/k/ how real is that fight ?
https://youtu.be/UGkl_JVvoLw
is this really how fights looked then? or is it the same as boxing vs real life fight ?
>>29766181
I don't think scholars have reached an agreement on what real combat was like.
I imagine that the grappling might be somewhat similar but if I had to guess in real combat it was probably a lot more attempts at stabbing and knocking down and executing rather than whacking armored plate with a sword.
>>29766181
these guys are terrible
and I say that from the perspective of a guy who's never practiced nor researched anything beyond my friends and I beating each other with sticks
>>29766220
yeah, ive been talking to a friend who is deep into reenactment thing and he said that "no kill" tournaments looked pretty much like this.
but in real fight with sharp and pointy swords there was in fact more stabbing. and also once you are down its usually over.
was wondering if anyone could confirm it.
I just binge watched several lectures by John Nagl and others who studied the conflicts from the past decade and a half. However, I didn't really get any satisfying information out of these lectures as these guys mostly talk about what mistakes were made by the different administrations and generally politics behind certain decisions in Iraq/Afghanistan . So my question is, do you guys know any literature, online lectures, online sources on the subject of counter-insurgency and lectures learned in the Middle East in these past years on an operational level?

"Militant Tricks: Battlefield Ruses of the Islamic Insurgent" by H. John Poole
The author gives examples of tactics/strategies used by the insurgents against the coalition in Afghanistan/Iraq.
Bolt action rifles
>can use pointed ammo
>a very simple, failproof action
>a rotating bolt is inherently strong
>can buy more mags for quick reloading
>free floating barrel gives accuracy advantage over semi autos
>very cheap
>easy cleaning
>almost no maintenance required
>can handle any grain...

You can fire prone, it just hurts your wrist to twist that way

Not mine, but my grandpa has a concieled carry philosophy.
He carries at least 5 guns on him, 3 of which are glock 17s. His idea is to spray as many bullets at the attacker/attackers until something hits. He carries at least 4 mags for them too.
He calls it the wall of lead technique.

>when you absolutely positively got to to shoot every friend in the room, accept no substitutes.
Why does it matter the incredibly specific gun you use, doesn't any old decent gun get the job done?
no

that's why there are different guns

there are different types of straws and they all do literally the same thing
A pistol's fine for a 400 metre shot right
I hear that masterpiece arms ingrams actually have pretty nice light triggers now, and I can't think of anything that can mount the suppressor any further back than that.
Talk me into/out of getting one as a home defense SBR with a full size 9mm supressor on it.
>>29765375
>I can't think of anything that can mount the suppressor any further back than that.
What did he mean by this
>>29765497
He wants as compact of a package with a supressed SBR
thats your best choice unless you want to put a stock on an actual pistol like a glock
The only Ingham you'll ever need is right here
Hi /k/lowns.
just found this in the local hock shop.
My guess is that its a mass produced 'antique' from India.
Anyone know anything thing else about it ?
Im going to give it to me ol mum
She is into kooky old 'oriental' collectibles
It was $10
So I think it was a good buy

Doesn't look like it's actual pattern welded steel judging by this picture
Stick it on display somewhere that doesn't show this side of the blade, I can't imagine that it'll be too good as a knife
Nuke Thread? Nuke Thread.
A few threads a ago OPpenheimer posted a list of book on nuclear strategy, and if anyone has a copy of it, it would be appreciated.

Hi /k/, I have a question about this used vest I bought.
There's this strap-buckle thing here that doesn't seem to fit to anything else.
1/3
2/3
But, there are these wrapped-up straps on the shoulders that, similarly, don't seem to go anywhere
3/3
So I put 2 and potato together and decided that they must go together, but this seems wrong.
(pic horizontally flipped for consistency)
What is that strap-buckle thing for?
Bump
Whats up /k/
I bought my first AK today. I got a RAS47. I put 100 rounds through it after I got it home, cleaned it, and mobbed to the woods.
What should I do now? I want to stain the furniture dark green. Anyone have tips about how to do that?
>>29764810
Trade it in for a WASR10 or sell it and save up for an Arsenal, or hold off and hope that century learns their lesson and fixes them. I had very high hopes for the RAS and C39 only to be shot down :(
>>29764834
I researched it and it seemed like it was basically the same as a wasr only made in america. I saw a youtube where it held up pretty well after a 5k round torture test. I take really good care of my rifles so I figured it would be a good starter ak for the next few years til i get more money and stop being such a poorfag.
>>29764810
/k/ likes to shit all over the ras47 for the cast trunnions and bolt carrier. I'll admit that the wasr is better, but you won't notice the difference until at least a few thousand rounds in, and I doubt you'll shoot that many. From my limited experience, it's a good, accurate rifle.
Hi /k/
I'm a Lieutenant on the Brazilian Army. 3.ª Army Division; 6.ª Armored Infantry Brigade.
Basically i get to scratch my balls all day everyday and eventually do some training on one of the Leopards 1A5
pic related, it's the toy i get to play with.

Driving home at night, made a wrong turn in an unfamiliar area. Got my car stuck on some weird train tracks, cops come and I'm outside my vehicle assuming they're going to help. They decide I look like I've been drinking, took my USPC45 I was carrying, toss me in the can. Months later they finally get the video up, and I don't look drunk or speak slurred in any manner. Case dismissed, got gun back.
