If somebody wanted to teach themselves how to become a capable military commander, what would be the best way to go about it?
Please note, when I say commander, I mean someone who can plan campaigns, has a strong grasp of logistics and supply chains, is skilled in both tactical and strategical thinking, and preferably have an understanding of basic statecraft.
I have been largely focusing on contemporary Guerilla leaders such as Võ Nguyên Giáp. I also have been delving into the histories of Caesar, Guderian, Alexander, Subotoi, and anyone else who strikes my...

Play Hearts of Autism 3 for seriously epic micromanagement of armies, economic policy and political outcomes.
Read Clausewitz.
If guerilla stuff floats your boat, read Mao, he literally wrote the book on it.
I'd love to know this too, anyone care to add their advice?

>be rich
>be son of a rich guy
Name and tripfags back, anons BTFO lol fucking losers
I'm just glad that asstastic layout is gone.
>>29465143
Honestly they could've done a better job making it Google+esqe to get all the kids yelling about selling out and shit but I think it was kinda fun. Gonna miss the "+(you) this" though
>>29465135
I wish they would have kept the names.
It was pretty fucking funny after awhile.
so if a country like the USA/Russia invades a small irrelevant country like Congo or Haiti, will anyone stop the USA/Russia.
I know invading another country is illegal but who's going to stop them.
They can even use nukes on those countries without any consequences
>>29464896
>invading another country is illegal
What.
>>29464901
Geneva convention m8
>>29464913
A. It's not illegal under Geneva.
B. "Law" doesn't matter. It's all about how you look to the world.
For example, the US looked pretty good in Iraq. US did not look good in Grenada.
Lockheed Martin has unveiled a box launcher (same dimensions near about as the Harpoon Mk 141 launcher) for the AGM-158C LRASM, offering an alternative to vertically launched ones from the Mk 41 VLS.
Harpoon, Exocet, Otomat and NSM get out the way, the real king is here. Should put these on the LCS too.

Would be nice to also eventually refit the Arleigh Burkes/Ticonderogas with these.

And time for presentation to actual operative stage is, what? 20 years?
And how much will the cost balloon?
Would you consider special forces to be modern Knights
You have to be 18 to use this site, bud.
Knights weren't some supersoldier, they were just rich landowners that ruled over some peasants.
So your avarage mall shopper
>>29464420
None.
Our current centralized government, military bureaucracy and industry means soldiers do not have to be supported by feudal system and buy their own military equipment.
I Just picked up a Remington SPS Tactical AAC-SD built by my local Sportmans Warehouse gunsmith what are you experinces with these beauitful rifles?
>>29464328
You dun fucked up.
They're absolute shit
>>29464328
I have a 700 police I got later last year. Love it. Remingtons get a lot of hate because of the shitter stocks and triggers. The HS precision stock and 40x trigger make it a pleasure to shoot.
This was trying different loads, so poi was off point of aim.
Thinking about future warfare with giant robots. Leaving aside the issues with mechs themselves, how should they be organized and deployed at the small unit level?
Talking battletech or heavy gear here, not magical weeaboo shit
>>29464161
You honestly have a long way until giant robot mechs op, humanoid robots can barely stand up today. You're better off putting your investments into real military combat robots. This is coming from a mechanical engineer
>>29464220
Also in almost any case (according to analysis of the actual lore) a tank would be a cheaper, more effective option.
I feel like they would need to be deployed in rather large groups , unlike what the show in Mecha programs and battletech universe I think each individual mech "soldier" would have only one serious weapon system since the propulsion and power system would take up so much of its physical form.
They'd be grouped like naval battle groups, I think, long range (artillery?) strikers protected by fast mobile close range (plasma sword?) mechs , missiliers in the middle, etc. I doubt one on one or small team combat is realistic especially given the cost the mechs...

