Is SA Vz.58 better than the AK?
If so, why do you think so?
>No interchangeable parts with AK
No way in hell
>>30619637
>better
Nope.
>as good
Yeah.
It's seriously just about as good, only autists will argue against this. Both sling 7.62x39 downrange at about 3 MOA, both are pretty reliable. Leave the retards to nitpick the inane differences.
Would a WW3 have to involve nukes?
It feels like superpowers are limited to cold wars and economic wars until somebody snaps.
>>30619616
They'd probably be used by the losing side just as a last fuck you. I don't think any world powers really want to use them, but they'd sure like to see their enemies gone in an instant.
Except the radicals. They just want to kill infidels.
Nukes are becoming obsolete. It's all about proxy wars, ICBMs, cyberwarfare and information war.
No use turning territory into a nuclear wasteland if you can't conquer it.
>>30619616
As always it depends.
US nuclear strategy is all about flexibility and (iirc) Russia never drew a real line between conventional and nuclear weapons. The other nuclear powers are a little more rigid with their nuclear weapons since they don't have the budget for it.
what are the tactical advantages a pistol caliber carbine over an AR-15 for law enforcement?
all i can think of is
>same ammunition as an officers pistol
>interchangeable magazines
>low recoil/faster follow up shots
>good for within 100 yards
>mechanically less complex as a patrol rifle
>some pccs dont look as scary/militaristic as an AR-15, so people wont be rustled over the militarization...

the issue is that they would be SOL if they needed to shoot vehicles or people hiding behind barriers, which i imagine happens quite often.
>>30619595
99.99% of the suspects police will be required to fire upon will be unarmored.
>>30619595
>>low recoil/faster follow up shots
not really
>>some pccs dont look as scary/militaristic as an AR-15, so people wont be rustled over the militarization of police
so paint your ARs purple
>>the ammunition is less prone to over penetrating compared to .223 rem/5.56 nato
this is 100% fuddlore, tests have shown the opposite, way to continue the propagation of bullshit

>Just bought a Polish P-64 a week ago and i decide to test it out all cleaned and lubed up

>Fails to lock open on empty mag
>Puts in new mag
>Fires a few rounds
>Failure to feed
>Locks it back resulting in double feed
>Fuckingreally.jpg
>Can't remove mag because of shit tier heel mag release won't just unlock the mag and is locked tight
>Can't unjam slide either
>Calls range officer
>Has experience with Makarovs and PPK knock offs and has never experienced this type of fuckery before
>Managed to unjam it with tools
>Double feed was so bad it resulted in dimpled
cartridges
>Firing normally after i load up new mags
>Failure to go into battery and slide is jammed up
>Literally can't physically move the slide
>Calls range officer again
>Literally slams the slide against the table 5 times to get it free
>Recommends to get new springs, mags, or even try to get refund from the FFL i bought it from
>Hellodarknessmyoldfriend.jpg
>Goes to FFL 3 hours later
>Doesn't give a fuck
>Recommends trying better ammo or sending it back to the drunk monkeys at Century arms
>It's fucking Fiocchi ammo
>Left disappointed and ripped off
What should i do /k/?
I also REALLY don't wanna deal with the fucktards at Century but i might have to
>Mfw i have a pos gun
Wasn't it under $200? Who cares?
>>30619425
I traded it for my pos RAS-47. Only got 400 back and i figured i should get a pistol instead of an AKnade. Guy wanted 350 for the P-64. I said fuck it. Could have got a Tokarev in 9x19 that day, Should've got that. :/
>>30619416
Buy a new spring kit for it.

