What can /k/ tell me about the English Electric Lightning? Was it based, or shit?
>>29784074
It was a good point defense interceptor.
But PD interceptors were quickly obsolete.
I give her a 7/10, would be fast as balls with again.
>>29784272
Is it true that it probably had the best climb rate of any jet?
>>29784379
The only NATO jet that ever managed to intercept Concorde.
Hey /k/ I just picked up this old shotgun from a local shop for $125. I probably overpaid but I was looking for a project gun to have some fun with and try to fix up. I read online that this thing is probably from around the turn of the century, its a "Chicago Long Range Wonder". Does anyone know what ammo is safe to shoot out of this thing? I've seen here several times that it isn't safe to shoot modern shotgun ammo out of older shotguns like this one. Also the stock is damaged, someone down the line taped it up to hold it together, I removed the tape and...

Here's the damage pre tape removal

Even if it is a little beat up, that gun has some good ol' rustic charm.
>>29784065
>Chicago Long Range Wonder was a trade name used on shotguns made for Sears, Roebuck and Company of Chicago, IL and made by Andrew Fyrberg and Sons in the period 1899-1905.
>These shotgun s had Damascus or Twist Steel barrels which are not considered safe to use with modern ammunition.

It *might* be okay with low base loads. Quiz your local gunsmith.
Hey all, got out of Ranger school around a month ago and figured it would make for a good thread. A lot of advice and stuff that helped me out there I found online beforehand, looking to answer any questions about any type of train up, workouts, mentality, gear, or even just any military questions.
please no debates over different branches, other nonse
>>29784021
How does it feel to be as well trained as an 0311 now?
>>29784031
Why do you even feel its necessary to post this garbage.
What were the other candidates like?
What are you like?
Was it all shitty braggarts or were y'all older people?

I had a grandpa who was a LRRP team leader. He doesnt talk in detail about any of his missions, just tells some of the more general things like how they operated and slept, and what happened when they made contact. He got show during extraction which ended his military career.

Pic related is the only pic I have ever seen of my grandpa in country.

Why did the US not invent guided bombs like Fritz-X? If the USN had B-17s dropping guided bombs, the Pacific would've been won before the war even started.
>>29783762
because the Japanese would then realized they they needed guided missiles and we would have lost more bombers in the long run
>>29783762
But they did
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azon
>>29783762
The technology and the drive to develop guided bombs wasn't there before WW2. Plus the US didn't mind bombing the shit out of cities full of women and children to make a point.
Guys, I think Obama has finally come up with a gun law /k/ can support.
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/30/us/politics/obama-puts-his-weight-behind-smart-gun-technology.html
>Eventually, all federal agents would be mandated to use biometric smart guns in the line of duty to ensure that smart gun manufacturers have a steady customer base from which to develop the technology.
>>29783759
No. It will just come around to the civilian population.
>>29783768
>No. It will just come around to the civilian population.
This, of it works on a federal level then they will make it mandatory for civilians.
>>29783759
>feds leo guns get hacked by david fry tier hackers and overrun by hordes of pissed off militia after being turned into noguns
>obama and the rest of his suicidal antigunner supports are all lunched by an angry mob of both militia progunners and now pissed off and defected LEOs who just got gun controlled.
A bridge too far.
The Springfield was the first bolt action rifle in the world
>>29783626
first bolt action SERVICE rifle.
learn to read cucknugget
>>29783626
It says service rifle. Learn to read.
It's still wrong, but slightly less so.
>>29783642
>>29783648
But it wasn't anywhere near the first service rifle either. Bolt action rifles were present in military service for half a century before the Springfield came along.
The body of the Russian Soldier who called an airstrike on himself has been recovered
>Tass news agency said special forces Snr Lt Alexander Prokhorenko was posthumously awarded the Hero of Russia medal by President Vladimir Putin.
>He died after calling in a Russian air strike to hit IS fighters who had surrounded him, Russian media reported.
>According to the Russian government daily Rossiiskaya Gazeta, Prokhorenko directed a Russian air strike on IS after telling his commander...

He rests eternally in heaven alongside Yevgeny Rodionov
So I live in the state of Maryland. They have ridiculously stupid AR laws. I have looked at the GII Recon, but I think I am going to get this as my first gun. I am 5'7'' so this gun won't be too small for me.
Do you think this is a bad call for a first rifle? Keep in mind, Maryland, dumbest gun laws in the country.
>>29783510
Do yourself a favor and get a lever-action or Muzzle Loader if you intend to stay in Maryland. You can actually buy some fun building kits for Black Powder rifles and unless black powder is banned your firearm will always be legal because it only uses one round. On the other hand Lever-actions, especially tubed ones, tend to get around a lot of gun laws.
A better option is to move.
>>29783510
What the fuck is with that stupidly long barrel?
>>29783510
Come to PA my brother in arms. We love people like you. As long as you vote for people with R next to their name.
I was selling a P99AS and the guy is offering a trade for 1 of his guns is a 92A1, USP or a P30LS.
Which one is more durable and reliable? I have to make up my mind before tomorrow but Im not even sure if they guy is stupid.
>>29783452
I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure I'm in love.
>>29783452
What caliber is the USP? If it's .45 or 9mm i'd go with USP, they can't be beat
>>29783452
The P30 series is supposedly the latest and greatest from H&K...
As for the 92a1, I wouldnt go for it. Heard too many complaints about it. Regardless, you're trading in a Walther for an H&K. Its a helluva upgrade
What are the chances of joining the US Army or Marines with a GED...?
Go to a recruiter and ask
>>29783396
Dunno about the Army, but the Marines would be a zero percent chance.
They don't like having someone smarter than them around.
>>29783396
Low. It's possible but they prefer people to have their high school diploma, you need to get a higher asvab to get in as well. You're chances are better if you take a full semester of college courses.
Were there any real combat between NATO and soviet jets ?
I'm only talking about 2 jets engaging each other not two squadrons .
I heard that a incident like that between one Libyan mig and one Italian f16 happened
>>29783392
Yes.
No, shit like that would've triggered WW. If Turkey shot down that russian jet 30 years ago it would've caused a war.
>>29783392
Pretty much constantly, just not necessarily between actual NATO or Warsaw Pact member states. Israel was one of the first to get F-15s and curbstomped Russian-made fighters with them, for instance.
Hi /k/ onegunz here (shitty mosin). What is the best revolver for entry level? I really want a single action of some sort, preferably 45lc. Help. I have a rough rider on the way, just to learn how to use a single action system. I really want a 45lc tho. Do what's the best? Preferably under 300$. Is pic related good?
>>29783384
No advice on topic but I will say get a 357, its going to be more versatile and cheaper to shoot with 38spec
>>29783384
The pattern on the pic is shitty for a case hardened skin, wouldn't even give 10 keys for it.
>>29783384
Ruger New Vaquero. I think they're like $500+, but they're great guns. I have one in .45 ACP and it's the tits.
you white people better BACK THE FUCK UP
>>29783374
Why? I'd just hit a wall, and its not like I have anything against ice T.

Can somebody in MS take me shooting? I dont own any guns but I would like to learn.
I have a hard time believing you live in Mississippi and don't know a single gun owner
>>29783337
Im a shutin shy girly guy in MS. I dont know anyone besides my parents.

You're on 4chan mate. I know /k/ is a normalfag board, but there's a lot of unsocial people with zero friends on this site.