Alright /k/, I've decided to make my summer project gun an AR pistol with home defense in mind. Below is an abbreviated list of significant components, thoughts?
Lower: forged
Upper: forged
BCG: TiNi or NiBr
Barrel: Daniels Defense 11.5 in, carbine length gas sytem.
Gas Block: PRI low profile aluminium block
Charging handle: AXTS ambi charging handle
Buffer: pistol tube with a heavy buffer and LAW tactical folding stock adapter (gen 3)
Handguard: Troy alpha rail (9 in)
Pistol Grip: MFT Engage, or Magpul K2
Trigger Group: Fostech Echo...

Get the Shockwave blade brace instead, it's better.
Don't get the Troy rail either, Troy is shit.
Also, the binary trigger is a meme and not practical.
>>29463886
Seems like the SBX because it offers a larger footprint on the butt would offer better recoil distribution, what makes the blade brace better?
I'm cannibalizing the alpha rail from another rifle so it's a free component, may as well use it, right?
Is there a better ambi bolt assist device out there? the troy seems to inspire more confidence than a magpul BAD because it's aluminium instead of plastic.
>>29463910
Their ambi device is fine and if you already have the rail that's okay. Troy are a bunch of statists, and shouldn't really be supported if you can avoid it. The Shockwave brace is more rigid which makes it function better as an "illegal SBR" but both are alright.
Looking for a ranch rifle but I want something more versatile than a .22, so I'm leaning more towards a .223 or .30 carbine. I've heard that Mini-14s are unreliable, and I've heard that .30 sucks. I don't have much experience with either other than fingerfucking them at LGS, but they're both super comfy. Thoughts, /k/?
>>29463295
Mini 14 is a fucking sewing machine. If you've heard theyre unreliable it's from ar15 fanboys who have never owned on much less used a rifle outside of a range.
The mini14 does leave some things to be desired, but reliability is not one of them.
whats with the names?
>>29463392
*owned one
I currently carry a 75BD but I'm looking for a smaller carry option.
Requirements
1. Single stack between 6-8 round capacity
2. All metal construction
3. DA/SA
Does such a thing exist?
Bump
Beretta model 85... if your cool with a .380
So a Sig P220, P225/P6 or P239 if you want something readily available.
S&W 39-2 or various 3rd gens
Kahr has some but they aren't DA/SA
Could probably think of more, but realistically you're looking for Sigs.
What will be war like after the inevitable apocalypse during your lifetime?
>>29462857
A buncha faggots shooting each other with guns most likely.
>>29462860
With what?
>>29462857
Well Luke, it will be over very fast and all the drawn out battles will be during the rebuilding and restructuring of society.
I know the whole "le zombie" thing is annoying but I need to understand how people can suspend their disbelief like this
Slow moviing dead people are not hard to counter. A WW1 platoon could wipe them out. A fucking SWAT team could kill a large swathe of them.
Light&heavy machine gun emplacements, laser guided munitions, fully automatic SMG/ARs/HGs, helicopter air support, cluster bombs, barricades, etc
If such a virus did break out and it was only spread through body fluid it'd be so easy to counter it'd be laughable.
>>29462551
Read Black Tide Rising if you enjoy the zombie apocalypse but find it in general full of implausibility. John Ringo makes it plausible and entertaining.
Otherwise, completely agree, even if this is perhaps not the right forum for this particular post.
>>29462579
>>29462551
to be honest f a m "zombies" is literally code word for "nigger-riots"
>>29462650
is that right...
How this image makes you feel /k/?
>>29462515
Nostalgic.
Whys the fuck should I care?
Feels like no good subs

He was cool until he got caught.

Why was he cool?

Eh, snipes cops, wears surplus, and doesn't afraid of anything
I'm a teenager and I was going to get my hunting license a couple years back, but didn't get it because a lot of stuff came up and I was busy. I don't want to do it just to put food on our table, now i see it as a waste of time since we can just buy food, and it would be faster. I have a Barnett Recruit, a rifle, and a bow that I haven't used in awhile. Is there any way I can get paid for hunting any type of animal?
>>29462093
You could go poaching in Africa. Alternatively, you could grow up and stop feeling the urge to kill things without good cause.
>>29462154
Andres, I really dislike the tone of your post. There is no need to be so condescending.
>>29462179
Kelly, you should try finding if there's farmers in your area that need hogs cleared from their land, or rabbits.