Your day was nothing, I got backed into in the parking lot by a co-worker, and all the witnesses (not that they actually witnessed anything, they were just outside) agree that it was my fault.
And if you can tell me why it would be good.
Looks like a glow stick to me senpai.
>>30619412
if you're asking then it's airshit. if he claims it's a real gun then he needs to post a well lit picture or a round in the chamber.
Hard to tell
So I'm going to start my first AR10/SR-25 build and I'd like some advice. Any suggestions on companies for lower receivers? especially ones that are in stock? Good barrels or parts kits that I should consider?
>>30619271
Give is a wooden stock and forgrip.
It would be sexy as fuck.
do your homework first.
saves money & time spent buying things you don't need.
getting exactly what you want.
>>30619271
I got a nice matched set of uppers from aero, pretty good quality. Get ready to drop some serious bucks for a quality build though.
So did these do any actual damage?
>stories of a cut down 1/12 twist barrel tearing VC apart because of yawing and fragmenting on impact
Wouldn't this be better than a modern SBR with a 1/7 twist rate because they can't reach the velocities needed to fragment?
Bump
>>30619179
No goddamnit. No. No. NO! No they didn't tear VC apart. Use your fucking brain.
>>30619179
Would probably be shit for barrier penetration. Even worse than light 5.56 loads already are.
Apparently Kontakt-5 ERA was surprisingly effective against 80's NATO anti-tank weapons.
So /K. Was there any other soviet weapons that would have been a nasty surprise for NATO?
Warsaw pact thread I suppose.
>>30619150
Some more info.
> Jane's International Defence Review 7/2007, pg. 15:
"Pentagon correspondent Leland Ness explained that US Army tests involving firing trials on 25 T-72A1 and 12 T-72B1 tanks (each fitted with Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armour [ERA]) had confirmed NATO tests done on other former Soviet tanks left behind in Germany after the end of the Cold War. The tests showed that the ERA and composite Armour of the T-72s was incredibly resilient to 1980s...

Is slapping on ERA plates the modern equivalent of pic related?

Actual truth in this tests or the usual 'Fund better equipment now!' shenanigans.
Anyone with better knowledge or info regarding this?
How effective are these in detering US carrier battlegroups? Lets say in the South China Sea?
>>30619107
Have they deterred any carrier groups?
>>30619107
There's already a thread on this. And the answer is: no one actually knows. America has incomplete information on the capabilities of China's ASBMs, and China has incomplete information on America's anti-missile missiles.
They're worth consideration, but not by much, as the kill-chain that is needed to target them is lackluster.
At least that's the prevailing opinion.
Guys I'm going to buy my first gun today.
I'm stuck between a $99 Davis P-32 with a rusted barrel, or a Lee-Enfield that's $100 off ($199) from the original one they've got in stock for being "sporterized". In other words they took off the Lee-Enfield's stock and put on an iron sight at the end. Other than that it seems to be completely the same (factory markings, peep sight, ranging, caliber, etc).
I could also get a Cobra FS 380 ($99) but the magazines are too expensive. Other than that I saw a shotgun and revolvers around the...

go with the p-32 or one of the shotguns or revolvers.
Look up a video online on what to watch out for when you're buying a revolver, though. iraqveteran8888 has a pretty good video on it.
>>30618340
I'd go with the rifle.
Those pistols aren't known for quality.
>>30618340
>buy bubba'd enfield
>slowly save up money over the years
>buy surplus stocks online or build your own
>send to gunsmiths to repair damage
>return rifle to former glory
Bare in mind that if you actually want to shoot it, you'll probably only be doing it rarely considering your budget and the price of .303. Rarely by /k/ standards, at least.

I love how everyone bashes the 1911 and compares it to their <insert polymer pistol here>
Its always the same, "Dude, why do you carry that relic? 45 is outdated bro! its all about shot placement".
Yea I get that, but I can "place shots" better with this outdated relic in 9mm, 38 Super, 45ACP, 40 S&W or 10mm.
The other thing I hate is when the same people who bash 1911 are the first to say something like, "Bro! Check it out! I got a new apex trigger bro! The trigger is almost like a 1911!!" or "My XD grip angle...

Why are American pistols so ugly?
Good question.
>>30618010
Old America guns are awesome.
Italians have the best looking pistols
>>30618010
Americans are not known for their aesthetics.
Why do we need 75 ton tanks when a guy can just climb out of a 25 ton IFV and kill the tanks with an RPG? Seriously, how can one tank compete against 3 IFVs full of guys that want to kill it?
By shooting HEAT from 3km away
