How effective are these for self-defense?
What are some things to know about them?
A little background:
Up here in Canada, we're not allowed to have hardly anything for self-defense purposes (not even mace, a small knife, etc). If you use a "controlled weapon" and end up hurting/killing someone who just tried to rob you, you'll be charged.
But there is a loophole where you can have a baton as long as it isn't spring-action (i.e. they're allowed if they're extended with a flick of the wrist, but not by a button).
I...

Not much to say its just a modern stick that you can beat people with. If it's all you can have than roll with it

>Be CIA paramilitary officer
>Stationed in Afghanistan at a POW camp holding Taliban and Al'Qaeda fighter
>Suddenly prison revolt
>Get overrun by a huge group of prisoners
>Still manage to take out 7 of them with a pistol before they kill you
Pretty badass way to go desu
All the ones you don't know about did it right. The ones who used their intelligence to carve out their own financial successes after their service which allowed them to melt into the neighborhoods around you and me without feeling the need to stand on a pedestal and boast their exaggerated exploits.

Did you finish the job?
>There are people on /k/ RIGHT NOW who think that the military does false-flags as an excuse to start more wars
OH yes, dying or getting horribly maimed in buttfuckistan is going to make soooo many people rich and powerful. More like publicly humiliated for making stupid decisions.
So the military-industrial complex wouldnt benefit from such things? Not saying your right or wrong, but surley war is big business for lots of sectors, and new politicians will always need campaign contributions

I'd explain but it'd take way too long and you still wouldn't believe it.
So here is my dilemma, I've been considering a Remington 870 or Mossberg 590 for a while now and I've decided to go with an 870. My only problem is they don't sell exactly what I'm looking for (as far as I know). I'd like wood furniture, a short(ish) barrel with changeable chokes, large capacity and high quality internals . Do you think I'd be better off getting a Wingmaster and buying a new barrel + adding a mag extension or getting a Express Tactical and getting wood furniture for it. Keep in mind although the cost is a lot higher on the Wingmaster...

Wingmasters are vastly superior to the Express/Cheap 870s in fit, finish and feel.
I personally love my Wingmaster for sporting purposes, but I prefer my Mossbeg 590A1 for defense. The reason is that the shell elevator on 870s leaves no space to push a shell back in if you get one of the "1 1/2 feeds" where the bolt is half open with one shell while another is blocking the elevator from lifting and the bolt from moving either direction. It happens in 870s every so often, and I've probably had...

Here's the 870 elevator.....
You have 5 seconds to explain why you haven't bought a .460 Rowland drop-in conversion, which would allow your shitty $400 Filipino 1911 to fire an expensive proprietary cartridge with roughly the same power as a .44Mag.
>>29744552
Too bad AMT Hardballers are kind of crappy. a 7" longslide 1911 in .460 Rowland would be sexy.

I'm getting a shotgun this summer for home defense. The Winchester 1300 seems like a decent choice but I wanted a second opinion.

disgusting.
Even in your situation, you could just keep a trigger-locked shotty under your bed, with couple shells on it / in the nightstand.
Are there any armies with official kickass songs?

Absolutely. He Cucked the Brits hardcore.
The problem was they couldn't transfer troops fast enough. They didn't have Humvees.
Then like the great Cincinnatus of Rome he laid down his power to enjoy the American Nation he created.
America? Fuck yeah. All other Nations BTFO. You are allowed to be our Ally, but you know who Big Daddy is.
How many of you own plate carriers, and what models if so? I'm looking into buying one, and would like some input.
>>29743937
I own IBA, an armor-carrier in other words. Slapped LV4 plates in it.
Does that count?
Skd pig plate carrier. Top of the line, baby!
Some Condor carrier. Got it for $36 and for what I paid for it, I'm satisfied. I don't use it much though because I only have one plate right now.

I dont doubt that when its finished, the F 35 will be everything that has been promised.
But considering the cost, is this not a case of corruption going too far?
Can anyone honestly say the massive cost overrun isnt a result of corruption?
>>29743528
Do you know what the price of a F-16 was supposed to be, and what it actually ended up being?
It's a mix of inflation, currency differences and most importantly, feature creep.
>>29743544
You mean am i aware that corruption may have occured previously too?
Of course,
Its not...its just the acquisitions process gone awry. The Department of Defense hasnt been very good at producing things for a while. (see Comanche, Crusader, FCS, GCS, uniforms... would encourage you to read about it if you care about how bureaucracies work)
What happened with the F35 was kind of 3 things. First, its a very complicated aircraft that required a lot of technology to be created in order for it to function. From a defense economics perspective you can use a platform to advance your level of technical competence, but on the flip side you end up having a lot...

Any Ausfags around to talk about the NFA review coming up? Hanging to get my licence and pta back so I can go and get a gun. What are we expecting to change?
At the very least, I'm expecting lever-action shotguns to get reclassified to cat C or otherwise. What sort of gun were you looking at?
>>29743506
Nothing of note
>>29743523
Starting off with a .22lr then was hoping to get a lever action 12ga. First time getting a licence so I don't want soend money for it to be banned
Why don't you own a P228? Go on, tell me. Let's hear that stupid ass excuse you have.

because i want capacity and lightweight
I already own a metal framed compact handgun of my choosing, and I personally prefer it to a Sig frame.

How do people not just get BTFO when stacking up and breaching/clearing a room?
When you watch training videos or simullations online, they all seem to be moving in slow motion- how does an entire team realistically pass through the fatal funnel unscathed? Even with grenades and flash bangs, what is stopping a barricaded individual from 360 no scoping everything in the room?
Not bait... am genuinely curious how this works
>>29743049
Generally the first guy through is bait. Called 'running the rabbit', your second man is going to be the person neutrising a threat. This is perfect world but generally the first guy is expecting to take a hit. With EO (grenades/9 bangs)etc at pretty much all levels it can assist.
Also when outdoors remember that you're generally going to have SBF suppressing apertures etc.

By clearing rooms quickly.

Thanks to whoever recommended this, really light and immersing read, well written too. No excessive information or dumb exposition.
