and saw pick related. I am worried that this is messed up. What do you lads thing the crown looks fucked.
>>29326958
pretty much every AK74 I've seen gets that shit. It's because of the muzzle brake.
You can knock it off, but it doesn't seem to affect accuracy at all.
>>29326958
its carbon build up everygun will do this just clean it off
this is why permanently attached flashiders to get your gun to 16 inches is a stupid idea
>>29326958
Bore light, check the state of the barrel. If the inside looks alright then you will probably need to get it recrowned which shouldn't be so hard
I would do as detailed a takedown as you're comfortable with and look for any more rusting or other damage.
What is a good Gas Mask that yall recomend?
leaning towards a Avon FM50, but I am willing to take others into opinion
has to protect against NBC
>>29326899
http://www.thecrimsoncaravan.com/store/p59/GP-5_Russian_Gas_Mask_.html
cheap, decent (for the price) and the filters are like $4.00 on Ebay and protects against NBC
>>29326946
is the GP-5 even effective?
>>29327062
I have one, but have not tested it with anything. It makes a hell of a seal, the first time I put on the filtre I forgot about the bottom plug and nearly suffocated. I would call that a good seal. The filtre removed all smell from the air, or it is just that the smell of Soviet surplus was too overpowering. If I take a second to adjust it having two eyepieces isn't so bad. It fits really well, shockingly doesn't rip your hair out assuming that you have a haircut approved by comrade Stalin. Fogs up easily,...

Hey /k/ I'm legally able to purchase a gun now and not sure what to get
The max I can afford is $800
M1 Garand from the CMP
>>29326583
/thread
Depends on age/state restrictions
21+ (can buy a pistol). Get a handgun they're cheaper than rifles and ammunition is also cheaper. I'd recommend 9mm as you can get 1,000 rounds for around 200 bucks. It also gives you the option to carry concealed.
Pistols I'd recommend: Lionheart LH9, TP9 SA, Berretta 92A1 Compact, CZ-75, Sig Sauer P226, and Glock 19.
If you're dead set on a rifle get a WASR-10 best budget AK and AK ammo is super cheap.

Rimfire .22, won't they explode if i press them too hard against each other?
