Selling my S&W 29 for $800 to my local gun store because I'm in the market for a 1911. The 29 is fucking legit but impractical. So I'm almost 100% sold on a SR1911 Commander. Not the aluminum frame. Going for all steel. Am I making the right decision? Is there something close in price that I should be looking at instead?
Also general 1911 thread
the Rugers go for significantly less than 800, but i'm sure you know that. in their price range they are one of the better made options. made in America and have a good after sale service.
for 800 your choices open up some. and it really matters what kinda options you find important in a 1911 to really home in on an exact gun. (like more modern parts or classic parts) i myself would look at Springfield, Colt, CZ, and indeed Ruger. however i'm sure some anon will come riding in here waving his Rock Island boner. i personally think you could do better, after all...

are shemaghs/keffiyehs tacticool memes, or are they actually useful?
We talk about things we want changed on /k/. I will start

What is the age and model of this saber?
Do any of you guys receive battlboxes or something similar?
Trying to find out if a subscription is worth the money.
Haha idk it seems like a good deal if you don't know what you're buying when it comes to medkits, emp-related shit, etc..
Plus, the price you pay is less than the added msrp value of the things inside the box.
Seems alright to me
Of course it's not worth the money. They send you one mediocre thing that you did not choose and a fistful of cheap promo garbage. Just buy yourself one nice thing every month if you insist on being a manchild that squeals in delight whenever the UPS man delivers your latest impulse buy.
Who makes really good operator packs? What is a reasonable sized bag I should get for /k/ related proposes, like in a SHTF type scenario or a short term bug out?
Should I spend the money on Mystery Ranch or Arc'teryx, or are these just all memes?
goruck gr2(3day pack) or gr1(assault pack), mystery ranch sweet pea(3day pack), direct action ghost(3day pack) or dragon egg(assault pack).
assault packs are about the size of a standard jansport backpack or for reference a us army assault pack.
3 day packs are slightly larger. Slightly too big to be carrying around school or office job everyday, too small to carry enough shit for a week long camping trip(you could, but would require excellent organization skills).
In terms of which company to go with....
Goruck has the best overall warranty and customer service, and the packs are nearly indestructable since they build them thick. If you ever tear or break the damn bag, they will fix it free, minus the shipping fee to them.
Direct action, makes good quality bags with a great selection of colors. They are the lightest bags of these 3 companies. They actually give a decent description of what the bags were built for. These are also cheaper than both other companies. This is a fairly new company, so they still focus on quality, with brand new packs having not a stitch or thread out of place.
Mystery ranch makes the most comfortable packs, period. They have perfected back and shoulder comfort for backpacking. Now, the negatives....warranty is non existant, if you break something, they take their sweet time getting the bag back to you, and charge you an outrageous repair fee. If you are going to go with Mystery ranch, stick with the civilian oriented packs, the military packs are too cluttered and not worth it for the extra molle and pricepoint. An example of clutter would be, to toss a sweatshirt into the 3 day assault pack requires the opening of not just the top flap, but most of the main zipper that runs down the pack. The internal pockets found in the trizip military packs are flimsy and get in the way of top loading most things.
Hopefully this info helps.
/oil general thread,Lubricity edition
What is the best gun oil and why is it lucas.
OK, color me stupid.
Just got my first prebuilt AR-15 with iron sights mounted just like on pic related. I'm looking at a target 30' away, and the small hole is bigger than the whole freaking target, no way this can be right. I can only guess where to shoot and getting about 3" spread at this distance, I'd call it pathetic.
What am I doing wrong? Should I be moving the rear sight forward?
Hey guys, I'm having some issues.
I have about $1500-1600 to spend on an O/U and I've always wanted to get into the trap/skeet scene. I'm no shotgun expert, I'd just like to be able to take my father out shooting with a nice shotgun. He introduced me to shooting as a kid with an old .410 Mossberg - and I'm looking for an upgrade.
I've been googling all day and I've come across the Ruger Red Label.. is this a viable option? It seems like they're excellent quality firearms but ridiculously hard to find. Can you guys suggest...

post your innawoods as if you were going back in time during the crusades
discuss gear for asymetric warfare to stop a knight
I've always been fascinated by the gap between modern army/police equipment and the need to stop an agressor with inferior gear. And by stopping I mean kill, because the police has to arrest without killing and now armies are build under the doctrine of wounding the enemy more. Also, police (riot patrol) are better equiped when it come to protection against an inferior enemy.
Worth it to buy this and install the apex trigger? Or too much work for not much gain?
Want a $300 gun with great trigger out of the box? Get a PPX
So the Canadian Neutrino experiment at SNO (Sudbury Neutrino Observatory) went live. It was originally meant to study our sun but as an unintended consequence when they switched it on they got the positions of all nuclear reactors on earth. The reactors produce neutrinos and neutrinos don't interact with matter and travel in a straight line straight to the detector. So now all superpowers are building this type of detection equipment. What does this mean for the world's nuclear submarine fleets?
Whats up /k/, /tv/ visitor here. Question; So I'm watching the Blairs witch and I imagine majority of you live near the woods. In your time hunting/hiking you guys ever come across some weird shit or hair raising situations where you just felt something isn't right or you should turn around?
Or ever come across something abandon in the middle of nowhere or even a weird hiker?
I've come across abandoned huts/cabins in the woods before. Nothing too creepy in them though, besides the general creepiness of it being abandoned and disheveled.
Never come across any cult shit or strange people, just the occasional hunter or kids romping through the woods.
Also, Blair Witch is fucking terrible. Waste your time watching something better.
>>Blair Witch is fucking terrible
Nigger I live in Maryland that movie made me not wanna go hiking as a kid.
But to OP>>29983143
I actually went to burkittsville once and I came across some Blair witch fans while camping with my buds. Some of them are some pretty odd folk.
Okay /k/ today we will discuss about the general consensus of the Steyr AUG.
Which types are good? which are shit?
I found a Steyr AUG A3 m1 on a site for 1750, would you consider that fair?
discuss pro cons, lets help each other decide if it will be our next gun to get.
Forgive me, /k/, but I don't know much about 1911s. I got to handle one, and I really like how natural it felt in my hand. Besides capacity, would there be any reason I couldn't CC a 1911? I really like how it felt, and the large aftermarket is nice.
